I'm on several different sub reddits for various bands, movies, and TV shows, and often there seems to be far too many posts that either involve people showing off what they bought or showing off what they made. And it's kind of like "wow. You bought something. Congratu-fucking-lations." Or they made like a fucking nine inch nails coaster and they get like 800 likes. If these things they made were like super deep art or something, fine. But they're usually not. They just have a logo, or an album cover, or a quote, or a scene.
It just feels like little kids seeking attention. It gets really annoying. Sometimes I'll try to bring this up in the most respectful way possible, but of course I'll just get down voted into oblivion.
Anyway, so that's my point: I'm sick of the "look at my stuff!" posts. Unless you made it yourself & it's actually deep, insightful, helps someone, or shows some sort of deeper values/thought, I don't give a fuck. Quit wasting my time. Quit being just another unaware consumer/unaware artist. Say or do something deep or meaningful for once. Make your own spin on a thing instead of just expecting accolades for copying someone else's art. Plus: There's more to life than material possessions. Jesus Christ.
