Hey Guys,
So I submitted my application kind of late. August and got all my supplements in by end of October. I applied to about 9 different DO programs;
UNE COM NYIT COM WVSOM Rowan SOM LeCOM PCOM CCOM Nova ACOM
So far, I've only been invited to interview at ACOM and was wait listed. Nova, CCOM, UNE COM, have sent me rejections and I've yet to hear anything from anyone else. At this point in the cycle I kind of feel like today's UNE COM rejection was the nail in the coffin for me and I'm now I feel pretty lost with what to do.
My stats were:
500 mcat 3.7 science GPA 2000 hours hospital shadowing experience 10,000+ hours of volunteer experience (been working with the art of living foundation since I was about 8 and haven't stopped). 5 poster publications and 1 referred publication 6 years of research experience. Solid letters of recommendation from my Dept head, my PI, a humanities course professor and multiple physicians I shadowed under. Undergrad TA for a 300 level course for 5 semesters.
Non-medical stuff: Musician that's so far released 3 albums that charted decently (top 10 new artists Amazon MP3) etc etc. Over 1.5M music video views via reverbnation, about 83k views on YouTube.
Photographer that's also been featured by Hoya Filters and done pretty well with you guys on r/earthporn.
Undergrad in Neuroscience Now doing a masters in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
I thought I was okay with these stats but clearly not. I think I definitely have to retake the mcat, but I don't want to rush into it right now and try to reapply before the end of the summer again. As a result whatever I do now, I'd need to find something to fill 2 years (one for taking the MCAT another for the application process). But I'm pretty lost with what I can do now.
Hopefully you guys will be able to guide me somewhere.
To all of you that did gain admission! Congratulations you guys! To those in the same boat as me. We'll make it through it. It sucks but we will.
