Former hhgregg and Circuit City locations in Central Ohio

As we all know; Circuit City went out of business in 2009, and so did hhgregg in 2017. I looked up all the locations that were here, and I'm pretty sure I got them all:

4250 West Broad Street: Located across the street from the haunted house known as Westland Mall. This used to be a Sun TV Appliance store, but became hhgregg when Sun went out of business in 1998. hhgregg closed in 2009 and moved to a closed Circuit City in Hilliard (who we'll get to later). A year later it became a Family Thrift store, that closed only 2 years later in 2012, probably because of Ohio Thrift that's only a block away (actually, I think Ohio Thrift opened the same year Family Thrift did). But they didn't give up, so Family Thrift became Payless Furniture, which is ALSO a block away from Value City Furniture. Well, at least Payless is still open... (feel bad for the shoe retailer though.)

Vacant. I couldn't get a picture of when it was still a vacant hhgregg, so I had to get a picture of the vacant Family Thrift. Same idea though. The \"Super Savings Center' marquee on the sign is still up as of today, and that originated from Sun TV.

2339 Taylor Park Drive: Located in a little shopping center grouped with Staples, Citi Nails, and LifeWay Christian Store in Reynoldsburg. This is now Ashley HomeStore.

Vacant. I notice that the \"Furniture Copy & Print Center\" (belongs to Staples) is curved...

4099 Easton Loop West: Located in Easton Town Center. One of the rare times where I find Google Street View at night (even better - this was taken in 2007). Is now a Tesla dealership, the first in Columbus too (not counting the Superchargers and the service centers that are around here..)

Vacant

1700 Buckeye Place: Located in Grove City. I couldn't find the front of the store, so I just took a picture of the back on the highway. The store is vacant, hence the \"AVAILABLE\" sign. But for some reason, they kept the signage up...

1881 Hilliard Rome Road: Located in Tanglewood Plaza. Unfortunately, no photos exist of the store being Circuit City. I assume that this part of the plaza was built sometime between 2007-2008, because looking on Maps, this looks like it was just nothing but grass. However, the second part with tenants Sam's Club, LA Fitness (Was Gold's Gym back then), Dick's Sporting Goods, and Kohl's (which was vacant back then..) was already built. So I guess the original Circuit City store lasted only 1 and a half years.. (it closed in November 2008, just 4 months before every location closed). This is now AC Moore, an arts and crafts store, and is now new to Columbus with this being the first location. There's another one coming to Dublin, in a closed OfficeMax just a mile away from Tuttle Crossing. Oh, and the thing beside it used to be a Sleep Outfitters store. It's now a Mediterranean market.

Vacant

6440 Sawmill Road: Located in Dublin and lies beside the Sun Center shopping center. The shopping center looks like it was named after the Sun TV store, which looks like used to be here, judging by the building style. The building was eventually remodeled, to make it look like every other hhgregg store. In 2015, they added in another store to this building, REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.). After hhgregg's closure, the store became an Appliance Factory/Mattress Kingdom (the first in Columbus too).

Vacant

2582 Sawmill Place Boulevard: Now to Circuit City. This was located in Sawmill Plaza. This store sat vacant for almost 9 years; and is now Planet Fitness. Worst part is, they never removed the signage-nor, anything on this building. Even worse - when the store became Halloween stores during the occasional seasons, they just put black around the logo and then added the Spirit Halloween (or Halloween City) logo on top. And they didn't even bother to remove \"AUDIO! VIDEO! COMPUTERS! MUSIC!\" on the side either. And they did this for 8 almost 9 years? Sheesh, now that's what I call lazy. Fortunately, they officially removed all the signage in late 2017, and eventually revamped it into Planet Fitness.

The old Sawmill Plaza sign advertising Circuit City.

2885 Gender Road: Located in Reynoldsburg. Same thing was repeated with Sawmill Place - Signage was never removed after the store closed. This is now Sears Outlet. Now that Tuttle and Polaris no longer has a Sears, guess this will be your nearest option if you want to go to Sears. Sad.

4030 West Broad Street: Located right next to what used to be Kohl's. This was a \"warehouse store\" according to the sign, but it doesn't look any different then a regular Circuit City. It was later turned into a skatepark, and is now Sunrise International Market.

Vacant. Right next to a vacant Kohl's (later turned into Buckeye Raceway)

4056 Morse Road: Located near Easton. Was grouped with Golf Galaxy. This store later became a Comfy Couch Co, a failed furniture store that opened in 2010 and closed years later. First Comfy Couch, then Kittle's (not really from Columbus, but they did leave the Columbus area), then Bedrooms First... (don't know if it's the exact order, but whatever). I'm sure we've all seen their annoying overplayed commercials on both broadcast on cable TV. I know I have. And Frontroom Furnishings, Idk if they still advertise, haven't seen an ad from them in a long time but they are still open. Scioto Valley also produces a lot of ads, so much for only one location in the unknown depths of Hilliard. \"WE HAVE ALL THE FUNNNNNNN!\" (I admit, I do hate the new jingle with the singing girl, I liked the old one better..) Anyway, Golf Galaxy also left the space and moved to Easton Gateway, leaving the two tenants empty. They were later demolished and revamped into Easton Commons.

Vacant. Couldn't get a vacant Circuit City, so I just had to get Comfy Couch instead. (Say, this reminds me, who remembers this old show called The Big Comfy Couch?)

8655 Lyra Drive - Located near Polaris Fashion Place. One of the very few times where the Circuit City building is yellow instead of red. Now Star Lanes Polaris.

Vacant
