Now I know these have been made many, many times before, and what I'll be saying in this post is essentially just repeating what others have said, but I still felt the need to create this post. Apologies if this bores people!
I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I joined the GOW fanboy bandwagon due to the release of the new game, but has lead me to buy all other main franchise games and fall madly in love with the series. We all know it's bloody incredible, and unprecedented in many, many ways. If I had the say in it, I'd have this game nominated for game of the year for about a century straight.
I'm currently on my fourth play through of the game, being on GMGOW+, and not once has the game seemed boring or redundant. I've played twice on normal difficulty, and once on regular GMGOW difficulty, and I can say with my hand on my heart that Sony Santa Monica have absolutely hit the nail on the head with difficulty management, and made it incredibly fun and replayable every time. I've also received my copy of the GOW book this morning, and I'm bloody loving it so far (up to chapter 5)!
All game play gawking aside, like a lot of others that have created appreciation posts for this game, compared to the rest of my family, my relationship with my own father isn't the greatest. He's not around often since he works on train lines, sometimes several countries away from home, and when he is around, we very rarely talk. This game has given me something to relate to on an astoundingly personal level, and inspired me to maybe get to know him a bit better, since losing my mother would undoubtedly be catastrophic for me, and living solely with my father in a similar way Atreus did around the beginning few hours of the game wouldn't go the greatest way ever. This has hit so close to home every time, that I never fail to tear up at the ending, no matter how corny and cliche that sounds.
And to the dev team in particular - I can't put into words how proud and grateful I am of the team. As a creative person myself who loves art and drawing almost every day of my life, seeing the amount of work and beauty put into this game blew my mind the first time, second time, and still yet on the fourth time. It's essentially my dream to work for SMS one day in the far, far future, and to work alongside these absolute geniuses of the industry, whether it's on the GOW franchise or something on the complete other end of the spectrum.
I know a lot of what I've said on here has been said before or isn't as major as some others, but I thought I'd share my 2 cents on here rather than nag my friends on Discord about it for the 70th time. If you've read this far and not rolled your eyes several times because of the above, I applaud you. Thank you reddit, and thank you SMS <3
