((Alright just a fair warning, this is gonna be a rather long story since there will be a lot to bring up and discuss. Everything might not be 100% accurate since this did happened back in 2015-2016 and a lot has happened since then. Regardless, if you have the patience or not, please do be advised. Other than that, let's get right into the story.))
Here's some background.
I was a part of a group based from DeviantART, and at the time our group was looking for a different chatting program that was better than Skype (this is around the time when Skype was declining as a service), and our previous choice was an app called Raidcall. Unfortunately, the Raidcall servers for the US discontinued as it was originally an Russian app, which led us finding and choosing the now so popular Discord. The time where this all began was around September 2015, so this was EARLY Discord where friends lists weren't even a thing (Ah, Baby Discord was such a strange creature). Here's the first bit of context, our group chat was relatively easy to join in at the time. Raidcall was not very popular and wasn't user friendly, so when we shift to Discord, we advertised our group chat and a lot of new people joined in (though of course you had to be a member on the DA group first before entering), which included the very man who would be the center of this story. We'll call him "Kain".
Right off the bat, Kain was just, to put it lightly, off. For starters, he'll RP during normal/casual conversations, acting like if he was a character and would constantly derail discussions, and when called out he either acts like an idiot or just continued RPing. He eventually stop since sometime after that we made a roleplaying chat and all was good, but little did we know this was just the beginning of Kain's spiral into madness.
Before I continue, there's a bit more context I want to address first. 1) I had a huge crush on someone at the time and sometime after we joined Discord together we started dating and became a couple, she'll be significant to the story too so we'll call her "Elise". And 2) Me and several people (including Elise and Kain) RPed a lot together, so there were plots being developed and several characters being introduced, so a lot of people involved tend to take the RP seriously, I promise this is important. Anyways, let's continue with the story.
The first time where I started to have a bit of distaste towards Kain is when he ruined a future plot I was gonna start because of how stupidly busted his character was. At this point, I might as talk about his character because it is something to note. His character is practically his avatar, that being a fedora wearing, scythe wielding, dimensional shifting, half Eldritch-Bird man... Yeah I'm not making that up. He'll go on about how his character is corrupted by Elder Gods (yes the Lovecraftian ones) and his character was just basically an Edgelord. What's worse is that he'll make it known how powerful his character is, in fact, he was so stupidly strong that he would break pocket dimensions and would try and defeat one of my characters in one-shot. The worst part about all of this is that the guy would constantly god-mod, he didn't care what you do, he'll just do it for the hell of it because he thinks his character is somehow more important than everyone else. So when he was pulling this stunt with a plot that I wanted to start, I got pissed and just scrapped the plot entirely because I know he'll just ruin it even more if I did continue. It almost feels like you HAVE to be overpowered to even keep up with him because that's how bad it got.
If you think that was bad, OH BOY, that was nothing compared to everything else this guy did, and this is where the descent truly begins.
There's another guy involved who is significant in the story since he interacted with Kain and had to dealt with his BS the most, we'll call him "Bear". Bear was (and still is) a no-nonsense kind of guy who is one of the moderators of the server and is a veteran RPer. He was also one of the very few people who would call out Kain regularly, such as calling him out for god-modding and his general nasty behavior, and he has been very critical of Kain's character. So one day, Bear once again calls out Kain for the same shit (it was either god-modding or something along those lines), and Kain just went APESHIT, threatening to beat up and KILL Bear. This was out in the public and when I witnessed this I was pretty shocked. Thankfully, shortly after that Kain was banned, but unfortunately it was only temporary.
Here's some more context to bring up. Basically how our group functioned is that we had a 3 strike banning rule. The first one would result in a temp-ban for a week. The second one would result in a temp-ban for a month. The third and final one would result in a full-blown perma-ban. I wont spoil much, but I think you guys have a good idea where this is going. Now back to the story.
Kain did eventually came back since it was a week long ban, and honestly not much happened for a while. Of course Kain continued with his usual BS, but at this point people just expected it and didn't do much about it, so it was whatever for the most part. Kain did eventually get banned again but I mostly forgot what happened, all I remember was that he caused a huge commotion and that got a lot of people talking and he basically just threatened EVERYONE involved (which was 10+ people I think? Again I can't remember much). Around this time, I was continuing my loving relationship with Elise and it was public knowledge at this point that we were a thing. Another thing to keep note is that both Elise and Kain hanged out and RPed a lot, as if they were close friends, and trust me... this is unfortunately important to the story.
Once Kain came back for the second time things were a bit strained with him and a few other people, myself included. He continued to RP but there wasn't really much to note except for the occasional god-modding. There were people who were still friends with him at the time, which is why he was kept around for as long as he did. At this point, I was kind of fed up with him. Not only has he made RPing not fun whenever he's around, but him basically threatening one of my friends and several other people just didn't sit well with me. Plus, I felt like he was going after Elise which really bothered me since we were a couple, but we'll get to that. In a way, I was sort of looking forward to the next time Kain messes up again, which led me into a direct involvement with Kain's final ban.
I'll say right now, back then I was a self-righteous little shit and it isn't one of my proudest moments, so I guess at the time I wished I handled things better, but this is what essentially happened.
So one night, there was a big RP happening in the roleplaying room with one of the more popular RPers. There were a lot of people involved and because of this the room was off limits for anyone else who wanted to join, and Kain so happens to be one of them. Normally people would ask if they can join the RP, and if the people involved said no, they would just move on with their day. Kain on the other hand wanted to join so badly that he was forcing himself into the RP, not "trying to", WAS forcing himself into it without asking. This of course didn't sit well with anyone in the RP so they told him to back off, and Kain didn't take that too kindly as he quickly snapped at everyone. This kind of pissed me off, so I called him out as well and of course he snapped at me as well. I wasn't having it so I had the bright idea to directly confront Kain myself in DMs, and these are the following messages...

So yeah, the dude basically tried to "psychoanalyze" me, saying that my relationship with Elise wasn't good for her, thought that just because you watch the news you're somehow better? (Still not sure what he meant by that) Made several false assumptions about my life, and by the end of it all he just threatened me... Yeah, it was a shitshow.
I mean nowadays I just laugh at it because this guy seriously can't be this delusional, I mean sure I was acting like a little shit, but GOD it was pretentious. However, at the time I'm not gonna lie that I was pretty shaken up by it, not just with the false assumptions about my life but also the threat at the end of it all. I felt scared that he might actually hurt me. So of course, after this exchange, I reported this to the Moderators and they took action. They decided to bring him into a private call, and unfortunately I wasn't there for it, but from what I heard they basically confronted him and he immediately got aggressive. He was making comments about how "rose-tinted" we are as a group, that he knows the "real world" because he watches the News, and have made disturbing comments like bombing an entire anime convention because he hated Anime and anything Japan (which is ironic because our group was based around a particular Japanese shoot-em-up game series). So yeah, the guy is fucking nuts.
So as you could imagine, the moderators were done with his ass and finally perma-banned him from the group. All the while he was calling us "rose-tinted" and "goody goody two shoes" because we "focus too much on the good side" and other BS. Yeah, this guy was an Edgelord through and through. I was finally relieved since now I no longer have to deal with the guy, but the story doesn't end there.
Not too long after his perma-ban, he made a journal entry on DeviantART, bringing up stuff that happened with him and the group. I was one of the few people he mentions directly and said that he "traumatized [ME] presumably to the point of no return"... Like hell he did. He continues on how he can now do whatever he wants in terms of violence and political analogies, and ends it off by mockingly saying "See you later [Group Name]. At least I have actual friends and goals to worry about now!" as if he achieved something. To me, the jorunal entry is a joke and is just him stroking his own ego, nothing more.
The last thing involving Kain is something that I've learned recently from my now Ex-girlfriend, Elise (we're still good friends by the way). She mentions on how Kain confessed his love towards her and tried to get into a relationship with her DURING me and Elise's first year of being together. So not only did Kain had an obvious crush on Elise, but he tried to weasel into getting with her despite me and her being a couple at the time. Which is probably the reason why he brought Elise in our little exchange. Real smooth Kain, real smooooth.
And that's the story on how I got an Edgelord BANNED from a Group due to his own hubris and anger management issues.
I'll admit, I wasn't innocent during the whole ordeal, but considering his behavior and history, he would probably get perma-banned eventually even without my involvement. Because if it wasn't gonna be me, it would've been someone else. The guy was too arrogant to admit his faults and his vile behavior is what led him to his downfall, it's just so happens that I was the one to put the final nail in the coffin. I do feel a bit sorry for the guy since he probably acted this way due to a poor upbringing, but I'd rather not make assumptions and honestly I don't care too much. All I know is that he's out of my life and that's fine by me.
So to Kain, hope you're having a good time in the REAL world, you fucko!
