Hello Heath Bars! Today we welcome back a well-loved queen who is talented for her young age, famous for her flawless rendering, and in my opinion gone too soon... that's right, it's me, Malaria E. Coli! Oh, and I guess Aura is here too.
Malaria: So Miss Aura! Let’s start with the all important, hard-hitting, super invasive question: how are you?
Aura: AAAASdkfj first of all, thanks for having me, it's a pleasure talking to you! So, actually I'm feeling great rn. Ngl, before my elimination the judges talked to me abt the issue they had with my look and abt the penalty so i was kinda expecting the worst. And when it finally happened i decided to deal with it in the most mature and relaxed way possible, and that's what is keeping me in a good mood. And also i received a crazy amount of love and support and that was essential (thanks guys, ily).But yeah, I know there was also some messy drama surrounding my elimination but I'm trying to avoid that topic so everyone can move on, and be happy lol!!
M: It’s good to hear that everything was essentially sorted out behind the scenes and that you’re taking everything in stride. You’ve been very mature about everything and that deserves some praise in itself!
Let’s leave the elimination talk at that, because I want to know more about how you’ve felt overall. Your run in the competition is nothing to sneeze at - top 5 is fucking HARD - and you managed to snag a couple wins along the way. What were some of your personal favorite moments from the competition?
A: omg top 5 rly was a struggle but i like to think i had a decent run aaaaaa. I think my fav moment was my first win because i was FEELING the fantasy. I was having a hard time trying to nail the challenges, but then on that week i decided i had to give 100% of what i had to offer. And i did. I worked my ass off, i read all my previous critiques and applied them into my work and managed to snatch my first win. I'm still very proud of that bird look nowadays. But there's also some memorable challenges for me like the Auriana in the summer (summer gurls 4 the crown), Dj Aura, knitwear and the ball itself (even tho it was a disaster i rly love my concept). Ngl i wish i could say "my coronation" :(((( kajsidjsj jk jk
M: Ahh, the first win is always the sweetest. I think the fact that so much of your performance were high points for you really speaks to your attitude on the competition as a whole, and I’m really happy to have watched you throughout the competition.
You said your knitwear look was a disaster, but I’d have to disagree. But, I’m not in your brain, so I’d like to know: if there was any challenge in the competition that you had a chance to try again, what would it be and why?
A: ty <3 well i think i would do the ball again (pt obvious), bc i rly rly like all three of my concepts but this time around i would give more time and attention to the execution of the first two looks and i would do a totally different look for the last category, because now i would know exactly what they wanted to see. I wouldn't be tricked by my dumb misunderstanding of the challenge lol. And i would also wnat to have the chance to lipsync for my life if it was the case (only bc i wanted a fancy lipsync fanart hehe). But of course i would change some things here and there so maybe i would snatch my third win? who knows lol
M: An understandable choice. For what it’s worth, I was certain you were top two in the ball until things shook down the way they did.
What did you have planned for your lipsync look, by the way?
A: yeah tbh i thought i would be in the top as well until things shook the life out of me the way they did AAAAA. So for my lipsync i was planning on rly showing Aura's emotions (maybe for the first time in the season) through a very sasha velour kinda performance. So it would be a contrast from the emotionless dolls of the ball. I even thought of doing it as a playalong but when everything happened i just wasn't feeling it anymore so i'll leave it for your imagination
M: Aww, I’m sorry to hear that we’ll miss out on it, but at least we have your reunion look to look forward to!
So, for the finale: who are you rooting for?
A: ok, i'll think abt it! maybe (mAyBe) someday i'll do it and post it on the sub hmmmm :ok_hand: So for the finale.... idk if i made it clear enough but GO ORIANA BRING THAT CROWN HOME!!! bitch, she's my sister and since the summer week she has always been with me so i could not be rooting for someone other than her (and she's also fierce as fuck and has brought some pretty original stuff to the game), so she deserves it!!! But also i do think that this top 3 is perfect. Ori is pure charisma. Ripper is unique the house down, she's crazy and i live for it! And Vero rly has some nerve bc she battled all the way to the end to snatch her first win and never letting the competitive aspect of it all bring her down... so i'm rly proud of her too. And the three of them are full of young drag fresh talent, so sis.... i stan!!
M: That’s so sweet! You’re a real sweetheart in addition to being so talented. I’m happy to have seen you on MPAR and I really hope we can look forward to you on All Stars.
Before we wrap up, was there anything else you wanted to say?
A: omg thank you so much, i rly appreciate that <3 so what i want to say is: the drag/lgbt/drag race community is a wonderful place where we can rly find friends and even a new family. But there's also some rly toxic people that wouldn't think twice before throwing you downstairs. So please keep yourself surrounded by people you love, people that will always be prepared to protect you. And obviously you have to do the same for them. Don't let shit that people talk abt you get in your head, keep making your art, keep shading your friends, bringing it to the runway and werking the house down boots. But most importantly, always do your best to keep this community a safe and welcoming place, so new little fags feel as safe as you would want yourself to be. And you know what? You never know completely who lives behind the Aura..... lol I'm dramatic as fuck sorry
