I know people have done stuff like this before, but I wanted to do one myself anyway. I've tried to keep non-charm spoilers to a minimum to save people who are just coming here for charm advice.
A Tier - These charms are useful in almost all scenarios. Extremely good.
Longnail/Mark of Pride: The only true members of this tier. While other charms might be better in specific scenarios, these two nail-length extending charms are useful in all. Platforming? Yep. Exploration? Yep. Boss Fights? Yep.
Void Heart: Technically useful in all scenarios since it has no cost. Only an honorary member of this tier.
B Tier - These charms are useful in specific scenarios, or only useful to specific styles of play. Still very good.
Unbreakable Strength: While the nail length charms are also useful in platforming, this charm excels in only combat, with a substantial 50% nail damage boost. I don't like that this charm is so good due to the prohibitive cost of making it unbreakable.
Shaman Stone: The unbreakable strength of spells, without the ridiculous cost. People who don't like spells might not like this charm, but for those who do, this charm could be the best combat charm in the game.
Wayward Compass: While knowing your location is obsolete in boss fights and for re-runs/speedruns where the map is already memorized, this charm is basically a must use for normal exploration. I only took it off in my first run for boss fights.
Gathering Swarm: Geo is tight in the early game so having it collected for you is almost as useful as knowing your location. Same as wayward compass.
Thorns of Agony: For one notch, any extra damage helps for boss fights. This may not be extremely good, but at one notch, it provides great value. Could possibly be B- .
Quick Slash: The ability to slash faster with the nail is great for boss fights. Enough said.
Flukenest: Most people will pass this charm up as useless, but in the right hands it can wipe bosses off the face of the earth. Requires some level of skill to use properly.
Quick Focus:
Allows you to slip in heals with ease in bossfights. Not much use outside of them, but great inside, especially when you don't have much room to heal.
Grubsong: Only one notch, and the extra soul helps a lot in fights when you get hit lots.
Grimmchild: At it's higher levels it's great against fights where you can't get much room to attack. This, quick slash, unbreakable strength and mark of pride is my usual loadout.
C Tier: This tier is for charms with more niche uses or users. These are still good charms though.
Stalwart Shell: Extra Invincibility is useful-ish, paired with quick heal you can get a heal off just in the invincibility frames.
Soul Catcher: The extra soul is useful but hard to notice. This is likely your first or second charm so it's likely you'll use it even if it is obsolete near the endgame.
Soul Eater: The extra soul is noticeable here but this is obtained later so is only useful in some spell based builds. Also four notches is a lot for what it does.
Spell Twister: Again, only useful in spell builds, so it earns its place here.
Dashmaster: The faster dash is very noticeable. Great for getting where you want to go fast, but it isn't that often you'll use this one, unless for the speedrun achievement.
Sprintmaster: Same goes here.
Unbreakable Heart: A better Lifeblood Heart. Still, unless learning a boss fight or facetanking, you generally want to prioritize damage over health.
Lifeblood Core: Same goes here. Still good for learning nkg bosses though.
Baldur Shell: Never liked this but some others do, so I guess it deserves to be here. Not ridiculous, but not terrible either.
Shape of Unn: Useful in some boss fights, allows you to get off extra heals. I would use quick heal over this or baldur shell though.
Sharp Shadow: Nice for the Traitor Lord and Hollow Knight fights, but too niche to warrant it a higher spot.
Nailmasters Glory: Arguably B Tier, but I personally think that nail arts aren't something everyone likes using, so I'm putting it here as I would rather take grubsong or thorns of agony for the one notch. Still, at one notch, an arguement could be made for B tier.
Dreamshield: I love this charm but I simply can't make an argument to place it higher.
Weaversong: Grimmchild is better in almost all cases. The exception is the soul they give you when combined with grubsong.
D Tier: These charms are extremely niche. They can still be used, but better options are available for most scenarios.
Fury of the Fallen: The need to be at one hp eliminates this for all but the most skilled of users, who won't be at one hp anyway.
Grubberfly's Elegy: Only good for the flower quest, or if you really like the charm. The need to be at max hp stops it being very useful.
Unbreakable Greed: When it's fragile, you die with it, so it's useless. When it's unbreakable, you clearly don't have money problems. Only good for very skilled players who don't die often.
Defender's Crest: Useless except for the Broken Vessel/Lost Kin fights.
Spore Shroom: Only good for the Mister Mushroom achievement.
Deep Focus: A combo with grubsong gives you near infinite hp. By the time you find this charm it's only useful for the white palace.
Hiveblood: Again, only useful for the white palace.
Joni's Blessing: A worse lifeblood core.
Lifeblood Heart: A worse unbreakable heart.
Dream Wielder: Useful if you want to find dream nail dialogue from enemies, and that's about it.
Kingsoul: Infinite soul effect seems great but the 5-notch cost makes the charm nearly unusable. Just trade it in for Void Heart.
Carefree Melody: Actually not a bad charm, just you miss out on grimmchild by taking it. Blocks 24.9% of shots (yes, I was a massive nerd and worked out that exactly 2500/10043 shots are blocked by this charm)
F Tier: For the few charms I see as having almost no use.
Steady Body: You now don't take knockback. Why is this any good?
Glowing Womb: 'Cool, i now can spawn minions with my soul'
'oh wait it's automatic?'
'well now I can't heal'
Heavy Blow: Enemies take extra knockback. A meme at this point, it's so bad.
