Hi all, I used to be an IT guy, but before that I was an audio engineer that graduated from Full Sail. I've been using digital art programs since i was a young teenager (14yo). Many years later, I chose to go to a technical art school for audio and music but often found myself envious of all the animation, 3d, digital media, and game design programs. However I persevered. School finished, I got a job in a recording studio and that was a wake up call. I didn't want to work in that industry.
So here we are more than 15 years later after working in IT, I'm putting myself through some self guided curriculum for 3D animation and 3D art. I worked at a AAA game studio as an IT person and seemed to always be more distracted with hanging out and learning from the art department. I have experience in Unreal and Unity and my goal is to work with assets (3d and sound design) in games or what ever may come my way.
I'm here to introduce myself and ask for help from any professionals or amateurs for tips on a self guided curriculum. Reel building, applications I should be using and learning. I'm active on Udemy and Pluralsight (some youtube) for a lot of my foundational training currently for Unity, Unreal, C# programming, and Blender as my primary 3D application. I'm proficient with Photoshop and currently learning Illustrator. I've always dabbled with these technologies but am really trying to nail down a learning path and curriculum for myself. I'm full time working towards this and full speed ahead with learning right now.
tl;dr- changing careers, focusing on self guided curriculum in 3D asset creation and animation for game engines, looking to start a discussion with pro's and other students on this track.
