I am in talks about developing a game which is a spiritual successor to the realtime 1st-person RPGs of the 1990's (Ultima Underworld, Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, etc.), and want to nail an art style for the game.
We don't have the budget to do photorealistic graphics just yet, so we are aiming to nail a more painterly art style that feels "just right" before moving forward with the rest of the graphics and assets.
I'd like to commission a few models of characters, say a rogue, a shopkeeper, a knight, etc., so I can get a feel for the look we are going for. They shouldn't be very high-poly or extremely time-consuming. The idea is to avoid the detail and expense of that, and go for an aesthetically pleasing look, but not a "AAA" look.
Here's a link to a sprite sheet of Daggerfall's NPCs for example of the style of dress, look and feel (mildly NSFW pixel nudity):

These would be full 3D models that "emulate" this feel, while refreshing it for a modern audience. There will be pleasant moments, areas and cities, but also dark and atmospheric dungeons, so the art style shouldn't be too "cute", so that it will still fit for intimidating monsters.
Please let me know if this interests anyone, and we can discuss more details and price. Thanks!
