So, it seems okay?
I'm only about 14 minutes in, but I've noticed a few things that I do not like:
- The animation keeps stuttering every few seconds and I know it's nothing wrong with my laptop. It's like watching a stop start episode with stuttering motions. It feels jittery.
- The way the characters are drawn look out of place in the background of the world. It looks too smooth and cartoony compared to the roughness of the rest of the background and the thick lines around their faces and especially around any facial hair look really awkward as they stand out too much. Their are too many ugly, thick brown lines everywhere, especially around the edges of the face and the hands. At times, it looks like the episode was drawn in the old Microsoft program called paint.
- The introduction of the characters seem okay.
I know that I haven't watched much, but my biggest issue with the series is the art and jittery animation. Compared to ATLA, it looks so much better and smooth in animation and everything fits. This giant contrast between characters and background is extremely distracting and I can't help but keep thinking that it looks horribly cheap. Like I'm getting flashbacks of Bezerk post the golden arc or Overlord season 3 with the human soldiers. I mean, if you really want to go with that smooth character art and animation, then look no further than dragon booster from 2004 to 2006, because they absolutely nailed it!
So, my question is. Does the animation get better and by that, I mean, does the concerns I've raised ever get resolved?
