Three daughters, three wedding dresses, and some just desserts.

This is long, read it or dont. Ive posted before but im using a throwaway to be safe. I just wanted to get this off my chest. Re uploading it without a picture link. TL;DR at bottom.

My mother is a very talented woman. Unfortunately, she has as many moods as she has talents. She also has three daughters. She promised all three of us that she would make our wedding dresses when we got married.

Dress one:

The oldest daughter alternates between being a golden child and a scape goat. She was engaged for a couple of years, so my mom had two years to make the dress. She bought books, she had our dad buy lace when he went overseas, she bought fabric in New York City, made a test dress, and sewed a beautiful final dress. The only problem was that the dress made the wedding late by almost two hours because my mom was more concerned with fighting with the mother in law than finishing the dress on time.

Dress two:

I am firmly the scape goat, so my mother wasn’t happy about losing her faithful servant when I announced my engagement. We had a really short engagement (9+ years of marriage so far)

After the fiasco of my older sister’s wedding, I knew I did not want to worry about her guilting me about how much work the dress was, or the cost, So I went to eBay and bought a simple $15 white dress that kinda looked like the one Drusilla from Buffy the vampire slayer wore. My mom still managed to make me late for the wedding, but at least my dress was done 6+ months before hand.

Dress three/ just desserts:

Currently the golden youngest daughter is engaged. Shes also the golden child and my mother has spoiled her in every conceivable way, to the point where she STILL does not understand consequences at 30 years old! My mom knew an engagement was coming and has been preparing for this dress. She has been buying patterns, fabric, pinteresting things for the past year. As the golden child, its been a big deal and unbelievably annoying. She keeps telling the older sister ways that GCsis’s wedding will be “better”.

But the thing that REALLY annoys me? My mom is now rewriting history to say that she SAVED her really expensive fancy lace from years ago for GCsis’s wedding because APPARENTLY, neither of us were “fancy” enough and she didn’t think it would make sense for her to use the lace for our dresses. (please insert incredulous emoji here) YOU INITIALLY OFFERED ME THE LACE FOR MY DRESS BUT I TURNED YOU DOWN BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO SELFISH TO ALLOW A WEDDING TO BE ABOUT THE BRIDE! ALSO EVERYONE KNOWS I AM WAY FANCIER THAN GCSIS. I LOVE HER BUT SHES KINDA TACKY. (She buys nice local made art, mixes in cheap prints of famous paintings, then TAPES THEM TOGETHER AND LEANS HER FRANKENMONSTER AGAINST HER WALL BECAUSE SHE IS AFRAID TO USE ANY NAILS. Seriously. Imagine a middle school girl’s notebook collage, but more expensive and 3 feet tall).

Where is the just desserts I promised?

GCsis just told her sisters that she eloped almost a year ago to avoid including mom in her wedding (she was in a serious relationship about 6 months before and apparently married this guy after like a month, though he is actually great for her, which is kinda weird). But she still wants mom to plan a fancy reception. My mom still doesn’t know and will never know we know. After gushing for over a year about how amazing this wedding will be, it turns out there will not be a wedding. Just a reception. And seeing as our mom is VERY religious and conservative, its going to be a crapstorm when she finds out.

Now whenever she compares how much “fancier” and “nicer” my GCsister’s wedding will be, I get to kinda laugh to my self because the one child she spoiled and is clearly the “favorite” is also the only daughter who didn’t invite mom to the wedding, and honestly no one is surprised.

TL;DR

Mom tries to sew 3 wedding dresses for her 3 daughters. She participated in the two Scape Goat daughter weddings, but the golden child not only excluded mom from helping with the wedding, shes secretly been married for over a year and mom still doesn’t know and is currently attempting to plan the wedding and sew the wedding dress.
