How to Practice Better

Hollow Knight is the first non-turn-based combat video game I've ever played. I've put a lot of time (about 90 hours on one file) and energy into the game so far and managed to get through most of it. I still have the Radiance, NKG, Trial of the Fool, and all of the Pantheons to complete. I'm quite proud of the fact that I've made it this far considering I had zero experience playing a game this complicated and hard before I started it.

However, I feel that I've reached a plateau in whatever skills I developed through the natural course of the game play. I want to know what advice there is to practice not just through repetition and luck, but through strategy and being smart about it.

I've read up on different charm builds and different ways to fight the various bosses and rushes, and I've worked on some of the bosses I get stuck on in the Godhome, as much as I can since I haven't beaten NKG or the Radiance and haven't gotten to Godtamer yet. I know the general advice of "don't get hit" for how to get better.

I feel that my big problem isn't that I'm ignorant of the strategies for how to improve, but rather that I have difficulties implementing them physically in the gameplay. So I'd like to know what advice people have for improving on specific physical skills in the game, particularly the ones like pogoing, descending dark, abyss shriek, and the nail arts.

Essentially, how can I actually get gud at Hollow Knight?
