First let's clarify something, Disney can make good movies. It's been proven before and now with such popular movies being pumped out. However this is not about weather or not Disney can or cannot make good movies. This is about their business practices, so take off your nostalgia goggles and listen to what I have to say.
Disney is just squeezing every single fucking dollar they can out of any property that they own. Like do you think that Disney was going to leave Star Wars at a satisfying conclusion? No, the answer is no. Because you can capitalize so heavily on Star Wars, that it was predictable that they would cash in on the peoples nostalgia to gain millions from an, at most C+ movie. But the point here is that the only reason so many like the new movies is because they liked the old series and wanted to see a new, modern Star Wars with better graphics.
Anyways also something that they have done that solidifies the nail in the coffin for the movie industry is the "cinematic universe". There is obvious problems with what Disney will do with the universe (Like how I doubt it's going to end satisfyingly but more like when people get bored of them and it crashes). But it's more concerning on the effects on Disneys "competitors". Now that the MCU is bringing in big money, other companies are rushing their asses to catch up. But their idea of catching up to Disney is to do their own Cinematic Universe and copy Marvel. This solidifies that they have literally no competitors because while other companies are rushing to copy Disney with their own crappy rip off of another movie, Marvel/Disney is setting new grounds and exploding at the box office. Then this produces shitty standards for what makes a good movie. Because with all of the terrible movies, then there is an okay one, the reaction isn't: "it was okay, not really that good", its now, "comparing to the others it's great!" Or "it was fantastic!" Nonetheless i've digressed.
My point will most likely be ignored for the main stream. But Disney is a text book example of how the film industry is going to crash. Their corporate attitude of "which market of people to exploit for cash next?" Is exactly the point I'm making. Film used to be art, about the directors/writer translating their imagination into real life, about telling or showing a message. But with Disneys practices about market exploitation has left us with the idea that this is okay, that this is normal. When in reality we should be furious.
