Hello, this is my first post, but I need advice from like-minded people...
I have natural nails. I grow them out fairly long, but not impractically so, and take good care of them. I enjoy painting them and trying different nail-art techniques on my own. I work as a tutor in a private school, and lately there's been trouble with the students there. I never thought my nails were overly long, neither are they unhygenic. But there isn't a lesson where I don't get a nasty comment about my nails. Students have said they were disgusting, have tried cutting them off, have attempted to rip them straight out (sometimes because they thought they were glued on), called me a witch or said other cruel things straight to my face. I've tried laughing it off and not caring about what they say, but it happens too often to ignore and has really put a big dent in my confidence (because I regularily get mean remarks about other aspects of my appearance too). I get lots of enjoyment out of my nails and feel happy looking at a pretty design, yet I'm considering just cutting them short to stop the hurtful comments.
Tldr: I'm a teacher who gets very cruel comments about my long natural manicured nails from my students
Has something like this happened to anyone else in public or at work? What did you do? Can you give me advice how to handle the situation?
