I'll keep it short and sweet.
I'm currently studying at film school for a GradDip in film. I really love compositing as an art, and I've been diving into Nuke which has been super fun. I have a good working knowledge of 3D theory (tinkering in Blender for 8 years) and After Effects. Can't animate walk cycles or characters for shit. My animation ability is more along the lines of technical animation - Apple iPhone previews, cars, camera animation, etc etc are things I feel more comfortable with. I understand rendering fundamentals.
What fundamentals do I need to nail down before applying for an entry level job? Is it an industry that hires based on your reel and credits (I personally live in New Zealand, and it's most likely different in America), or does a piece of paper saying I've studied carry weight?
Advice appreciated.
