Wasn't a big fan of the Elder Wand or the direction wands took by the end.

Maybe there has been expanded lore on this that covers some of what im going to say but ive only read the books and seen the films.

The first book/film when Harry is taken to Diagon Alley we are treated to a flurry of deft lore and world building. Part of that was going into Ollivanders where we are introduced to wands, what they are and what they do. They are shown to be special, almost unique with an art around not only creating them but joining the right wand with the right user. But its clear a wand is a tool, it brings out the magic from the Wizard or Witch, its not power in and of itself. A hammer lets you push a nail into a hard material. It's a tool that uses your exisiting strength and ability to channel it a certain way - it doesnt make you a stronger person.

Then by the end of the story the special nature of wands is kind of trampled over. You can take someone else's wand with such basic ease ownership is practically meaningless. Anyone can at any time take it with the most simple and easy spells in the wizarding world. You can also borrow other peoples wands sometimes with a penalty to how well it works but seemingly not always.

Then the Elder Wand is suddenly the most powerful wand?. When did wands have power?. They should not. This is followed by a, in my opinion, silly musical chairs plotline of this legendary magical artifact changing hands left right and centre.

Wands felt less special by the end :/

Another pet peeve - Ronald's broken wand. If a wand is required to do almost all magic why does the school not make it policy to provide replacements or remove students without a wand?. There's very little point to him being there if he doesn't have a wand.
