AITA for refusing to take off my extremely long nail extensions after hurting a kid with them?

I'm still conflicted about this so I'd thought I'd get reddit's opinion. Last weekend my whole family on my father's side got together to celebrate my grandma's birthday. We have a really large family (think 50+ people, I honestly have no idea) so I hardly know most of the people because we live all over the country and abroad.

I (F18) love doing art on my nails. This includes nail extensions. Since I'm no longer in school, I make pretty ridiculous designs on my nails, it's hard work and can take 4+ hours since I do it all myself, but i love it. At this party one of my cousin's sons, around 8 asks to see my nails, so of course I show him. He looks at them briefly before turning around and I accidentally scratch him on the arm. I will admit it was a pretty big scratch and it bled a bit. He starts crying really loud, and I apologize to him but there wasn't much I could do because we were at a venue not a house so there were no bandaids. All of my family were staring at me and it was pretty embarrassing. I also apologize to his parents but they were visibly annoyed at me. I honestly feel really bad for hurting him.

Later on my dad pulls me to the side and at me that I should take my nail extensions off because they are stupid and are hurting people. I tell him I won't because I like them and it was mistake. The rest of the day he stays mad at me, and over the past few days keeps "reminding" me to take them off. I still haven't. My sister also thinks I'm an asshole for hurting a kid and not really doing anything about it.

AITA?
