Getting the nails done?

So i want to get my nails done for the wedding and am thinking i would go in a few days before the day. Is it better to have an appointment pre scheduled or just show up somewhere? Nail art is not my thing, what is recommended for someone who lifts and runs so that i don't ruin them before the wedding. Trying to figure it out the least stressful method and appreciate any advice or thoughts
