I haven't the foggiest if this has been talked about to death, but Isn't it interesting that in Kojima's talk with Jordan Vogt. Roberts, Jordan not so subtlely keeps his question cards in the view of both the Camera and the Audience at all times, even going as far as to gently point at the cards....and the '!' That so proudly sits upon them.
Kojima was sick of making Metal Gear...right? Konami owns the rights and to sully a well structured and educational talk focused on Death stranding, by shoehorning a MG reference sure to distract any fans of the franchise, and handing yet another seemingly bullshit conspiracy clue to us cruisers? It just seems so unwise from a business standpoint....kind of like this entire cruise as far as the Konami controversy goes.
I mean...at this stage in the game we don't need anymore clues, the game will either be a MG game and please all this recently scorned fans, or it won't be....and he has got to know by now how many of his diehard fans are living and dying on the belief they have a brain powerful enuff to figure out his tricks by working together, ignoring the nay sayers and thinking for themselves with an open enough mind to believe someone like Kojima could pull this off.
If it turns out it was all for nothing....not even to combat Cipher....then I for one will be quite butthurt, I can admit that lol.
And that Roberts....I honestly don't know whether to like him or hate him. He's a peculiar man to stand before a crowd of people and potentially millions live online, all there to see Kojima speak about his work - And say stuff like "I was at the set recently watching you shoot the ending of Death Stranding". He is the director, and effectively the life giving or life takin entity behind the long, long overdue Metal Gear Solid movie....and he has the gall to appear on stage live, sat beside the mind that invented the franchise, holding cards with that iconic symbol on them...and openly bring up, and subsequently refuse to speak about the movie.
Konami does own the rights? Right? The guys that Geoff Keighley ripped a new one at the game awards? That Konami?
Kojima is simply too close to the MG name for me to truly believe he has nothing to do with it anymore. The thing that gets me so annoyed is the never ending contradiction since 2013 at least. For e.g. when Jordan begins to ask Kojima a question prefaced with 'You have been known to lead people into battle many times before, and they trust you for that' he makes a very obvious gesture towards the '!'. So he implies Kojima is trustworthy....yet when asked how to succeed in another interview, I'm sure many of you remember Kojima's answer; "Betray your audience".
Okay so he isn't trustworthy - but he is...Fans have come to know and love Kojima's betrayals of trust....so much so that we have begun to trust that he will continue to betray our trust...
2+2=5...
o7
EDIT;- So I just finished the interview. Jordan decides with a cheeky smirk to ask, for the final questions; About the art design of 'A Cyborg Ninja' and 'A giant mech that is more like a Caiju than a mech'. So the thing from MG Survive and Python Selkans popular contender for Venom Snake???
I hate being a fan of Hideo Kojima right now...and I don't like that hate. What an absolute bummer it would be if this entire ruse cruise was simply in our heads and Kojima isn't the clever, generously talented Man that some of us have made him out to be.....alot like the protagonists of his games lol. Oh well, until the final nail is in the coffin....Here's to you...
