Christmas is always a huge event in our home. Every year we decorate as a family and spend Christmas morning opening gifts. This year, my husband and I are asking for a little bit of help. The last two months have been a huge challenge for our family. Our youngest daughter, Ava, has been going through some medical issues. My husband is a disabled Army vet and I'm a full-time student so money has already been tight, but the additional medical bills mean that Christmas is pretty much a no-go this year. A friend told us about this awesome thread so we decided to give it a shot! With everything our family has gone through the last couple of months, we just want to give our kids a normal holiday.
Ava is 12 and in 7th grade. She is a phenomenal student in gifted and talented classes. She also played as the only girl on the boys' football team this year. She loves art and drawing. She has found drawing, journaling, and music to be terrific therapeutic tools. She has recently found the joy of creating art on her eyes with eyeshadow. Her biggest art project will be redecorating her room with lights and black light reactive tape. We're excited to see what she comes up with! Chasity is 17 and is a senior this year. She is working hard to graduate early. She currently works at a pet store and is about to start a second job as well. Chas is a very simple teenager who enjoys Netflix, Chickfila, Starbucks, and Chipotle. She will treat herself once a month to get her nails done. Chasity is excited to graduate and begin college. Anthony and Darian are twins who are 16. They both enjoy the same things: PlayStations and basketball. They also work at the karate studio all four of the kids have earned black belts at over the last 4 years. Anthony and Darian are still practicing karate and are currently First Degree L4 black belts. They recently paid for driver's ed themselves and are waiting to take the road test. My husband and I have been overwhelmed by our community's support with the recent events surrounding Ava and are thrilled to see the same in this online community. We hope next Christmas we can be Santas for other families. <3
