How do you deal with the stress in this game?

Im not reffering to the in-game mechanic but the actual stress that this game can induce to you? I love this game, I really do! The art style, the soundtrack, the story etc etc and I want to put it in my list of all time favourite games but I have yet to beat it once. I have multiple saves in the game because once I start getting into the late game I get way too scared and stressed to progress. I have only entered the Darkest Dungeon once and after a party wipe I alt+f4ed out and started a new campaign again. While I'm playing I find myself biting my nails and having more frequent smoke breaks than usual. I am curently in a new playthrough and my hamlet is slowly being rebuilt, my characters are reaching higher levels and more bosses are being slain and the stress levels are starting to rise. I also have the Crismon Court DLC that I have yet to touch. I have it activated and I can enter any time I want, I just never feel ready to try it out. Anyone else experienced anything similar with this game? How did you overcome it?
