Follow up to the storyline when Grimm is not banished (NKG fight takes place) and the Grimmchild now takes the role of the Troupe Master. Fast forward to the Radiance fight: after defeating her, dream essence rushes out of her (when the Knight slashes her open with void tendrils) which is consumed by Grimm (since he's now in the dream/nightmare realm), thus manifesting the Radiance's power.
This does (seem to) fit the lore, especially considering the Troupe Master's Journal Entry which mentions that:
- He travels through dreams, and the Radiance fight takes place in the dream realm after Dream Nailing the HK).
- He consumes flames, aka fears/nightmares (although this is mainly speculation I've come across in multiple online posts, there is no concrete piece of lore that describes the true nature of said flames).
- Of a kingdom's fall: The Radiance was a ruler of Hallownest, and has fallen, also ending her rule over the countless infected minds. Yes, she wasn't technically the ruler after being sealed away, but the implications of the fight seem similar.
Thus, Infected Grimm is born. But not infected in the traditional sense. The gleam in his eye leaves no doubt as to who is in control. This would be a boss fight I would love to play. As Hornet in the upcoming DLC. Damn.
And finally, what do you get when you Dream Nail him this time? Nightmare Queen Radiance! (Yes, feel free to break the controller now.)
The only bit that doesn't fit is the whole death/rebirth cycle, aka the Ritual, taking place. But I guess that could be attributed to the Radiance's sheer power.
Anyhow for those interested in the art, this was made in Autodesk Sketchbook. Did a ballpoint trace of a screenshot (haven't sketched anything worth a damn in over a year, so I didn't really trust my hand at that) and then painted it, nothing too complex. Turned out better than I had hoped, so decided to post it, seemed fitting for Halloween.
