Time to dust off my old reddit account to tell the tale of why I don't rp on Tumblr anymore. This was many years back now and their account's long deactivated but I'll still go by character names to protect the innocent.
I used to be a semi-active rper in the Sonic Tumblr community, playing an alternate universe version of Sonic where he's in his Werehog form all day instead of just at night, and over time I accumulated a few regular rp buddies, some of which I'm still friends with to this day. One of them in particular played an alternate version of Super Sonic from the Fleetway Sonic the Comic, shortened to Fleetway Super. For those who are unfamiliar with Fleetway Sonic, in this comic Sonic's super form was crazed and psychotic, sporting swirly red eyes. My rp buddy was playing a version of Fleetway Super that was cute and innocent in contrast to the usual evil character. With set-up out of the way, let's introduce the Bad RPer.
This guy "joined"- and by joined I mean shoved his way into my friend circle- at least a year and a half into my time roleplaying on Tumblr, so I already had an established crew of regulars, but I rp'd with new people all the time and tried to give them a chance. But Sonic.exe is a character I simply don't like both on principle and just cause the creepypasta makes me slightly uncomfortable. I gave it a genuine best shot to rp with him, but I couldn't get into it and private messaged him about it, where he kept insisting that Sonic.exe isn't an evil character and can be sweet too, and when we couldn't see eye to eye and I dropped the conversation he sent a mutual friend of ours to talk to me in his place, not cool bro, big red flag. But it all came to ahead when I noticed on my dashboard the Fleetway rper talking about having a hard time, so I drew a quick little doodle of my character hugging theirs, and since they too are an artist they drew a hug back, it was sweet and we made each other's day.
Wrong move. Very wrong move. Since I wasn't following the Sonic.exe rper, I didn't see that the Fleetway rper was talking to them about having a bad day, and after my drawing I get a passive aggressive pm from Exe along the lines of "Right... make art to cheer up the low-self esteem Sonic rper, but not even acknowledge the Exe rper with the same problem...." Like, dude. We aren't friends and I don't owe you art. That was when I put him on ignore, and OF COURSE, he has the other mutual friend be his in-between asking to be friends again, but no dice this time. They made a second account and tried to contact me on it, but after ignoring that one too this toxic person was finally free from my life, and became a major component of why my Tumblr account is for art only now. (There's also a semi-stalker I had for a while on tumblr that put the final nail in the rp coffin, but that's a story for another day)
