DS Underworld Speculation and Diagram

DS Underworld

The Land – A Grayscale Wasteland that leads to a Beach.

The Beach - Where the souls of the dead wait for the ferry, if they can not pay its toll they are stranded on the beach and are now in a state of purgatory where they may drown there sorrows in the depths of the sea or fill the air with there cries.

The Waters – The Souls that drowned in these waters wash upon The Beach. Leviathans and their kin swim upside down and strand upon the beaches, littering it with death and decay.

The Ferry – Take souls to the other side where ever that may be.

The Thing - a guard of the waters and a devourer or collector of drowned souls.

The Black - Black Waters that flow on to the beach and throughout The War, occasionally catching ablaze from the embers of conflict.

The Shore - A Black Sand Beach of death and war.

The War - The echos of war and conflict play out an eternal PTSD nightmare.

-Notes-

The Land - People Souls or Bodies may get lost in the Grayscale Wasteland or no matter the direction you head in it always ends up leading back to The Beach.

  • Note: This could exist in the Land Of The Living, seamlessly connecting to The Land of the Underworld that leads to “The Beach”. So UCA Physical west coasts Beach could be “The Beach” that everyone is referring to.

The Beach – May take inspiration from Cocytuc and may be filled with sounds of wails and cries of stranded souls or physical bodies. The Beach could also be a combination of Cocytus and Acheron beach. Cocytus is a Beach that exists on the Other Side. Acheron's beach is found in the Land Of The Living, it leads to the Other Side and is said to connect to Cocytus's waters.

  • Note: Any beach in the Land Of The Living could possibly act as Acheron's beach, being a place where the Ferry could come and pick up the dead.

The Waters – The water could be loosely connected to all the waters of the Underworld Cocytus, Acheron, Lethe, Stys, Phlegethon, or Could be connected to all of the waters we see in DS having many forms and functions similar to the Greeks Underworld.

A list of DS Liquids.

Time Fall – Could be Water that has been stranded from the Other Side. And caught up in the water cycle.

  • Note: Maybe DS's sky is covered with a Stranded Body Of Water and some of that water could be
  • freed by something interacting with it, in specific ways that makes it fall like rain. Like when Higg's shot a bolt of what looked like electricity into the sky and it started to rain. Lightning from normal rain clouds could trigger the Time Fall as well and could actually be what Higg's was doing. The bolt triggers a storm that eventually turns into Time Fall. This could also explain why we haven't seen the sun or moon in the game.
  • Note: The Body Of Water in the sky could be seen as Acheron and the gateway to the Other Side. And all of the earth would be its beach.
  • Note: The Underworld and the Land of the Living could be facing one another. and If one world is above the other then their weather and water cycles could be shared.
  • Note: Time fall could be tears from all the Stranded people from The Beach. that Fall from the Underworld on to the earth
  • Note: The water in the sky idea has an MGS Survive vibe to it. To be honest There's a lot of DS that's seams awkwardly similar to Survive and also very reminiscent of unused MG concepts. I want to say that Kojima was working on something as a proof of concept, possibly for SH's, MGS, or other IP while he was at Konami, but after Kojima “left”, Konami took some of those concepts and turned it into Survive. Hideo is using similar ideas for DS he just changed it enough to not be connected to whatever IP it was going to be. Allowing Kojima to make a new IP where he doesn’t have to shoehorn his ideas into it.
  • Note: Devil's advocate, the DS similarity’s to Survive could be used as evidence to help support The Ruse.

Tears - Chiral Allergy Tears could be some of the Underworlds Waters leaking from the Others Side. Possibly do to there souls or bodies being Stranded on The Beach. This could also apply to people that were Stranded and found a way back to the Land Of The Living, kind of like how Heartman works.

  • Note: The Tears could also be caused by the effect of Cocytus and The Waters of Lament making people cry. Time Fall Rain or Hand Puddles could contain The Waters Of Lament, triggering a Chiral Allergy. BT's could have a connection to Cocytus or The Beach and Being near them is like being on The Beach which triggers the allergy,
  • Note: The waters of Cocytus could be made from the tears of all the stranded lamenting souls.
  • Note: Some of the above ideas may be linked to the reason why Higg's licks Fragile's tears.
  • Note: All of the UCA could be seen as the beach of Cocytus, And Chiral Allergy Tears could be a side effect of being on The Land Of Lament.

The Ferry - May take inspiration from Cheron or his boat and other Underworld ferry Men like the Egyptian 'He Who Sees Behind Him'

  • Note: The Ferry's hull looks kind of like a Multi-Hull / Catamaran with a gap running down its center.
  • Note: The Ferry when I first saw it felt like a Landing Craft of some kind, possibly ones used during Invasion Of Normandy or other wars but It does not look like it has a Bow Ramp, at least none that I'm familiar with.
  • Note: The LCVP is a Landing Craft for WWII It doesn't look like the boat we see in the release date trailer, but there could be more than one Ferry and Ferry Man.
  • Note: Interestingly The LCVP is called a Higgins boat named after its designer. DS's Higgs could be a nickname for Higgins, it's mostly a stretch but Higg's could be our Ferry man or have been one. The ferryman is some times Rendered as a skeleton in a cloak or Grim Reaper. And Higgs has a Reaper look to him mixed with a Pharaoh's look, do to his hood and Void Out symbol looking like a Nemes or Pharaoh's crown. This could also link him to the Egyptian Ferry Man 'He Who Sees Behind Him'
  • Side Note: Conjecture and blatant a temp to shoehorn in a link to Higg's and 'He Who Sees Behind Him'. Nemes crown, having an interpretive link to a cobra. there Hood markings are some times called false eyes, making them look like they have eyes in the back of its head. Hence the 'He Who Sees Behind Him'
  • Note: Higg's hood has no such markings.
  • Note: The LCVP, Higgins boat has two nicknames, Peter and Papa. So Higgs's name could be “Papa” Peter Higgins. We do have a “Mama” in DS it wouldn’t be too crazy to have someone designated as “Papa”. Higg's does have a BB which could make Homo Demen's or other characters give him the nickname “Papa”.
  • Note: Kojima has named people after warcraft like Raiden “Jack” Mr.Thunder Bolt being inspired by “Jack” Mitsubishi J2M Raiden \thunder bolt])
  • Side Note: Higgs could be named after “Peter Higgs” the man affiliated with the Higgs boson. This could add to the notion that Higg's mite actually be named Peter.
  • Note: If there is more then one ferry in the game I'm hoping its a Land Craft.
  • Note: Sam also could be considered a Ferryman. Sam carrying packages and bodies could be seen as an allegory for Ferrying souls and the dead. And the name 'He Who Sees Behind Him' is a perfect meta description of Sam and his 3rd person camera.

The Thing - Maybe based off of a version of Cerberus that watched over the river Styx. It may be a devourer or collector of drowned Souls or physical bodies. Taking them to the beach or someplace else. Eating them may turn them into BT's

The Black - Possibly connected to Phlegethon The Waters Of Fire. We've seen that The Black liquid is flammable when Cliff ignited it. one of the aspects of The Waters, possibly seen as the blood of the Underworld, like oil is said to be the blood of the earth.

Note: May be connected to Some of the BT their handprint pool looks like, The Black.

TYPES

Note: Toil = Black

Note: BT spectators float possibly in The Waters.

BT Mothers - Floating BT's with the umbilical cord and babies

  • Note: These BT could be Still Mothers. and may be able to use there "BB" to see in the Land Of The Living. Like how Sam sees into "The Land Of The Dead" with his BB, making it a two-way street.

BT's Fathers - The BT's statues that can be seen in Heartman's Office. Have “Strands” hanging off of them. Two of the “Strands” look like long middle fingers that extend and dangle from the tips of the finger bones. they leave Toil handprints on the ground.

Note: There's no direct evidence of these BT's being actual Fathers, it just makes sense if there are Mother BT's then there could be a father BT.

Note: Both floating BT types "BT fathers" and "BT Mothers," leave Toil handprints that form on nearby surfaces as they move around, their Toil prints can spread and form a pool where figures can come out and grab someone then drag them off to be eaten by a BT creature.

Toil Puddle - The figures in the black Puddles, the puddles could be connected to the Toil Creatures, either being the same thing or have a symbiotic relationship. The figures could be all the bodies or souls that have been eaten by one of The Toil creatures and now are slaves for The Toil or lost as another a part of it.

  • Note: It could be loosely connected to the Phlegethon River or one of the other Rivers.
  • Side Note: BT "fathers" Mothers and babies all may be able to create Toil Puddles.

Toil Creatures – They look to be made of the same stuff as The Toil Puddle. Higgs could be making them from The Toil. or summoning them from the Other Side or they are already beached in The Land Of The Living and are just being beckoned to a new location.

  • Note: Possibly there are different types of these creatures. Land, Sea, and Air the Lion is a Land Type the Shark-Squid is a Sea Type and we haven't seen an Air Type yet.
  • Note: When I was talking to u/Navaid-S about the Three Creature Types he brought up an interesting point, that the Decima Engine may already have support for Land, Sea and Air Creatures do to the existence of Horizon Zero Dawns Creatures
  • Note: The Three Creature Types could be a loose interpretation of Cerberus Three heads being the three types, there may be only one of each type in the game and each may keep coming back even if defeated.

Hand Face Colossus - Athe possible personification of the Toil and could be the main thing that controls all of the Toil. then again Higgs could have summoned it, beckoned it or created it.

Note: this could be considered the body of Cerberus with the Creature type as its heads.

The Shore - Possibly Beach of a War where we see Deadman and BB. The Beach of Normandy may be the main inspiration for The Shore Design.

The War - Seams to take inspiration from Hades/Hell. We have seen elements of WWI and WWII and maybe the Korean or Vietnam War. We could see the Gulf War and other Modern War aspects like Cliff's equipment.

  • Note: We may also see other elements of war or conflicts like Medieval Wars or Something Older, Have wars from Different countries and civilizations, there may be different soldier types like Knights, Samurai, Ninjas, Viking, Cowboys, etc. These types of figures and there set pieces may be small only being hinted at, with having there weapons, armor, ruins and artifacts, sprinkled throughout the Land Of War. It could look like a graveyard with one war burying the other. This may be a cycle where one war rises as the other one falls in an endless war game. It could be random to which wars show up or the cycle of war could follow the timeline of war, moving forward in time or backward.
  • Note: The Land Of War could also have wars that bleed into one another existing all in the same space and all happening at the same time.
  • Note: The Land Of War could have there own plots of land with there own borders in the hellscape.
  • Note: Either way Sam or cliff will experience only some of the wars in the game from our POV.
  • Note: The weapons and other items from The War Land may be picked up and used in the War Land, they may be able to be taken back into the Land Of The Living. Using these may have their consequences in either realm especially if used to kill someone. This could happen if the Physical body crossed over then grabbed something then when back.
  • Note: The Physical body may need a soul to grab an underworld object. These objects may be made of soul and only used by a soul, if Sam's soul is stranded or disconnected it may prevent him from directly interacting with something soul-based, this could change throughout the cores of the game. A Soul Weapon may only affect souls. Resetting them to a Hell spawn-point. If used on the living it may send them to hell or the Beach. acting as a Soul Reaver and Death's scythe.
  • Note: The Land Of The War could be seen as an allegory on how most video games are War Games. To some extent, there is an expectation for games to have some War/Conflict elements in them.
  • Note: The Game of Hell is one with no end and a true devil's playground. A LIvE Service that has chained us to Cerberus with a shackle that devourers itself. Kept in an Ouroboros state with the dragon serpent choking on its own tail. We Rehellspawn again and again, Lost as a Homo Demen madly doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results, playing the never-ending role of Sisyphus, pushing up a stone to have it fall down again, SlAVEs to our Saves, we grind to hoard, and we Farm to waste. Kill and reave for pleasure and sport, reenacting our trauma, picking at the scab of self-loathing, "exercising" our demen making the madness stronger. We drowned our selves in the void to fill our void. stranding further away from our self and each other.
  • Note: Devil's advocate, hellfire burning off our ignorance, kind of like a fever does to an illness. turning failures into lessons. Learn how to persevere. Facing your demens and exercising them to make you stronger. To learn from them to heal past trauma, to reflect as a feedback-loop.
  • Note: The Game Hell is a safe place to act out our demens, to take a good look at them and to experience things that are too evil or taboo to do in IRL. To find new perspectives that can only be found by playing devil's advocate. to find the satirical message of morality in a place devoid of it. Socially stranding our self with strangers that persevere the hell of ignorance and bigotry to find commonality and family.
  • Note: I haven't seen many “Peace” Games. It's kind of tricky to define what a Peace game would be, peace as an action could be expressed by connections and cooperation, but peace as a state is based on the absence of war and conflict. So any game that does not have conflict in it could be considered a peace game. Most games have a challenge aspect to them which could be considered a form of conflict. So the meaning of peace could be a state of maintaining a balance with, challenge and ease, so it does not turn in to either conflict or sloth.
  • Note: Creative games kind of have a peace element to them, they are a good example on how a system of abundance could possibly function. This kind of system has a low challenge experience, having Player “vs” Space, Choice, imagination, and limitation to tools. another name for this kind of game is an Art Game.

Waters Of the Greek Underworld

Note: There are five rivers or waters in the Greek underworld and each as an aspect or trait and guardian.

Cocytus- (The River of Wailing or Lamentation) Named for those Souls that can't pay the Ferry's Toll are Stranded on the Banks of Cocytus and wail and cry. Cocytus was believed to flow into the Acheron and was the only one that did not flow into Hades. a guardian is not mentioned from what I've read thus far, Its guardian could be itself.

Lethe- (The River Of Oblivion) upon entering the Underworld the dead would have to drink the waters of Lethe to forget there memory. Its guardian is Lethe the Goddess of forgetfulness

Acheron- (The River of woe or pain) The ferryman Charon transports the spirits of the dead to the underworld. It is said that it flows into the land of the living. Its guardian is Charon.

Styx- (The river of Hatred ) Largest of the five rivers, Achilles was dipped into The River Styx by his mother as an infant, giving him his invulnerability and his “Achilles heel”. Its guardian is Styx the Goddess and a nymph of the River Styx. Styx was in love with The River Phlegethon that ran parallel to it.

Phlegethon- (The River of Fire) it is said to travel into the depths of the underworld, it also leads to Tartarus. Its guardian is itself Phlegethon

Cocytus- The Chiral Allergy Tears could be connected to the waters of Lamentation.*see more under “The Waters”.

Lethe - DS kind of feels like there some amnesia in it. A version of “The River Of Oblivion” could be an explanation for characters losing some of or all of there memory.

  • Note: It could also be Cultural Amnesia. Our culture focuses on hyper-specialization and only a few people know certain things. If they disappear or die that lack of knowledge would create Cultural Amnesia. A loss of the Internet or other technologies would have a similar effect on people's culture.

Acheron- The way to the Other Side. As a gate or road.

Styx- Any of the DS characters could have been made invulnerable by a version of “The River Styx” and they all could have some form of an “Achilles heel”. Sam, Amelie, Cliff, Higg's, Deadman, Heartman Die-hardman, Mama, Fragile, BB's, Homo Demen's, Bandits, Preppers. Could all have a different version of invulnerability all manifesting in unique ways. Extinction Factor could be one of these Distinctions. An example could be Sam surviving Void Outs or when Sam fell off of Ludens Fan's cliff he seemed to take it pretty well. Sam's skin and nails could be his Achilles heel but muscles, bones, etc. could be invulnerable. and Heartman could be invulnerable but still has a flawed heart as his Achilles heel. So his Heart does stop on him, but he takes no damage from being dead or getting revived by his AED.

  • Note: The notion of invulnerability could also be outsourced via using Time Fall to heal or other Phonnmon and tech.

Phlegethon- A Portion of The Waters Of Styx are mingled with Phlegethon this marriage is a symbol of there love. Together they act similarly to oil in water and burn like it too.

  • Note: could Be connected to BT's and Cliff and Higgs

My DS Speculative World and Underworld model

Notes

  • In my speculative model for The Waters Of Underworld. There is one body of water that is divided into five Waters that are all connected. An Ocean that is separated only by its aspect and guardian. These waters start out from The Beach.

The reasoning for the Order of The Waters - Coytuc has a beach and flows it to Acheron. Phlegethon has a beach and flows it to Styx and the Land of the Underworld. leaving Lethe in between Acheron and Styx.

  • Shades – Souls or Spirits

Speculation:

When people die in DS there Shade is released from there body and fall into the sky and into The Waters Of Oblivion, if they are not revived there Shade drowned and wash on to The Beach Of Lament. Because they drank The Waters Of Oblivion by drowning in them, they lose their memories. Most of the characters in DS may have drowned in these waters and forgotten some or all of there memories. It is also possible that someone didn't drown and were able to swim ashore retaining their memories.

Some have bodies that are divided in two, these two bodies are connected by a black strand that runs from one "body" that lies dead in The Land Of The Living and the other lies dead on the bottom of The Seabed, a shade can swim back to this "body" to get to its other "body" in The Land Of The Living via a black Cord "bridge". This may be something only Sam can do.

If any of the Shades could not pay The Ferry's Toll they would be Stranded on the Beach of Lament to join in its song of despair. The Stranded Shades may choose to drowned there sorrow in the Waters of Oblivion to be wash back ashore oblivious to there blight. The Stranded Shades are marked with an allergy, The Tears of Lament.

Those who made it ashore with or without there memories, could have been revived and have come back to the Land of The Living. Heartman may be one that still remembers his past but may not have much info outside his expertise.

If someone has the toll for the Ferry they can embark and leave the Beach of Lament and sail through The Waters Of Woe. all the Shades on the ferry consume The Waters of Oblivion as they pass through Oblivion's mists. Moving on to the Waters Of Hatred and lastly, Waters Of Toil then, landing on the black soaked Shores that seeps into the Land Of War, catching ablaze from the flakes of flame. The Land Of War Echo Conflict and Strife that expresses itself primarily as all the World's Wars.

Some Shade may have fallen into the Waters Of Hatred first and are pulled by the undercurrent, through waters of Woe, Oblivion, and Lament, and some may have even landed in the waters of Toil. Drowning in one of these waters or passing through them may give a person Dooms if they are revived.

Guardian / Five Floating Figures / Bosses

Note: “Boss fight” level's are not “Fought' in the boss's land similar style and assets may be shared.

Note: All Boss Lands are done in FPS with a PT puzzle level in it. An example would be You wash up on to a “beach“ but this beach is a room similar to PT's room. kind of like PT There's only one right way to solve it, you'll keep coming back to it trying to fully complete it and should take some form of teamwork to finish it. Each land will attempt to trigger an emotional response.

Note: The Guardian could be androgynous

Note: boss "fight" may persist throughout the environment as part of the BT ecosystem. Example BT "Mothers" float in the air with their "Babies" as a detection system. Sam must take care not to wake the specter baby or to disturb the "Mothers". Sam covers his mouth to help prevent detection. When alerted the Toil blackens the ground Slowing down Sam, then specter "Mothers" rush in to grab Sam. \"Father" specter may do this too.] Then either the "Mothers" or "fathers" or both come out of the Toil pool and grabs and pulls Sam down. these Toil guards carry Sam off to a BT creature, mid-boss or boss, if Sam defeats the Creature it may turn the Toil BT's into the golden hand flower that Sam can farm. Now if Sam gets eaten then a Void Out happens. Being eaten may be one of the ways for Sam to get to a "Boss Land" puzzle. Being near a Void out is not the same as being eaten Sam just "dies" and comes back.)

Lament - may be The Water of Lament itself but can create a watery humanoid form of a man.

Vibe

  • Beached death, Siren / Mermaid, 1/2 -stranded, caught in-between, getting stuck in the game, living dead, Allergy, (Sence)

“Boss fight”

  • "fighting" the beach death reanimated crabs, sharks, whales, fish, separately or connected into a chimera of death crabs for legs shark whales for bodies a la Junji Ito
  • caught between the land and the sea
  • This "Boss" may possess the ability to manipulate someone's Chiral Allergy. If someone feels or sees BT's and other Underworld phenomenon via the Allergy six sense, and that Allergies signal could be triggered by this "boss" without the presence of an actual BT. Then this "Boss" could create a labyrinth of lies to lead someone astray. This could be happening throughout the whole game, having mirages of BT and false alarms could put someone on edge, adding an I'm I going mad element to the game. Another possible manipulation of this is not having an Allergic reaction when there are BT's around, creating traps and making nowhere feel safe, if BT's have to be in Rain/ Time Fall or near it, then that would help to narrow down the places that are not safe. But having this kind of uncertainty with An Allergies reliability as a six sense could give someone more of a reason for using a BB because they are more Reliable detector.
  • In a way, Sam could be considered "blind" and BB is like having a Guide Dog.
  • Blinded by tears could be more literal where Sam cry so much he can not see.

Land Of Lament

  • A level that evokes Lamentation, crying, wailing. told lies that would make you sad, makes you think that you have lost some things special. messing with connections or progress and save data. Make you think that you have to start over. Give you something special just to take it away. getting stuck in the game

Woe - Ferry Man,

  • The grim reaper, war boats, water, buoyancy, old man, father time, porter, caught between, gate, (Scene)

“Boss fight”

  • This "Boss" would "Ferry" Sam to random "beaches" that Sam have to play through these could be the "Boss Lands"

"Bosses fight "

  • The “ boss fight” already happened or keeps happening and we don't remember any of it, tell we pass through the Water Of Oblivion or Drink the Water Of Truth from The Banks Of The Fields. After doing that we remember and play these “fights”.

  • This could allow the Boss Oblivion to exist as a known DS character. Like for example Amelie, if written in the right way where she is only mentioned when seen by someone and Sam seems to act indifferent when someone talks about Amelie when she's not around him, but Sam is actually acting confused because he has know idea who there talking about. If done with a known character the “fights” may have to be forth wall braking where we the gamer forgot the fights. Then again holograms could add a loophole, where The Player and Sam can remember her only when she shows up as a hologram.

  • Every time we meet Oblivion we remember the last “fight” and we play it, then play a new “fight” these replay stack exponentially and may happen even in a “fight” if you stop seeing her. The replays are predictable but time continues and you may take damage from the real “fight” while you are remembering/replay an old one. R&D would help make the replay easier

  • Meta, fake game crashes, fake save can not be found or is corrupted, glitches, frame rate drops, buttons don't work or have wrong input.

Land Of Oblivion

  • A level that evokes Oblivion, Amnesia,

Hatred – Is The Water of Hatred is itself but can create a Watery humanoid form of a woman.

Vibe

  • vulnerable, weakens, frail, wither, grow old, pestilence, invulnerable, treasure hunt (?)

Bosses fight ideas

  • This "Boss" is invulnerable it has a moveable Achilles Heel that it hides and must be found to banish this "Boss". It is also made out of The Waters, this Boss some time teams up with the Toil make both of them invulnerable.

Land Of Hatred

  • A level that evokes hatred and wrath

Toil – Is The Water of Toil itself but can create a Toiled humanoid form of a man.

Vibe

  • formless black, chimera, changeling, ameba, fractal, spawn (?)

Bosses fight ideas

  • This Boss could be fractally divided into all of the different types of Toil, and it may have a hierarchy. It may have to be banished by using Sam's blood useing life to "fight" death. The blood could also be explosive, flammable, or void out. sending parts of the Toil back to the Other Side or to a Hellspawn point. Each drop of blood makes it smaller and slower, making it easier for Sam to getaway.

Crossing Over

*Souls and Physical objects including bodies can go to the Other Side and vice versa.

Heartman - His Soul goes to the beach, every 21 minutes when his heart stops. He stays there for three minutes looking for his family, before being revived by an automated external defibrillator. His physical body stays in his room at a Bridge Base or Facility.

Still Mother's – They are brain dead, their bodies are being kept alive in Capital Knot City ICU, their soul is possibly on the Other Side at The Beach.

  • Note: Floating BT's with the umbilical cord and babies could be Still Mothers. They may not be stranded on the Other Side at The Beach, but stranded in The Land Of The Living as a DS Ghost.
  • Note: The Still Mothers may have artificial babies in their wombs, that connects them to the Chiral network, which are also connected to Bridge Base Incubators, For a BB to Update it's Womb Data with it Still Mother.
  • Note: The artificial womb babies could Manifest as the dolls when on the Other Side.
  • Side Note: Floating BT Mothers with babies may have "fathers" they could be the Toil or The floating BT with the Strands hanging off them.

Amelie - Her Body is on The Beach she can't age because of this. Her soul may be in the Land Of The Living on the west coast at Edge Knot City.

  • Note: “The Beach” could be the physical beach on the west coast acting like the physical beach and river of Acheron that is said to be on the boundary of the Land OfThe Living and the Underworld. The beach of the dead has been beached or stranded in the Land Of The Living. Possibly combining the physical beach Acheron with the spiritual beach of Cocytus.
  • Side Note: Sam may be dead and in Limbo/Purgatory and has created a false self-narrative and reality. The character in the game act as Psychopomps that are trying to help get Sam to go west, via different methods, like using love and hope or Hate and Fear or some of both, each acts as a carrot on a stick playing off of whatever vices engage Sam and Us to move closer to The Beach so he can get on The Ferry to cross over to the Other Side. Everything that happens in UCA, Time Fall, BT's and other realms are just manifestations of Limbo and are just a means to an end, Sam is only one that's stranded, we The Player controlling Sam are the true Psychopomps that are leading him to the Beach and beyond.
  • Note: The Artificial Womb may be an allegory for Sam's false self-narrative and reality. Sam may need to Update his reasons for doing things in the game, by giving Sam some narrative, via cut scenes, "Codec" calls, recordings and monologs to help suspend his disbelief.
  • Note: It can also be an allegory for The Player needing an update of the games content to keep engaged. So The Player doesn't go into "autotoxemia" like a BB does and stop playing a game.
  • Sidenote: MGSV put The Player in an "autotoxemia" by not engaging the player with enough well-paced narrative info, cut scenes, and codec calls. If the game's story had some "narrative water" that The Player could have drunk while playing in its sandbox desert, and not just surviving on the "narrative oasis" that happens at the beginning, middle and ends of missions. This could be done by having an "Open Codec" call with someone as commentary, have them express their opinion about the mission and react to what's happening in said mission, and having your choices and actions, change those reactions. Some Characters would give good advice, hints, and tell jokes, some could do small talk or tell stories, and others may feel like backseat drivers. This is Where the option of Being able to choose who can and can not comment comes in. to mute the characters that get on your nerves or to just have some peace and quiet when you want it and turn it on again when you're getting narratively parched. There could also be a way to prompt a reaction from someone by looking at something in particular, while in FPS. Then press a button when a prompt appears. This is like at the beginning of 'Phantom Limbs' MGSV mission, you can prompt a comment from Ocelot, by looking at the right thing and press L1 while using the "Int. Scope". Now An example of an "Open Codec" would be like the 'Shining Lights Even In Death' mission. Having more than one person's codec open could create conversations between those people, in special cases, characters may have someone else join in the call or be interrupted by someone. If this happens in DS were we're getting narratively hydrated by being able to be on an open call with Deadman, Heartman, Die-hardman, Mama, Fragile, Amelie, maybe even Cliff, Higg's, Homo Demen's, Bandits, and Preppers, etc. our narrative wells would not run dry. Sam will most likely talk to BB too, also help quelch our narrative thirst even if the game lacks this kind of feature

Deadman - Physical Body and Soul may be in The War Lands with His Brain in the Land Of the Living in a jar connected to a computer that’s connected to the chiral network. And he exists as a hologram in the Land of the Living.

  • Note: I say Deadman's Physical Body because he has a BB in an artificial womb. If BB was outside of the womb then I would say spirit. This only works if the spirit can't touch and hold physical objects, Physical Body and Soul may be Chiral to each other and not able to interact if the connection is lost. death could sever an astral umbilical cord that links the soul to the Physical body allowing them to work together

Cliff - He looks like he was in the Land Of The Living at one point with a BB, and ends up in The War Land. Cliff's physical body may be dead or destroyed and his soul is in The War Land or his body and soul may be in the War Land. Then again His physical body could be in The War Land with his soul in the Land Of The Living like Amelie or the other way around.

Sidenote: a broken bridge could be Identified as a cliff.

Fragile – Her Body seams to be in the Land Of The Living, shes able to grab Sam Arm and they also touch their foreheads together.

  • Note: Fragile's soul could be disconnect but stranded in the land of the living. Keeping both in the Land Of The Living

Mama - Her body and soul is most likely in the Land Of The Living, but her baby was born on the Other Side so its body is most likely stranded on the Beach and its soul is still connected to Mama in the Land Of The Living. The baby may not be able to age because of this.

BB- Its body and soul could be in the Artificial Womb Pod. Then again BB soul could be outside of the pod but connected to his body via an astral umbilical cord. The Pod simulates its Still Mother Womb, the Pod does need to be updated with current data periodically. There may be an astral cord that leads to the Still Mother or a digital umbilical cord.

BT's - BT's maybe from the Land Of The Dead Stranded in the Land Of The Living or could be human souls that have been disconnected from their bodies but never crossed over and are stranded in the Land Of The Living or combination of different types of stranding”s

Extras

Note: We could wash up or be ferried to other "Beaches" like Elysium (Elysium fields), Aaru (Field Of Reeds) or Tartarus. Other versions of afterlives like some form of Dante's Divine Comedy's Circles, Terraces, Spheres or other cultures myths could be seen.

Note: These Beaches do not have to be an actual beach, for example, waking up on the floor of a creepy room like at the start of PT could be our "Beach" and playing through a Laybreth level would be the "Land". We could also wash up into other IP games or content like Horizon Zero Dawn, Control, Too Old To Die, Young, Conan, etc. or someplace abstract, we could even go to The Moon.

Note: The Bank and The Field = Elysium (Elysimfields) or Aaru (Field Of Reeds). An interpretation of the Reeds in the Field could be a field of white strands.

Note: There are other waters in the underworld there is also a pool of remembrance, it's called Mnemosyne named after the goddess of memory,

Note: The Truth- flows on to the beach and throughout out Filed of Reeds a version of the pool of remembrance,

Note: It is almost as if the land Of The Living is full of an invisible Liquid the BT float in, it's possibly The Water of the Underworld. It could be everywhere or just around BT's and areas with a high Chiral Density like when we see floating rocks or Cryptobiote's crawling in the air.
