I've been rearranging my room. I have a lot of hobbies and only one room in which I can exercise all of them.
It started with putting my piano keyboard next to my computer and connecting the two. So I literally had both a makeup battlestation and a music battlestation. Which is kind of awesome, except my makeup takes up a lot of room on my desk. And I've worn makeup maybe once in the past month. I'm bored of my collection, and I really have no interest in finding different ways to use products.
So I took my makeup off my desk. Here is a before/after photo. (Please excuse the dirty plastic desk protector... the desk itself is clean.)
Here is where I moved my makeup. I still have easy access to it. Most of what I would wear fits in one acrylic drawer.
(It's worth mentioning that I completely fell for the YouTube/Instagram room decor. My desk and bookshelves are from IKEA, all are white. My bed and dresser, too. I have one bookshelf for beauty items, one for sheet music and CDs, one for books and sketchbooks, and one for art/sewing supplies.)
I'm hoping this will allow me to focus on real hobbies. I started becoming addicted to makeup 8 or 10 years ago. Let's be real here... a shopping addiction is not a hobby. Applying the makeup, experimenting with it, trying different hairstyles or nail art... that is what makes it a hobby. Not buying stuff.
I want to get back to drawing, sewing, and painting. I want to improve my music skills and learn to create music. I want to read more. I want to spend more time watching educational videos, and not videos on makeup that I have no interest in buying in the first place.
Goodbye, makeup battlestation. Hello, art and music battlestation.
