Sad and lost, any advice?

My Instructor is moving to a new city and I trained under him for 4.5 years. Im really sad about this. There are two gyms in my area that are known to be tough as nails to earn a blue belt and my gym is one of them. Im currently a 4 stripe white belt. I was never focused on belts, Ezra (my professor) drilled into our heads its not the belt that matters its the skill. There is a deep pit of regret I have not earning my blue. There are many days over the years I stayed home because I was tried or sore. The people I train with have been like a family and its not going to be the same, some are going to other gyms starting as soon as next week. Life changes, I have to move on.

Im going to go to the hardest nose gym in St Louis next week. I want to know if you all think Im dramatic to cut off my stripes and tell the new gym I want a Vaghi Blue belt, they are so hard nose even tho I have been training 4.5 years, 3-4 days a week, it gonna take another 3-4 years before they give me blue. I always pictured Ezra putting it on me and If i go any where else and someone promotes me it will feel so fake. Ive also had teammates tell me Ezra is going to promote me in the next 2 days. His last day is Thur. I know he would never do something out of pity or friendship, but if he promotes me ill just think, if you were moving would you do this? I honestly was serious about getting it in the next 6 months. I was going to force him to give it to me by busting my ass in training and competing in some tourney at the end of year.

Im sure I give some of you the impression the care about the belt so much. And in some respects I do I guess. I never got a martial arts belt before and I've had my eye on the blue, it was a goal to work towards. Im sad hes going and feeling lost. If he gives me the belt should I feel good? Should I go to the new gym and start over with my stripes or blue which ever? I never posted on here before, if anyone actually reads this a reply's, thank you.
