Just curious, mostly, as to whether my relatively low GPA is a nail in the coffin or something that I can overcome with experience in other areas. I'm not taking anything in sciences, and would be applying for an arts program (though likely different from my undergrad major).
Right now I'm holding a 3.0/4 GPA (I believe? 73%) at a Canadian university.
I've taken part in one research mentorship program, and one undergraduate research program (focused on game studies). I may make a minor non-peer reviewed publication through this program by the end of the year (or should I go the extra mile and determinedly attempt a peer-reviewed?). I'm confident in my ability to get positive letters of recommendation from professors in the field I pursue, but mostly am worrying about the GPA aspect.
If the GPA is something I can overcome, what would you suggest doing to improve my chances? What kinds of positions are available that could improve my chances of acceptance if I were to take an extra year to pursue them - anything in the field to which I'm applying, or specific types?
