My parents keep trying to discourage me from growing and painting my nails

I've been growing my nails for a few months and painting them for longer and from the first time I wore nail polish my parents have been trying to discourage me from wearing it and it only got worse after I started growing them and then even worse when my nails started to get long. My mum keeps making jokes about my nails on how I'll be a receptionist and pretending to type on a keyboard with flat part of the finger (like the nail get in the way of typing with the finger tips) even though it hurts me. And my dad says stuff like people judge me in a negative way because of my nails and how it's a "costume" and gay people shouldn't wear nail polish because they need to be normal like everybody else.

In a few months I'm going to be 19 so they can't forbid me from wearing nail polish but I think that if I were younger they would :/

Edit: I forgot to mention that they also think I'm obsessed with nail polish because I like nail art and having a variety and not wear the same few polishes on rotation
