I submitted this a few months back, but I didn't get any responses, so I figured it was worth taking a second shot. Basically, a Splatoon 2 art book came out a few months back that had biographies for a number of side-characters that did not have information beforehand, and while I was pretty thrilled to learn this, the problem is that no one really ever took the time to translate them. I made some attempts myself using Google Translate, but for starters, there's not much guarantee as to how accurate those translations are, and furthermore, some sentences still made no sense afterwards!
So I figured to get some help here. Sorry that all my translation requests end up being obscure Nintendo trivia, but ultimately I just can't nail this on the head myself. The page with all the bios can be seen here, while the progress I was able to make on my own is here, though I can't judge its accuracy. The sentences left in Japanese are what I need the most, though there's a chance I transcribed them wrong, so use the first link when you can.
Some notes beforehand!
- The blurb at the top of the page seems to have been translated more-or-less word for word by Nintendo officially, so there's no need to translate that.
- The names, parts, and "tribes" of all the characters have also been successfully translated, with the exception of some word in parentheses under Yoko's tribe.
- The band is named "Current Rip" in Japanese, but the dub renamed it "Ink Theory." Similarly, "From Bottom," mentioned in a blurb at the bottom of the page, was renamed "Bottom Feeders" in the English dub. Feel free to take this as you will!
Again! Heavy appreciation to whoever can successfully translate this, and I am so sorry for putting you through this trouble. I just have a weird tendency to get really invested in really minor characters, and finally getting to know more about them would mean a lot!
