Giger and Beksinski seem to hit a very strange nail on the head. Maybe Greg Simkins does this for me too, though his pop references pull him a bit out of the timelessness of Giger and Beksinski for me. I'm even open to much older art like Hieronymus Bosch, or Peter Bruegel but I'm pretty familiar with most historical artists already. Some of Ernst Fuchs' pencil drawings (particularly laocoon) get me there also.
I'm drawn to their alien (not the movie) aesthetics, the quality of their technical execution and the abstract/visionary subject matter.
I know this is like asking "What tastes as good as chocolate?" but I'm curious what others have found.
Thanks!
