If Imperial Guard regiments were space marine chapters

((Inspired by a similar post, I decided to just create my own list to go as in depth as I want))

The Gatekeepers: Assigned with the sole purpose of defending the Cadian Gate, the Gatekeepers live up to their motto, “tradesmen of all, masters of none.” While the Gatekeepers often make a point to be proficient in all manners of war as to not fall into predictable and stagnant habits. Despite their fierce loyalty, they have little qualms with editing their chapter to fit the situation at hand sourcing the Codex Astartes as a set of guidelines and rules rather than commandments and absolute truths. Guillimans return coincided with the fall of Cadia, where the chapter saw a crippling 95% casualty rate, and the loss of both their famous Chapter Master Ursarkar Creed and the chapters honours. Reduced to a single battle barge, the Pride of Cadia (renamed Cadia Stands) the Gatekeepers met up with Guilliman and were reinforced with new Primaris Marines, thus not only saving the chapter but perhaps even improving it from before. Successors of the Ultramarines.

Catachan Devils: Masters of the art of guerrilla warfare, and hailing from the most brutal death world ever recorded, the Catachan Devil chapter of space marines are known not only for their devastating use of irregular tactics, but also shockingly powerful lightning strikes. They have potential for being an unnaturally large chapter were it not for the fact that their trials (and home world in general) killed nearly all of their candidates. They are constantly searching for their lost Chapter Master Sly Marbo. Successors of the Raven Guard.

The Desert Foxes: recruiting from both the scorching sands of Tallarn and the irradiated deserts of Armageddon, the Desert Foxes are have experience in armored combat in spades. Battle scared and hard as nails, the Desert Foxes are known and feared by all the Emperors foes, Xenos and Traitor alike. Warlord Ghazkull himself has offered “A GRAN’ OLE PRIZE” to whichever Warboss can deliver over a hundred Desert Fox heads to him. Currently under investigation for connections with the Aeldari. Successors of the White Scars.

The Totaler Kriegers: After a civil war rendered Krieg harsh and inhospitable, the people of this death world changed as a people. The Death Korps is over strength compared to most chapters, and their Astartes are freakishly resilient. Their marines are complete fanatics, not only lacking any fear of death but welcoming it completely. In fact, they call their philosophy “Totaler Krieg”, where every Astartes is expected to apply as much death and destruction upon the Emperors enemies before his death. The Astartes of this chapter are also often subject to cybernetification to push the limits of how long an Astartes can fight against the Imperiums foes, and have an unusually large number of dreadnaughts. The root of their fanaticism lies in the shame of their home worlds rebellion, and have resigned themselves to a permanent crusade of redemption. Successors of the Iron Hands.

The Janissary Guard: This chapter draws its support and resources from the Emperors most faithful. Champions of the Ministorum and the Imperial Creed, the Janissary Guard are one of the few chapters of space marines that are tolerated by the Adeptus Sororitus. They most often accept assignments that relate to spreading and protecting the Imperial Creed. Successors of an unknown chapter, presumed Black Templar’s.

The War Dogs: Known as cheats and honor-less thieves to some, heretics and traitors to others, the War Dogs of Savlar are extremely unpopular within the Imperium. The chapter willfully steals from other marine chapters, commits atrocious tech-heresy without second thoughts, and (according to some) can, have, and will work for the highest bidder. Unfortunately for their critics, the War Dogs are wildly popular among most of the rogue trader houses and radical Inquisitors due to their complete disregard for Imperial laws. The chapter itself have also become masters at justifying their crimes. It is not uncommon for entire companies of War Dogs to be branded traitors only to be grudgingly forgiven when they are needed most. (A side note: The War Dogs have an unusually large number of librarians compared to other chapters) Fleet based chapter, Successors of the Blood Ravens.

The Valkyrie Redeemed: Tapping into the frozen potential of both Valhalla and Vostroya, the Valkyries are a disciplined, determined, and stubborn chapter. Well equipped and often overmanned, the Valkyries are an extremely dangerous for to face. Originally built up around the doctrine of anti-ork combat, they have since expanded their horizons to face off against a wide variety of enemies. Few can hold against their icy fury, fewer can claim victory. Currently, the Valkyrie Redeemed are in possession of one of the greatest assets any chapter could hope to have: Chaplain Ciaphis Cain, Hero of the Imperium! Successors of the Space Wolves chapter.

The Iron Line: Disciplined beyond even the standards of other Astartes, this (formally) Mordian based chapter are strict adherents to the Codex Astartes and will call out fellow chapters that are non-codex compliant. Experts in siege and civil suppression, the Iron Line could boast a considerable number of recruits. Now, the Iron Line is fleet based and relying heavily on the newest Primaris Recruits to reinforce themselves after losing their home world. After fighting on Cadia and both home worlds being victim to the Thirteenth Black Crusade, the Iron Line And Gatekeepers have grown a grudging respect towards each other. Successors of the Imperial Fists.

((That’s all I have so far. Open to criticism. Feel free to add your own chapters regardless if they have been done or not, I’d like to see your perspective on a Cadian/Catachan/Valhallan/Etc. Space Marine chapter))
