Dreams

I find myself thinking a lot about what I would / will do with my hypothetical fortune in a few years time, and it occurred to me that others probably do the same. Would love to hear your dreams and plans, as well, whether material or altruistic or anything in between.

Let's not pick each other's dreams apart, as I'm sure we've all thought of pitfalls and hindrances. Just wanted a fun post to lift everyone up and cheer each other on :)

The mundane:

First few hundred thousand - invest in real estate. Most likely as rentals so I have somewhat passive income. Will also look to a financial planner for investment strategy.

The lifestyle dream:

Buy property somewhere wooded and secluded, with a stream. Build 4-5 tiny houses, one for each parent and for myself, the remaining for guests or to be used as art or music studios. Maybe have it set up as an 'artist's retreat' or something. Would like to have fancy chickens, goats, alpaca and have the whole thing be off the grid. I would visit/stay here when not working in the city or traveling. It makes my heart really happy to consider.

The charitable dream:

I've traveled extensively in Latin America, and the street dogs there break my heart every time. There just aren't the facilities to get them all neutered and it's a vicious cycle. If I had serious, serious money (or wealthy donors) I would outfit a van as a mobile vet clinic, and pay just out of college veterinarians a salary and offer bonuses towards paying off their college debt to spend six months to a year driving around to villages and offering free neutering and other care. I was just in the Yucatan and there was a chihuahua whose nails were so overgrown, his little feet were twisted and it obviously hurt him. I talked to his human about it and he told me the dog bites him when he tries to cut them. A skilled vet or groomer could get that sweet little guy muzzled and trimmed (or sedated, lol) in no time.

This could also extend to setting up dog sanctuaries in different areas, and hiring locals to run them and care for the dogs. My dream is that this whole thing would make many lives better - the dogs, the vet students, and the locals who make these tiny villages I love so wonderful.

I have many more fantasies but these are the ones I keep coming back to. What are yours?
