Stamping advice

Hey Laqueristas!

I have a few stamping related questions.

Background: I wanted to try to stamping nail art since the very first time I saw it online. It looked nice and easy enough (yeah..not really). So I started slowly, because I didn't want to spend too much money if it proved I couldn't achieve it. So, I got some stamping plates, polishes and a stamper from the Born Pretty Store.

I cannot get them to work at all. There are only like 4/10 cases when the stamping polish is picked up on the stamper and not even then is it picked up properly. I tried washing the stamper with dish soap, I tried different levels of pressure when I picking up the polish, applying different amounts of nail polish on the stamping plate, etc.

I would like to know if there's anything I can do to actually make it work. I don't know if the stamper is not good enough (I have 2 right now, both of them clear jelly stampers), the plates or simply my technique. Is there any specific way to prep the stamper?

I would love to hear how you manage stamping so flawlessly. Any advice is welcome. :)
