Hanayome Theory

Rules:
1. You are allowed to comment, debate/deny or try to ignore. Im not gonna stop you.
2. Don´t hate the player hate the game
3. At the end is a theory which might convince you to say out loud who will the bride is
4. If you like the manga this is definitely for you (this theory covers until chapter 82)
5. Be mature, at the end is just a theory of how you can see Negi work as a whole

Part 1 The beginning of all (easter eggs and Negi start poing A)
First let´s begin with debatable stuff but also very eloquent.

Did you notice that pink petals are the color of the bride, Hanayome in english comes from:

花 noun Hana

flower, blossom

嫁 noun Yome

a wife, bride

Definitely Negi is describing a history from an unexpected character to become someone different from the beginning. For every chapter that we read, I am more convinced one after another unless of course, Negi Sama decides to give us a turnaround with (wife by public demand) someone we already know since the beginning that she fell for Uesugi Futarou.

In other words what Negi is trying to say is: The bride, who represents the pinkish or light violet petals needs to be someone who transcends from point A to point B. And this theory doesn’t refer about personal development or anything not related to a couple relationship. We have been receiving hints since the very beginning on who Negi prefers to be the wife. Evidence? Lets take a look at the colored images of some official manga art work:

https://i.redd.it/f9rx55joubt21.png

Is he just showing their representative colors or something more than that? If there is something more then we have to consider the following:

Ichika might be one of the most fast paced characters when it comes to actions, so even if she wants to be the bride, Negi is nowhere near showing she will become the wife so far in chapter 82, by doing sneaky actions and taking extreme measures to earn his heart. Since the beginning we got a couple covers with the yellow and large shape of petals (not even the same shape or near to transform to light pink or light violet). In other words, as an author, he is making us pick any side but hers. Then we can see Miku, the favorite when it comes to public opinion. She might be the one who fell for him in the first place but at the same time is nowhere near to make a step as the title says: “HANAYOME”. And let me tell you one thing about Japanese culture. Some famous authors and celebrities in this country are well known for their love and care of flowers. They would resemble nature in the best quality as possible to let us know how beautiful and detailed nature is. And speaking of colors Yotsuba and Miku might also not match or transform into a pinkish color for the bride petals. So there are many ways to say we might discard both of them. Now Itsuki seems tricky, the shape of the petal is clearly not the wife’s ones but the color might be a reason for her to be a possibility so let’s not discard Itsuki for now. Of course if we believe purple and/or red are the only choices to become pink somehow. And if you still think is Yotsuba, Ichika or Miku skip to part 2.

Soo……. we get two possible options. Assuming as the manga shows, the wife adopts a pink color in her petals. Which petals? The answer might be: Sakura petals cherry blossom.

Note: These official art work just shows how different they should be to the eyes of the protagonist Uesugi Futarou and us the readers. The most important thing to remember for this theory now is that one of them will change.

Part 2 The Development and Demand Growth

Now that we all know what Negi manga is trying to express through feelings and vision wise about how the wife should be someone who evolved in the relationship aspect. We need to continue the theory adding some stuff to the end of the previous Part. Lets read the lyrics of the Anime. (another easter egg?)

https://i.redd.it/w12kv9mzubt21.png

This first song not only attaches small clips to the theory but also resonates with the fact that the only girl in this song who really disapproves the future Husband is Nino by saying: “I hate you”, then the chorus goes: from hate - to love. The only girl who we can separate from the other 4 in terms of behavior is Nino definitely. Later on we get in these lyrics: “It is fate, I can believe, do you feel the same?… will I dream about it again?”, “Slowly changing feelings, anxiousness and frustration are going away”. And the most important part of it: “I´ll say “Can I be with you even I am too proud sometimes?””. Clearly this shows that Yotsuba, Miku and Ichika will not be the protagonist of this song due to the proud meaning. The 5 of them have different personalities and now we can continue with the theory. You can say the 5 of them are proudly girls or whatever you think. Again: This theory refers to the more outstanding one in terms of behavior.

We will discus Itsuki later on so now lets focus on the second quintuplet:
To end Part 2 consider a few important steps in the manga that relates to both Futarou and Nino relationship outside his labors as a tutor.

We get a lot of stuff going on on Nino’s side of the story matching this theory so pay attention:

https://i.redd.it/zampx109zbt21.png

After Nino confesses her love, we get a title: “conquest begins”. Why would the author say that until chapter 60 huh? Yes theory gets stronger. If the real relationship began back ago then there would be a similar title so long ago. Again see how the blossom takes place slowly? You may say there is no seed but it will eventually grow beneath the ground and slowly shows a sprout in chapter 60.

Suspiciously we get this; ( just after Nino confession takes place). Chapter 61 shows as follows:

Enough to support theory? Well we have more now, take a look at Itsuki and the development theory.

So far we have Nino and Itsuki heading to be one of them to be the possible bride. Remember that the bride must blossom, the flower is considered as the bride later on. Now If we think of Itsuki as main character she never went from a point A to a point B of loving Uesugi so far. We must consider the 5 of them as main characters along with Uesugi. We also can see how his relationship with Itsuki stuck over and over again as a friend after she admits in later on that they can be considered no longer partners but friends (chapter . The only disadvantage Itsuki has is that Uesugi is not looking at her as something else as the advance of each chapter. She is aspiring to be someone he would remember as Rena and then after he gains his memories back from 5 years ago (school trip) then, he will start to feel something for her. But she doesnt realizes that he remembers Rena and recalling those memories makes him think of her as someone he admires or respects. Is a flower ever gonna blossom so fast all of a sudden? Well there is no plant in this world that can grow as fast as the bamboo which grows 35in/91cm per day. So considering the relationship term between Itsuki and Uesugi is totally not coherent to the story Negi wants to expose about the symbolism of the petals and the blossom of the flower. If you think Itsuki relationship with Uesugi is growing slowly outside the tutoring labor then that means you haven’t read the manga until now.

If we discard all of them but Nino we got this:

How our boy Uesugi San gets to know Nino step by step, understanding her role in her family as the supportive and straight forward girl of the 5. How Nino slowly feels something when realizing she hated his role as a tutor and not the person. Uesugi resemblance to Nino as they both are so mild tempered and wild as he was back ago when being a kid.

After cutting her hair getting finally realizing she feels something. Her constantly daydreams of a prince character, the coincidences. That day he decided to grab Nino instead of the amulet Rena (Itsuki) gave him. And then she realizes that her feelings are more than just that.

So far this theory will rely on one scene: Bride saying “Is not like this is the first time” so does that means they kissed back then? Below the bell? If they did then all goes on as she will get the first place.

Part 3 Ending for an Ending?

Now take a look at the anime ending song. Why is this important? Why would the author not give importance to the Intro and Ending songs of his labor? If he wants to create a great impact on how the story will go and how he wants the audience to feel. The best way to hide stuff is just by not telling who she is right? Well why is he giving us this lyrics of the first season which is as important as the last:

Note: quoted is translation and right to it just comments and manga related stuff.

“The weakness that I was hiding, (the only one) You always saw through them” - Nothing new, Uesugi saw through all of their weakness LOL
“I discover things about myself every time (I always think of you)” - Because they (Uesugi and she) use to be similar when they were younger? Emphatic then

“The bell in my heart (that it will ring) I didn’t believe) “ - trying to neglect her heart beats before she realized that moment

“Wether you are my destiny, I cant know right away” - She never started believing that they will ship huh

“I like you because you change is the signal of forever” - Is Uesugi gonna say her “I like you because you change” ?

“I must have decided from that day this moment is destiny”…..” the bell continues to ring forever”.

Finally The bride believes in destiny and that legend of kissing below the bell… So all that prince idea of falling for someone, even Raiha says the church looks like a castle. Or the fact that she is constantly dreaming and imagining a future with Uesugi, means she decided to believe he was the one!

https://i.redd.it/1px19zxnvbt21.png

This is finally it for the Nino Bell Kiss Destiny theory… and the easter eggs matching her as the future bride. With this now we have a strong point of view on who the bride is. When it comes to relationship evolution until chapter 82, we have nothing solid to confirm what Uesugi has to say to nino. But one thing is sure, she told him to wait and dont give him his answer yet even tho his face was red as a tomato. The blush might mean nothing yet but one thing is sure. He as the Bridegroom says "Now I can say what I couldnt back then"

As a gift to you who read until now we will get a last proof why this will be clear in the future.

https://i.redd.it/fmhyxdtivbt21.png

Why would the author authorize to show Nino’s nail polish as the only one who didn’t change and was late to develop in Anime Season 1? Again another hint? The blossom of the bride. Well is up to you what to believe.

At the end this Theory is just giving you facts and information gather around one spot:

花 noun Hana

flower, blossom

嫁 noun Yome

a wife, bride

Which comes from the title Five Equal Brides in Japanese.

Enjoy :]
