Hi, everyone! I just barely got a Cintiq today and I'm having some problems with detecting the pen pressure in one specific art program. (My first post to this subreddit so sorry if it's a little messy!)
I'm using Windows 10 and the current wacom driver (6.3.37-3), all the right cables that it came with, etc. I've been using a pirated version of Paint Tool SAI for years now to do all my art (I know pirating software is bad but oof it took me forever to finally upgrade to a cintiq and I've just been using SAI all these years so I'm accustomed to it.)
I've been using a Wacom Ituos tablet for the past 5-ish years, and I've almost never had a problem with it detecting my pen pressure when using SAI. But now that I'm using a Cintiq, I can't get the pen pressure to work.
I downloaded + tested free software like Fire Alpaca & Medibang, and the pen pressure on those both worked. Theeeen I tried the trial version of Paint Tool SAI, and the pen pressure worked. But for the pirated version? Nothing, despite it working for the Intuos.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? Does the Cintiq just have some fancy anti-pirated software resistance compared to the Intuos or something? Are there any fixes for it or will I need to just put the final nail in my wallet's coffin and buy Paint Tool SAI?
(I know just buying it is the simple solution but tbh their website looks like a 2000s scam site and I'd prefer not to give them my debit card info lmao)
EDIT: Thanks for the replies everyone! I think you all were right that my pirated copy was definitely out of date with some bugs- I'll do what I have to do to make sure I get a working program with proper pen pressure. Thank u!!
