‘I have never been able to find a challenge amongst my own sons.’ Ferrus remained as still as a mountain as the III Legion serfs clattered into the cage, pushing an arming dummy encased in Akurduana’s magnificent battleplate. Piece by piece, they began unbuckling his training leathers and drilling him into his war harness, ignored by the primarch as he spoke. ‘Even the Legion’s ancients can only match me so far. I built this cage myself, for my brothers.’
Akurduana held out his arms while his serfs machined on plates and engaged the seals. ‘Then these bars could tell some stories.’
‘Fewer than you might think. My brothers are surprisingly reluctant.’
Akurduana’s eyebrow arched. The armourers moved to his legs.
‘Oh?’
‘Fulgrim would joke that he would die with shame, were his sons to see him defeated.’ Ferrus snorted. ‘Vulkan said that he did not want to hurt me.’ And again, looking to his clenching fist. ‘Me. I told him that I would make him a finer weapon than that I gifted to Fulgrim if he would try.’
‘And?’
‘And these bars have few stories to tell.’
‘But not none.’
Ferrus’ eyes glinted like daggers. His smile did not blunt their edge.
Ferrus Manus, being the absolute embodiment of "Might is Right" had a cage built inside of his ship, the Fist of Iron, to be used as a dueling pit for himself and his brothers as no Astartes or man could reasonably compare in a fight.
Ferrus Manus had two brothers he was extremely close to: Fulgrim and Vulkan.
Fulgrim and Ferrus got along well very much due to both striving to better themselves (perfection/strength), and both were master craftsmen albeit Fulgrim being more focused on the beauty and art behind his creations while Ferrus focusing on it's strength and durability.
Vulkan and Ferrus got along well to as both are much more similar to each other than Ferrus was to Fulgrim. Vulkan and Ferrus both are excellent blacksmiths, albeit while Vulkan put's a little flare into his creations, Ferrus is, again, focused on how durable and strong it is. Both command legions as well that are extremely durable and tough to kill with only the Death Guard being more so. It helps as well that where Fulgrim served under Horus until he could mass his strength, Vulkan served under Ferrus until he could do the same, both fought multiple times together on multiple fronts, and Ferrus acted as sort of a mentor to the Salamander.
Those two however weren't the ones to fight Ferrus in his dueling cage...so...who was it?
Who do you imagine would take him on his offer?
I can see Russ, Lion, Horus...maybe Mortarion, but who do you imagine would?
I would say Angron, but I imagine Angron was just outright unsociable and wouldn't associate with any Primarch simply out of the Nails.
