Tangerine Dream will be returning to compose the score.
After a decade of Rockstar saying they'd never work with him again, Ray Liotta has returned to his role of Tommy Vercetti; this time as an antagonist. You play as Alvaro Hernández, an eighteen-year-old Cuban immigrant. Alvaro is a more introverted and sensitive character (eg. Jack Marston) than Rockstar usually does. When he enters the U.S. and doesn't have anything to turn to but crime, he quickly realizes it's a world he doesn't want to be a part of as his strong internal values are comprised; however it becomes hellishly harder to escape than he thought it'd be. The story is expected to be around 200 missions. The game's tone is more serious and mature than GTA V but the missions remain consistent fun. The game takes place in 1989, three years after Tommy took over the city.
The weapon wheel has returned, but it's back to the classic GTA system of one weapon per category and you can only carry 1,000 rounds for each weapon. Weapon customization is basically the exact same as it is in RDR II. Every vehicle can be customized at a Benny's level without further payment. All of the classic supercars of the 80s are here.
The map will include a version of Miami that is about 50% larger than Vice City's map, making it around the same size as Liberty City and Los Santos. However, it will also include a version of the Florida Keys (Gator Keys), Kennedy Space Center (Smith Space Center), Disney World (The Glory Hole), The Everglades (simply referred to as "The Bayou" by characters but labeled as "Bayou N.W.A." on the map), and Dry Tortugas National Park (Fort Lincoln). The map also includes a very large island off the east coast simply titled "The Bahamas" which includes a fenced off resort town and two slums. Bayou N.W.A. is over 50% of the map. In total, the map is almost twice the size of GTA V's. The classic GTA map unlocking system has returned and you will immediately earn six stars upon entering an area you haven't unlocked yet. The classic GTA six stars system has returned, which includes response from the military; however this takes much, much longer to achieve than it did in the PS2 titles. Police AI will be smarter but not psychic. They're more relentless and better at problem solving but they won't walk directly to where you are if they didn't see you go there. Snipers will be brought out after five stars.
Cuba and Colombia are visited several times each throughout the story but the missions there are linear. There's also one brief mission in Saint Denis.
Every building on the Vice City Beach beachfront is enterable. These are all (erm... somewhat) honest businesses that will be purchasable. Also, for the first time since San Andreas, there are purchasable houses in single player - and some of them are pretty fucking nice, mind you. Every gas station has a robbable convenience store. Some interiors that are used throughout the story are locked in free roam but you can still enter them by shooting the window out.
Much more effort was put into the side storylines this time. There are very compelling storylines with action packed missions that are entirely optional.
Cargo trains are much, much longer. You can you use all forms of public transit, such as the city bus. The train be unstoppable is... well, it's still unstoppable. Maybe it was for the memes.
Physics are very similar to RDR II.
Auto-aim is no longer default and more work has been put into the free aim.
Minigames will include bowling, pool, pickup basketball, horse, underground poker and blackjack, target practice, and darts.
You can watch a performance by a fictional comedian voiced by Bill Burr at the comedy club.
Similar to San Andreas and RDR II, plenty of houses in the Gator Keys will be open to burglarization.
The bayou includes massive amounts of wildlife and there will be plenty of off-roading vehicles.
One thing that should be noted is that this map is very flat. There isn't so much as a hill in the entire U.S. side of the map (though there are plenty in the Bahamas).
