Throughout dragonball many many many characters fell behind others, and while a major reason for that was the fact that some of these characters were aliens and therefore had access to special ability, but some reasons for this absurd difference were due to what the characters were gifted with and then either didn't tell anyone about (ultra divine water) or no one followed up on (kaio ken, fusion dance) I will also include the gravity room and room of spirit and time in this as it is never seen used by anyone besides the saiyans and piccolo for a brief time.
So we start this what if directly after the king piccolo arc because at that point no special hax item was used before the ultra divine water (unless you want to say Korin's training should be counted). someone like Tien asks how Goku got strong in such a short time before he goes to Kami and he replies Korin's magic water and points over to Korin's tower while also saying that he was going to go there anyway.
So after everyone is revived Tien mentions this to each member of the dragon gang including Yamcha, even if his leg is busted he could probably make it up the tower if he is careful (or when Tien reaches the top Korin gives him a SENSU BEAN to give to Yamcha) each of these fighters would eventually get access to the divine water once Korin says they can go.
Cut ahead to the world martial arts tournament and the power levels are as follows. Jr:350 Goku:350 Krillin:275 Yamcha:250 Tien:335 Kami:200 (his stated is 220 in Z according to weekly jump) Chi-Chi:130 Chioutzu:150
Chioutzu still loses to Tao but nowhere near as heavily, Yamcha beats Kami, Tien doesn't get scarred by Tao, Krillin almost beats Piccolo, Goku wins vs chi chi as normal. Tien vs Goku is a lot closer. Yamcha beats Piccolo only because of his spirit ball and Krillin beating him down a little before, if he didn't have that he would have instantly lost. then Yamcha loses to Goku.
beginning of Z
Goku trains slightly harder when he can due to Tien almost beating him in the tournament and knowing that Tien almost always trains. Yamcha trains harder as well considering he actually got to the finals. Krillin trains enough to be within the range of Goku and piccolo considering how close he got in the tournament. Yamcha: 366 Krillin:393 Tien:423 Goku:406 w/weights 455 wo/weights piccolo 342/428, 20 more then in series Chioutzu: 226.
Raditz arrives, still beats up Goku, takes Gohan and still Goku dies. piccolo takes Gohan still and nobody goes after because he reasons with them rather then just taking Gohan and knowing they couldn't stop him.
Because Goku was slightly stronger he gets to king kai's place quicker therefore he gets stronger then usual and masters kaio ken a bit more and learns the spirit bomb so that means when the saiyans arrive he would also get back faster so on and so forth. same with the people on earth, because they are stronger to begging with they can more easily build up to a higher power for when the saiyans arrive. piccolo and Gohan drink the ultra divine water when Kami tells them to. Yaijarobe is forced to drink a well even though he doesn't want too.
vs the saiyans power levels: the saiyans and saibamen are the same. piccolo: 7750 Tien: 3250 Yamcha: 2800 Krillin: 2995 Gohan:1905 Yaijarobe:1650 Chioutzu: 963 Goku:9200. since piccolo knows he is stronger then Nappa he suppresses his power so as to delay for as long as possible.
The saibamen are planted, and Tien delays as much as he can before destroying the thing outright when Nappa is getting irritated causing people to speed up. Yamcha takes his out as well but the saibaman still tries his kamikaze attack. causing Yamcha to get winded and bowing out for a few minutes. Krillin beats a saibaman very quickly while Yaijarobe and Chioutzu take a bit longer as Chioutzu has to hold the creature in place so that he can actually damage it. Gohan takes on the last saibaman with Piccolo telling him to concentrate.
Nappa comes up next getting excited as the humans seem like they could be a challenge if they all came at once. which they do of course every time Nappa would be about to kill one of them however Piccolo or another human would intervene making it hard for him to finish anyone off. eventually Nappa gets so mad the he decides to just go full on with the first person he comes across that being Gohan, so Piccolo decides to stop playing around and beat up Nappa, Nappa still lands a few blows here and there however as the gap between them is not insurmountable and as such Vegeta calls Nappa off realising that he can't win. Vegeta then notices that Kakarot isn't there considering the group was saying he could beat Vegeta and asks why he isn't there to challenge him. he gives the humans 3 hours before he starts killing them all. Goku makes it with no time to spare compared to being late like in the og timeline.
he goes kaioken instantly and matches Vegeta and in fact surpassing him by a bit. Nappa decides to just bow out from now on considering that even if he went ozaru he would likely lose against Kakarot as he can see that Goku is holding back ad he himself was weakened. as Goku fights Vegeta he eventually ups to x3 and x4 when the beam struggle occurs. Vegeta is far weaker then in canon when he falls to the ground and then throws the powerball up, everyone joins in to fight Vegeta with piccolo getting killed by Gohan by mistake when he tries to calm him down. and Chioutzu dies when he tries to hold Vegeta after he gets blasted in the eye by Yamcha's spirit ball. after this Goku's spirit bomb hits ozaru Vegeta. and in the mess Gohan's tail is cut off as well as Vegeta's. after Vegeta gets up from this he sees he can't win and escapes. Nappa not joining as he is captured by the humans and Goku working together before he gets in his pod. Goku then falls down having exerted himself to the point that is like canon. Tien is furious that Goku let Vegeta go but at the same time he would like to cause Vegeta to suffer personally, asking Goku to try and teach the humans kaio ken verbally while in the hospital. Tien is able to figure it out and gets the technique to the other humans before they head of to Namek, Gohan coming along too upset that he killed mr Piccolo (who doesn't blame Gohan at all).
on Namek the humans and Gohan have these kaio ken as their max, Tien and Yamcha x3 Gohan and Krillin x2. when they reach Namek they defeat the Freeza soldiers easily before they can even fire at the ship. Gohan did get a Zenkai from the fights getting up to 2450. nothing big changes besides the fact that they humans also save cargo and Moori. when they get to guru they each get their potential unlocked. Tien: 20,000x5 kaioken Yamcha:17,000x4 Krillin:18,500x4 Gohan:21,000 x4
Vegeta does his shtick killing both Cui and Dodoria then being beaten by Zarbon. eventually the humans gather all but the balls Freeza posses before Vegeta handles it for them and they have them all together, Zarbon is not killed however as the humans intervene before Vegeta can kill him, offering Zarbon 1 and only 1 chance. he takes it considering what Vegeta was about to do before guru informs them that the Ginyus have arrived. the 6 fihters work together to stop the Ginyus, with Ginyu himself taking the balls not knowing what he has left him men in for. Guldo dies instantly by Tien. then Recoom is killed, after they both refused their 1 chance. Burter and Jeice are scared shitless but they don't run as they know what would happen so they wait for Ginyu to fly back considering two of his men are dead, meanwhile the potential unlock has progressed further like in series and by the time Ginyu is there they've all doubled in power Tien going to 200,000 to try and take down Ginyu before being body swapped and realising his mistake as the others wail on him and he is forced back into his own body before being killed, no frog.
as Freeza goes to Guru to meet and fight Nail the other make the wish to get Piccolo and bring him to Namek while Goku arrived just after the defeat of Ginyu alongside Nappa. since a few more namekians are alive guru is able to stay alive long enough to unlock the 6 remaining warriors potential. as they intended to use their last wish to get everyone off Namek when the earth balls were gathered to wish the namekians back and give them time to train for Freeza.
Piccolo then goes out to find Nail as Dende could heal him from what he could find out from the other Gohan hugging him after seeing him for the first time and apologising. kaioken doesn't work well with Piccolo unfortunately and he can only get to 2x. everyone goes off to fight Freeza.
Final power levels for this what if as I don't want to go into androids in the main text. Goku post gravity and potential: 4 millionx20 Vegeta:1.6million zarbon:1.8million Jeice and burtur: 3 million piccolo:20 million due to potential and nail fusion, with a 2 x kaioken Nappa 2 millionx5. humans are at Tien:125,000x15 Yamcha:111,000x15 Krillin118,000x15 Gohan:325,000 x15. Freeza sees everyone had turned traitor (the saiyans Zarbon and Jeice and Burter) and instantly goes to his forth form to teach them all a lesson, the fight goes somewhat like canon except Freeza has to go to 80% (96 million) and the spirit bomb heavily wounds him instead of leaving him with a few scratches. he kills Vegeta and Krillin the second he arises again causing Nappa and Goku to get mad, Nappa just getting stronger then usual and Goku going super saiyan and absolutely wrecking Freeza.
as in the normal story everyone goes home via the dragonballs and the planet was destroyed etc etc the only difference being that Freeza has even less of a body to use then before. the saiyans got a zenkai from the ordeal making them overall much stronger then in canon. Chioutzu and Krillin are revived and Zarbon wants to be beautiful at his max power inadvertently unlocking his potential and shooting him up to 10 million. everyone takes a swig of the divine water and learns kaioken bar Vegeta as he refuses to use the technique. ending the Freeza saga.
