help with finding a certain interesting scene/dialogue.

okay. i swear to god, i hope this isn't some kind of mandela effect or some false-memory type crap that i'm experiencing. maybe perhaps its a mod, since theres no other way to explain it- i've been trying to find this scene/dialogue/whatever since i bought hollow knight, i found it while looking for art of hornet as a reference to draw. (keep in mind i'm almost done with the game, but i've looked through every dlc and scene that i can just about find in hollow knight. edit: except for some of the kickstarter content.)

and i swear it isn't some sort of art because i saw MULTIPLE SCREENSHOTS of it with dialogue. it does not look like fanart at all and if its a mod then it must be some interestingly designed mod that is very close to the original art style. (maybe its kickstarter content??)

basically, what the scene is, its not like an animated cutscene but rather interactive dialogue: a scene with pure vessel standing out on a platform with a lamp, looking over the dark horizon. he's hunched over, holding his pure nail which is supporting him like a cane and he's holding with both hands. his mask is cracked but he isn't infected. its basically like a post-ending cutscene.

hornet is also there? she's talking to pure vessel. i don't remember much of the dialogue, but i remember only pure vessel saying "i know not why i am alive..." and thats about it.

i SWEAR to god i'm going crazy trying to find this. i can even draw out what i remember if you guys need more context.

The Philosophy of Zima Blue (from an artist's perspective)

Zima Blue is a gorgeous piece of television. That, we can all agree on. But going through the posts on this subreddit, I'm seeing a lot of people asking about the point of it. So this is my interpretation, with my limited background in philosophy and art history.

My craft is music, specifically art music that doesn't usually sound very pleasant. Zima Blue is obviously dealing with visual art, but that's alright, as the two have a lot of parallels with the art movements that take place, and when you get down to brass tacks, visual art is just decorating space, while music is decorating time. I figure I should get that out of the way, as this is just my opinion and interpretation, and in no way definitive.

The inclusion of the blue circles in Zima's hyper-realistic paintings is probably the hardest pill to swallow; why ruin a great piece of art with something that takes no skill to do? This is a great question, and one that can be answered in two ways; 'why not?', and 'ruin?'

Art ultimately is about intent, and the brilliant book 'Why Your Five Year Old Could Not Have Done That' does a wonderful break down of how the more abstract genres of art are more than just collections of random noise (be it noise on a canvas, or in a concert hall).

The Zima Blue is very similar to the colour fields of Rothko, part of the Abstract Expressionism art movement. The Zima Blue colour taking up more and more space on the canvas with each painting is similar in a way to the Dadaist rejection of art- Marcel Duchamp famously took a urinal, placed it on its side, and submitted it to an exhibition. This is because the Dadaist movement was concerned with making anti-art; a protest to the aestheticism of modern capitalism. This manifested in Zima's work as a rejection of the higher-purpose of seeking a deeper meaning.

Artists love to naval gaze, and search for meaning, and express themselves through their artworks. As Zima became more advanced, the possibilities of what he could do also expanded; he could wade through lava, exist on desolate planets without any issues. Despite his increased capabilities, they did nothing to help him find meaning for himself.

The only time his life had meaning was when he was cleaning the pool tiles. The obsession with the Zima Blue was because meaning is entirely self-directed, informed by your capabilities. "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail".

Whether Zima's 'purpose' to clean tiles was his own choice or not, and whether that matters, is another whole essay in itself; one could argue that the rejection of self-directed meaning is an implicit endorsement of capitalism, which would probably go against the rest of the thrust of Zima's performance art-piece.

The performance-art aspect of Zima's degradation to his original state is quite powerful; putting it on as a display to the crowds reflects a mirror back onto them, asking the audience why they are searching for a deeper meaning through someone else's art (and consequently, life experiences). This is why Zima agreed to be interviewed- to provide context to his art, as without context, modern art is totally meaningless (which is a big reason why your five year old couldn't do that).

Then, we see the blue, and realise that the audience is an insert for us. We are watching a television program in hope of finding a deeper meaning, which is wholly and utterly meaningless, as purpose and meaning are entirely self-derived. Meaning can be anything- something as simple as cleaning pool tiles, or perhaps writing about the meaning of an episode about a robot that decides to clean pool tiles.

Booking Mae Young Classic 3

Competitors:

🇯🇵 Command Bolshoi

(If the Mae Young Classic can get Meiko Satomura then we can have another Joshi legend in Command Bolshoi. The 27-year veteran is has had almost 1000 matches in her career and is a 6-time JWP Tag Team Championas well as a 4-time Daily Sport Tag Team Champion,a former ICExInfinity Champion, Reina-CMLL International Championand 2-time JWP Openweight Champion.  Bolshoi has also wrestled for some of the biggest companies in the world including New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre (CMLL),  AAA Worldwide, Japanese Women Pro-Wrestling Project (JWP), All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling (AJW), and Frontier Martial-arts Wrestling (FMW) as well as almost every major Joshi company in the last 20 years.)

🇬🇧 Piper Niven

(The 27-year-old Scottish native was a competitor in the first ever Mae Young Classic as Piper Niven.  She is one of the best independent wrestlers in the world and has been a champion almost everywhere she went.  A 2x ICW Women’s Champion, Fierce Females Championfor over three years, former Artist Of Stardom champion and has won many smaller titles all over Scotland.  Her spot in the NXT UK women’s division ensures she will become a big star in the UK.)

🇬🇧 Kay Lee Ray

(Another former Mae Young Classic Competitor and a legendary figure in Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) as one of the pivotal figures of their rise to fame.  She is another elite in-ring wrestler who has had classic matches in ICW and tore the house down against Meiko Satomura at Wrestle Queendom, the biggest all women’s show in European wrestling history.  She will go down in history as the first ever WOS Women’s champion, is a former 2x ICW women’s champion and is a former Defiant Women’s Champion.)

🇲🇽 Marcela

(A 33-year wrestling veteran Marcela would join Bolshoi as one of the biggest and veterans in the tournament.  Has wrestled over 1000 matches and spent her entire career with Lucha giants CMLL.  Also wrestled for other promotions like JWP, AJWP, and Big Japan Wrestling as well as various appearances at Mexican indies.  She is notably a 4x CMLL World Women’s Champion and is undefeated in Luchas de Apuestas matches.)

🇲🇽 Keyra

(At just 24 years old, Keyra is one of the biggest prospects in Mexican wrestling.  Debuting in 2009, she has already wrestled hundreds of matches and is already a seasoned in-ring competitor at just 24.  Mainly wrestles all over the Mexican independent scene including companies like The Crash and Lucha Libre Elite, as well as competing for AAA occasionally.  Former The Crash Femenil Champion and current AULL Women’s Champion for over a year.)

🇯🇵 Mayu Iwatani

(The MYC got former ace Io Shirai, and Kairi Sane so we will get current ace Mayu Iwatani.  At 25, she has spent her entire career with Stardom, making very rare appearances in other Joshi companies.  Already has a very long list of title reigns being a former World Of Stardomchampion, 2x Goddesses Of Stardom champion,  3x Artist Of Stardom and former High Speed Champion for over 500 days. The highly decorated ace will only add to her list of accolades as her career goes on.)

🇨🇦 Chelsea Green

(Siging with WWE a few months ago. Had the best run of her career as Laurel Van Ness in IMPACT Wrestling where her character work really shone through. A student of Lance Storm, a former contest with WWE Tough Enough, Chelsea Green is one of the biggest stars in the indie scene, and fought at All In.)

🇺🇸 Jordynne Grace

(The 22-year-oldd debuted in 2012 and is already one of the best women’s wrestlers in the North American independent scene.  The “Last Pure Athlete” is a powerhouse in the ring. She has also been to Europe where she has had classic matches with the likes of Viper, Livvii Grace and DASH Chisako, which is a free match offered by Over The Top Wrestling.)

🇺🇸 Mercedes Martinez

(The only woman to compete in all 3 Mae Young Classics including mine. SHINE Tag Team Champion (w\Ivellisse) and 2-times SHINE champion, Mercedez Martinez looks to top last year performance in the quarterfinals and win this year’s WWE Mae Young Classic. Martinez is a 18 -year veteran that has participated in every indie promotion in North America. The daughter of Puerto Ricans has been on a lot of radars, but never has on a stellar scene in a mayor wrestling promotion. She looks to change all that in this year’s edition.)

🇩🇪 Melanie Gray

(Before there was Killer Kelly in Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), there was Melanie Gray.  A veteran of the German wrestling scene and for a long time one of the only German women featured on a big stage.  Has charisma and character as well as solid in-ring work.)

🇨🇦 LuFisto

(Debuting in 1997, LuFisto has been an ever present in the North American indie scene for two decades.  She is tough as nails beating cancer in 2018, and has featured in some crazy death matches.  A regular performer for SHIMMER, Shine, Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and Beyond Wrestling, she has popped up in AAA and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) as well.  She is the current JAPW Women’s Champion, former Shine Champion and has captured numerous other independent titles over the years.)

🇦🇺 Madison Eagles

(Debuting in 2001, Madison Eagles is an Australian veteran who stands at 6’1″, making her a bit of a tough task for other performers to overcome.  Despite her size, she does not wrestle like a typical “big woman”.  Eagles is a great pure wrestler who is one of the better technical wrestlers in the women’s scene.  Her 539-day SHIMMER title reign in 2010/2011 is considered the best in the promotion’s history, as she defended the title against a who’s who of women’s wrestling names.)

🇦🇺 Shazza McKenzie

(Another product of Australia, McKenzie is a 10-year veteran who went from just a comedy act to a competent wrestler.  A former 2x PWA Women’s Champion and is a former Heart of SHIMMER champion, McKenzie is a mainstay in the Australian scene and regularly features for SHIMMER and RISE Wrestling.)

🇺🇸 Shotzi Blackheart

(After only four years in the squared circle, Shotzi Blackheart has been a permanent fixture in RISEand SHIMMER at just 26 years old. Her name is inspired by Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, Shotzi’s look and personality is also inspired by her love of horror films, separating her from the pack. “The Ballsy Badass” is a former Heart Of SHIMMER champion and Pheonix Of RISE champion.)

🇵🇷 Ivelisse Vélez

(Ivelisse is a woman with unmatched charisma.  She is a real badass who looks and plays the part, often going to war with men as well as women she is no stranger to a fight.  Ivelisse is probably most known for her run on Lucha Underground as a former 2x Trios Champion along with Son Of Havoc and Angelico.  The underdog trio were a huge part of the early run of the show with Ivelisse standing out as the coolest member.  She is also a former 2x Shine Champion and Shine Tag Team Champion.)

🇧🇷 Aja Perera

(An upcoming Brazilian star who has shown great potential.  A performer for Shine, Queens Of Combat (QOC), Lucha Libre Femenil and RISE, she has yet to capture major gold yet but is a name to watch out for)

🇺🇸 Aspyn Rose

(Another prospect from the US indie scene.  Rose can mostly be found on Carolina Wrestling Federation (CWF) Mid-Atlantic and has wrestled for NOVA, SHINE, QOC and ACW.  She wrestles in most Florida indies and at 23 has all the potential in the world.)

🇲🇽 Felina Metalica

(Another Luchadora and a younger one than Marcela,  Metalica was trained by Justiciero, Negro Navarro, Robin Maravilla, Rocky Santana, Sadico, and Terrorista.  The 9-year veteran is a regular for CMLL and has competed around the Mexican indies including Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU), a Lucha Extrema company.)

🇲🇽 Sanely

(Another Luchadora and another CMLL regular.  Sanely is one of the best luchadoras on the CMLL roster despite only debuting in 2015.  Trained by awesome wrestlers like Black Warrior, Shocker and Ultimo Guerrero, you can be sure Sanely is extremely talented.)

🇺🇸 Victoria

(The Mae Young Classic has featured one comeback each time.  If there is one former WWE Superstar that would be welcome in a MYC it is Victoria.  The 47-year-old was always a step above most women on the roster when she was one of the only experienced wrestlers left.  She will always be remembered for her crazy characters which she played so well.  A 2x WWE Women’s champion who went on to have an amazing run in IMPACT.  As Tara, she became a 5x Knockouts Champion, main evented IMPACT in a cage match against Mickie James and was a cornerstone of the Knockouts division at its peak.)

🇯🇵 Meiko Satomura

(You cannot have a women’s tournament without considering one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world. Meiko Satomura, regardless of gender, is one of the world’s best, seeing her live she has such a special aura and comes across so well. When the bell rings she really shines, her unique array of knees and kicks are vicious and her technical abilities are second to none. Dream match after dream match could await in this tournament and many people’s eyes would be opened to what women’s wrestling can truly be just like last year when she was in the tournament.)

🇨🇦 Taya Valkyrie

("Lucha Royalty” Taya Valkyrie is one of the best heels in Lucha Libre.  Trained by legendary grappler Lance Storm, she is solid in the ring, but it is her character work that wins you over.  Whether it’s in AAA or Lucha Underground she adds so much to partner Johnny Mundo‘s act.  The former 2x AAA Reina de Reinas champion was one of the most featured women in both AAA and LU and is starting to make waves with IMPACT Wrestling.)

🇬🇧 Sammi Jayne

(The main event empress is on the comeback trail from a horrific injury suffered against Viper.  She has wrestled all over Scotland for promotions such as ICW, DiscoverY Wrestling, Fierce Femalesand early in her career started out in Scottish Wrestling Entertainment.  Branching out to Pro Wrestling EVE in 2017, she set off on a near year-long reign as champion.   Her heel run culminated in her main eventing the biggest Women’s wrestling show in European history at WrestleQueendom.  Her success in EVE has bee emulated around the UK as she is now the former holder of 5 titles.  The former RCW, OTT, DW, MEW and 3CW women’s champion will be a big star in the UK scene soon enough.)

🇬🇧 Tegan Nox

(Born Steffanie Newell out of Wales, this 24 year old was a mainstay in the British Indies as a whole. A former ATTACK! Pro Wrestling 24/7 Champion and ATTACK! Tag Team Champion alongside WWE UK standout Mark Andrews as a part of the tag team Bayside High. On top of that, Newell was the inaugural WCPW (now Defiant) Women’s Champion. Signed to World Wrestling Entertainment in April of 2017, Newell was originally part of the inaugural tournament, however an injury of the ACL would keep her away from action until her return to a house show on the 13th of April 2018. Newell would then go onto be a part of Mae Young Classic 2 and make it to the quarterfinals before her knee exploded in the middle of the match automatically eliminating her. Recently, Nox has been getting closer and closer to a return. Mae Young Classic 3 may just be her time.)

🇺🇸 Harlow O'Hara

("The Priestess” Harlow O’Hara uses her real-life experience as a Hairdresser and Makeup Artist to make her character come to fruition.  Also known as “The Deliverer of the Dark Rites”, O’Hara has a gothic character that makes her a unique addition to any tournament.

🇺🇸 Allysin Kay

(Allysin Kay who is best known for her time in Impact Wrestling under the ring name Sienna. She is a two-time Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion. She wrestles on the independent circuit in the United States and Canada, most notably for Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU), Shimmer Women Athletes and Shine Wrestling. She is a former one-time AIW Women's Champion, and a former WSU Tag Team Champion with partner Sassy Stephie.)

🇩🇪 Jazzy Gabbert

(One of the standouts from last year’s MYC, Germany’s “Alpha Female” was on the verge of signing a contract with the WWE when an injury was discovered that nixed the deal. She’s just recently returned to action after getting surgery to correct the issue and she would be a welcome return, as she was arguably the most over competitor two years ago.)

🇺🇸 Jessicka Havok

(Havok is one of the coolest women on the indies. Her whole aesthetic screams IDGAF and she looks like she would legitimately kill you if she had the chance.  “The Havok Death Machine” was a big star in WSU, winning every title in the company at least once.  She also has a run as TNA Knockouts Champion back in 2014, before a series of matches with the returning Awesome Kong saw her put the legend over before she left.  Since then she has been on WWE’s radar and become one of the main women’s’ wrestlers booked for higher level indies like DEFY and AAW as well as the main women’s promotions like Shine, SHIMMER, and RISE.)

🇦🇺 Kellyanne

(Kellyanne has been training since she was 15.  She was trained by the best in Australia, including the likes of Tenille Dashwood.  She also went to Canada to train at the Lance Storm Academy before heading to Mexico to train with Gran Apache.  Kellyanne has shown tonnes of initiative in training in many styles, she was also offered an AAA developmental deal and is on the WWE radar.  A breakout is all she needs to become a big indie name.)

🇬🇧 Zoe Lucas

(Lucas has quickly burst onto the scene. With NXT UK snapping up women’s talents, Lucas will get a chance to shine in the UK if she chooses to settle here.  Lucas was part of the RevPro women’s division before it even had a title, and she has also wrestled for PROGRESS, EVE, IPW:UK and 5 StarWrestling.  Lucas has not just wrestled in the UK, she has been touring Stardom since 2017 and has had a few matches in SHIMMER.  Zoe Lucas is a great talent who tours the world improving her already good in-ring work and she will definitely be a future champion in either RevPro or PROGRESS.)

🇮🇪 Katey Harvey

(The Queen of Irish wrestling Katey Harvey.  She was a women’s wrestler in Ireland before women’s wrestling really existed.  With the Irish wrestling boom, she has been able to see the growth of women’s wrestling and has spearheaded at least 3 women’s divisions in Ireland.  Harvey has also had her talents recognized outside of Europe.  She is the current GWF Women’s Champion and frequently wrestles for Flemish Wrestling Force in Belgium.  Harvey has wrestled all over Ireland for every company in the country be it Celtic Championship Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Ulster (where she is a 2-Time women’s champion), Fight Factory Pro Wrestling and of course OTT where her feud with Session Moth Martina over the OTT Women’s championship made the two Irish wrestling legends.)

🇬🇧 Jetta

(“Coventry’s Loudest” and a self-proclaimed “British Legend”, Jetta has been part of the UK wrestling scene since 2002.  Her 16 years of experience have made her razor sharp on a  microphone and one of the most polished workers in the UK.  She is a former 2x Bellatrix (WAW) British Champion, former IPW:UK Women’s Champion and former Celtic Crown Women’s Champion.  Over the last few years, Jetta has mainly plied her trade in EVE and has yet to appear for any of the major companies.  Despite this Jetta is more than deserving of a spot due to her years of experience and fantastic heel work.)

By the way the dates I put next to the episodes are the actual date they are taped as the last two Mae Young Classics produced most of it's best matches in the first and second rounds because the competitors were fresh. Overworking the competitors is probably the Mae Young Classic's biggest flaw.

I've had it with her stupid LAUGH (Plumbum)

Hi y'all. Long time commenter, rarely poster because I have issues and typing old shit out makes me relive emotions for which I don't have spoons 99% of the time. Because every time I get my head a little bit near functionality life goes "LOL no" and kicks me in the fucking teeth. And new stuff is often too much so I can't adult for a while, let alone type it all down in a coherent manner in what is not my first language.

I have named my MIL Plumbum (Pb) because she's either as dense as lead or just as toxic - the jury is still out on that one. Also because I like science and physics and shit. She's been in my life for more than a decade, even longer for my SIL who is married to BIL1.

This just happened, so I don't have to relive old emotions to share it. Yay? Fair warning: I ramble and can't very well differentiate between important details and fluff. Also, none of the following was said in English, so if something sounds weird or stilted, you know why.

So if you go and check my post history you'll see that the relationship with my parents has been tough lately. I haven't shared it, but I walked out of therapy with them mid February after realising that the proverbial flogged horse is dead. Next, my last living grandmother gets an express ride in an ambulance because she nearly died (she's doing well considering and is back home). Then last week I hear that my last living grandfather has cancer. So things have been rough even without considering my mental health is shitty to start with.

My other half (seriously yes, he's awesome) and I have a thing on Sunday, where we see FIL and Pb shortly when they arrive and we leave. FIL asked me how I was doing. I answer honestly, referring to both my grandparents' poor health. He gives me a hug and sympathy. Plumbum stands next to him, overhears this, and interjects "wel that's a part of life, huhuhuhuuuu... It sucks but that's how it is".

Rant incoming. Because I need to before I go on, and for all his qualities, OH doesn't enjoy me bitching about Pb.

First of all, bitch, your mother and mother in law are both pushing three digits and still kicking so STFU about my grandfolks who are much younger than either.
Second, I'm thirtymumbles and contrary to what you believe not an idiot, I know life is like this - I lost three grandparents (long story) since I started dating your son AND may I remind you about the funeral of your late only BIL, you dinghy? Your otherwise oh so sensitive arse was more interested in OH and my home improvement than anything else and didn't shed a tear, you raging cankle, by the way, I haven't forgotten. I know loss. Doesn't mean I have to like it, you unsympathetic troll.
Thirdly, I will forever be impressed with humans in general because you still have your own front teeth despite your habit of LAUGHING when you should show sympathy, remorse, embarrassment or any other not fucking glee like emotion, you harebrained little goblin.
Fourth, have you never in your next to seventy years been told your voice sucks? I'm not bothered by nails on a chalkboard but your voice is worse than hearing a three year old manhandling a violin. Shut the fuck up.
Fifth, I wasn't talking to you and like usual I DIDN'T FUCKING ASK YOUR OPINION. You always push in where you're neither needed or wanted. Be grateful that my martial arts include practicing self restraint - again, especially for your front teeth.
Sixth, for once in your life think before you open your fucking dicktrap. How the fuck FIL can stand being married to you is a damn mystery - no wonder he's found so much activities away from you since he retired. You're a blunt, rude, and inconsiderate banshee.
Seventh, just fuck you.

Where was I. Right. So, Plumbum shows her arse in public so I resist the urge to tear her a well deserved new asshole. But my face fell - side note, I will never play poker. My face wont allow it. So my expression goes from "polite medium" to "I just dropped my ice cream" and she goes "uh-oh".

For whoever is now thinking "is she five years old/ a Teletubby?" You have a good grasp on her general behaviour. She seriously said "uh-oh" when she saw that her words upset me. And nothing else.

Again, not the time or place to read her the riot act she deserves. I walked away. Not sure what FIL thought of all that, but again, he put a ring on it.

Deep inhales

So thanks for listening. Stay awesome.

365 albums for 365 days

So, a year ago this was posted (https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/6oxwq8/my_list_of_250_albums_i_want_to_listen_toany/) and the guy posted a list of 250 albums and claimed he would listen to one album a day. The music seemed fine and diverse, so I bookmarked it. However, he deleted his user and the list itself is no longer available (what a loss).

It is important to me to listen to diverse genres and temporalities, so I'll just post the albums that were recommended in the comments, help me finish the list. The list is highly rock oriented, so please BE DIVERSE. (Suggest classical recordings, tribal, pop, etc... Things worth the listen).

Any suggestion to "change album X for album Y" will be considered as long it has at least 3 upvotes.

Please be kind with the format. And any corrections are welcome!

Also, there will be Discussion Thread's for each album starting next week (Monday, April's 8th). I'll create a post like this:

3. Nirvana - Nevermind [365 albums] and the link to the discussion thread will be added next to the album in this list.

[Question] Building my own pedal for doomy goodness

(First posted this to /r/guitarpedals, as I did not know about this place. Deleted the old post, and here I go again!)

So in recent times I've gotten way more into the whole doom/stoner/sludge thing with my guitar. I then heard that it's not actually even that difficult to build your own fuzzy-like pedal, and figured that it would be a fun project as well. A friend of mine even has soldering equipment, so I got that whole thing covered, and I'm not half bad at soldering either.

Problem is, I am completely new to this sort of thing. I'm actually fairly new to fuzz pedals themselves.

I of course understand that with my limited knowledge and probably limited components, I won't be able to whip together something as good as the Fortin Fuzz or the Black Arts Pharaoh, but hopefully I'll be able to slap together something that can kind of make a noise roughly like that. I'm not a huge fan of the super harsh, nails-on-chalkboard type fuzz I've heard in some places.

So, the question for those of you more experienced in making pedals is: where to start? What to look for in components? Is there a good source for information on this?

Thank you

I of course understand that with my limited knowledge and probably limited components, I won't be able to whip together something as good as the Fortin Fuzz or the Black Arts Pharaoh, but hopefully I'll be able to slap together something that can kind of make a noise roughly like that. I'm not a huge fan of the super harsh, nails-on-chalkboard type fuzz I've heard in some places.

So, the question for those of you more experienced in making pedals is: where to start? What to look for in components? Is there a good source for information on this?

Thank you

can i use a nail gun air compressor with my airbrush?

I’m a complete newbie at this stuff and instead of investing in a separate compressor, could I just use the one I have for my nail gun? I mean, it’s compressing air, so wouldn’t it be able to work?

My only big concern is if any condensation is formed could it mess with my paint in any way? Again- complete novice, square 0 on this stuff. I’m genuinely interested in hearing other’s experiences. My dad says he knew a guy that used a massive innertube to save money 😂 I mean... whatever works, right?

I plan to airbrush mainly on my ooak dolls and sculptures. Also- if you guys have any airbrush works you want to share or plug I would love to see your art!

Bully my friend and push me around? Enjoy a bloody nose.

I just found this subreddit, and I figured it's a good place to put this old story of mine.

TL;DR at the bottom

A few years back, I was at a summer camp with my friend (we'll call him M). At this summer camp, we went outside and played sports, did arts and crafts, etc. I had a good time with M, who was a little less than a year younger than me. He wasn't particularly athletic, which got him bullied by other kids in his grade. One particular kid, "J", was the ringleader of a group of bullies who were absolute try-hards in every sport. They would push, tease, yell at, etc. littler kids in order to win. The got away with this because J was good friend with the counselor, "K", who was supposed to watch our group. K turned a blind eye to all of J's wrongdoings.

On one particular morning, J was taunting M more than usual, calling him "fat", "loser", "idiot", etc. I approached J and told him to stop, but he and his cronies just laughed at me. When we began our next activity, knockout, I was behind J in line, which meant I had the opportunity to eliminate him from the game. M was even further ahead in line, and was eliminated pretty quickly due to his lack of shooting skill. This wasn't what upset me - it was J's group of friends taunting M that did. The game went on for several rounds, until it was just me, J, and some other plot-irrelevant kid. J and I both had the ball, meaning if I made my shot first J would lose. I missed my shot, unsurprisingly, but J missed his shot wide, sending his ball far away.

He realized that I would get him out, at which point he grabbed my shirt and started pushing me back. I pushed back, and he kicked me in the stomach. At this point, K was conveniently on the other side of the gym, on his phone, talking to the other counselor. J kicked my ball away in a last-ditch attempt to save himself from losing. I hurriedly leapt towards my ball as he ran for his.

I'll never forget the look on his face as he turned around to shoot his ball, only for mine to nail him right in the nose. Only then did K look over, see the commotion, and come running over shouting at me. I got a phone call home and had to sit out the rest of the day, but it was 100% worth watching J walking to the nurse with a bloodied tissue on his face.

TL;DR: Bully calls my friend a fat loser, cheats in a game of basketball, gets nailed in the face

I did some Destiny-themed nail art!

I just started using acrylic paints recently and I'm planning to do more art around the Dreaming City (especially that giant ass geode crystal thing), the Nine's unknown space map, SIVA, the Taken etc. Destiny has so many cool aesthetics I'm excited to try them out!

[Review] Lux200 Kit by CoilArt - The Mod Is Powerful!

Lux200 Kit by CoilArt

Hi there! TheOneVape_Review is back once again and today, I am going to review a kit by CoilArt - The Lux200 Kit. I've never bought or tried any CoilArt's product before and this will be my first. Will my first experience with CoilArt's product be good, or bad? Let's find out more in my review.

INTRODUCTION

CoilArt had made some very popular vape products such as the Mage series RTAs, DPRO RDA, and the Mino pod. But today, I am going to share my thoughts with you on the Lux200 Kit. Just a brief overview of the kit - It supports dual 18650s, goes up to 200 watts, and uses a powerful Eagle Chip inside. As for the Lux Mesh Tank, it holds a good amount of e-liquid capacity at 5.5 ml and also comes with 2 different Lux Mesh Coils - The M1 and the M4 coils, single and quadruple coil respectively.

Will CoilArt nail the Lux200 Kit as well, just like their other products? Let me talk more about it, show some pictures that I took and give you my final thoughts.

OVERALL LOOKS & FEELS OF THE LUX200 KIT

Lux200 Mod

The Lux200 mod is a very boxy mod with all the sharp edges all around, just like the drag mods. If you are a marble fan, you might be interested in this because on both the removable side panels, there are marbles designs. I don't think all of the color schemes has the marble looks to it as some of them don't look like one, except for the white and black. One thing to point out is that the black colored Lux200 mod, isn't actually black but more like a purplish-blue. The marble design are actually made out of plastic, and it looks like it is made out of acrylic. The removable side panels are held on by magnets and after removing it, there is 1 cut out on each side for easy dismantling of batteries. On the front side of the mod has a huge gold fire button, a screen, a gold up and down button, and a micro-USB port. The 510 connector is located at the top side of the mod, nearer to where the buttons are. Most of the 510 connector on my mods are either centered, or at the sides away from the buttons and this is the first one that is located nearer to the buttons. I don't know what to feel about that, it is just my personal preference. I tried getting used to how to looks but I can't, so I don't like where the placement of the 510 connector is. The silver plating around 510 connector is raised so that will prevent the Lux Mesh Tank or any other tanks from scratching the mod. On the back has the 'LUX200' logo on it and finally, there are some ventilation holes for the chip set and a cutout to remove the side panels on the bottom.

The feels of the mod isn't very comfortable to hold because of how the sides are not rounded, but has sharp edges instead. So I guess I can say that the ergonomics wasn't thought out that well? The mod itself is quite big as well which makes it a weighted mod with batteries in. Like I mentioned above, all 3 buttons are big enough for you not to miss it. There are very minimal play on the buttons but no rattling can be heard. There is a noticeable amount of play on one side of the panel when holding on to it which kind of annoys me. Both panels are very smooth but is also a fingerprint magnet as it has a glossy finish to it and it is also in black. The last thing I want to mention about are the magnets. The side panels that are held on by magnets; 4 on each corner of the mod and another 4 on each corner inside the panels. It feels very weak as if it will not hold onto it very well. Surprisingly, I tried flicking the mod hard several times and both the batteries and side panels didn't drop out.

Overall Looks of Lux200 Kit

Removable Side Panels

Lux Mesh Tank

The Lux Mesh Tank comes in different colors matching with the color scheme of the mods. Mine came in black so I get a black Lux Mesh Tank and it has a faux-marble resin design on it or rather on all the Lux Tanks. The included 810 drip tip is a proprietary drip tip as it has 2 o-rings on it. But don't worry, it is also 810 compatible as well, as there is another o-ring inside and all my 810 drip tip fits perfectly on it. It has a top-fill design so a top cap is expected and it does only one full turn to take it off. The 2 fill ports are big enough to fit your glass drippers and bottle drippers. The pre-installed bubble tank holds 5.5 ml of e-liquid capacity and it also came with an extra bubble glass tank. I was expecting it to be a straight glass tank as some people don't like the looks of a bubble glass tank but oh well, it is what it is. The airflow on each side are adjustable and it doesn't opens up fully as there is a stopper on one side on the airflow.

The top cap has a smooth threading but it is hard to catch onto it sometimes. The o-ring tension when is very restrictive when it first came out of the box so be careful when taking the bubble glass tank off. But after washing it, the tension isn't as much as compared when it is new. The airflow is easy to adjust with a nice restriction to it, and again, when it is new. After washing it, the restriction became looser and it adjusts quite easily although it didn't adjust on its own inside my bag so I'm fine with that. The airflow slots are huge so expect it to be an airy vape.

Lux Mesh Coils

The Lux200 Kit comes with 2 Lux Mesh Coil and one of which is already pre-installed inside the Lux Mesh Tank. There are 2 mesh coils and they are called M1 & M4 - single & quadruple coils respectively. Both of them are 0.15Ω and for the M1 coil, it is rated between 50 - 90 watts - best between 60 - 80 watts. For the M4 coils, it is rated between 80 - 150 watts - best between 100 - 120 watts. Both coils uses different mesh which can be seen in the picture below.

M4 Coil ( Left ), M1 Coil ( Right )

  • Increase / Decrease Wattage in TC Mode ( 10 - 80 watts; 5 w increments; round robins )

Overall, the mod is quite easy to navigate. I did face with some issues which I will talk more about it under the performance section. The layout of the screen is very clean and easy to read and also displays all the information that is needed. Although it does not have any brightness adjustment features, it is quite bright and is suitable for outdoor uses.

PERFORMANCE

Lux200 Mod

The mod is powered by a chip called the Eagle Chip. I have never heard of it before but this chip is really powerful. It hits as fast as the Charon Mini / Naboo mod by Smoant, but hits harder than them. The scrolling speed is at the right speed for me. I faced with some issues with this mod which is when the Lux Mesh Tank is on the mod, it is very difficult to turn it off. I clicked 5 times it wouldn't turn it off, it would always change to bypass mode, and as a result, almost burning out the M1 coil. I have to spam the fire button or click it 6 times to turn it off. When the tank is not on the mod, I have no problem with clicking 5 times to turn it off. I have no idea why it is happening or there is a problem with the chip set.

In Bypass mode, it hits really hard. It is better not to use M1 coils in Bypass mode as it will just destroy your coil. I find using M4 coil is more suitable. Make sure the atty / coils you are using are suitable for high wattage. It is best not to use if you aren't sure about it.

There is this feature in the Lux200 mod, which I call it the smart wattage, meaning once you screw your atty in, the mod will automatically adjust to the suitable wattage for your coils. In M1 coils, which is rated best between 60 to 80 watts and it automatically set it to 75 watts. But when I installed the M4 coils in, which is rated best between 100 to 120 watts, it still set it to the recommended wattage of 75 watts. That is even lower than the minimum recommended wattage for the M4 coils which is at 80 watts. In my opinion, if the mod wants to recommend the wattage, at least set it within the coil limit and not under the coil limit. It would be great if there is an option to turn the smart wattage off just like the Revenger X.

Also, I realized that the puff counter on the mod will automatically reset after swapping the batteries out. I mean the purpose of puff counter is for people to keep track of the amount of puffs they take. If that resets without the user's acknowledgment, then what's the point of having it in the mod? They will just lose track of they puff count for the day.

Lux Mesh Tank with M1 & M4 Coils

The tank provides a smooth airflow all across the board. It is quite an airy vape due to the large airflow slots. Once you close down 1/4 of the airflow, I get a loose restrictive lung hit without any whistling or turbulence. At 1/2 closed, I am getting a medium restrictive lung hit and it starts to get a little turbulent. At 3/4 closed, I am starting to get a restrictive lung hit and also, getting a little turbulent.

I would prime the coil before screwing it into the tank. After filling up with e-liquid, I will continue to let it sit for 5 minutes before vaping on it. No cotton or weird taste can be tasted on the new coils. Flavor coming out of the M1 coil is good and the flavor for the M4 isn't as good as the M1, in my opinion. I would say the M4 gives a little lesser flavor than the M1 coil. I was expecting the quadruple coils to give better flavor but I was wrong. But overall flavor is good and decent vapor production.

The e-liquid consumption of the M1 coil is at a normal rate but the M4 coil chucks it down.

I have not experience any major leaking in this tank, just condensation and a very very minor juice sitting inside the airflow deck after leaving it overnight. No leaking issues throughout the day as well.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Lux200 Kit is overall a good kit that provides you with all the basic things you need in the mod and in the tank. The mod reminds me of back in 2015, when there are lots of box mods such as the X-cube by Smok and the SnowWolf 85w TC box mod. If I were to tell you honestly, I am not a fan of these kind of mods with sharp edges all around the corner. I'm more into mods with curve edges. I think this will be suitable for people who are a fan of marbles, those who likes a classic looking box mods, or maybe those who are a fan of the Drag mods. The performance of this mod is really good, very responsive and is able to customize partially. I am really impressed with the Eagle Chip and I think this is the hardest hitting mod I ever used. I think the marble design looks really beautiful especially on the white and black color scheme. As for the Lux Mesh Tank, flavor is good on both M1 and M4 coils although M4 produces a little lesser flavor than the M1 coil. I am not a sub ohm tank kind of guy and I have never once used a sub ohm tank before except back in the 2015, the only sub ohm coil I used was the sub-tank that came together with the Subox Mini. I know I can't say much about it because this is my 'first' experience with a sub-ohm tank. But within my testing period, flavor has been good so far.

If I were to buy this mod again, would I buy another one? No, but I would buy one if the edges aren't so sharp, and if the 510 connector is either placed in the center or on the other side of the mod.
