Dragon Ball Z Summarised Part 1

Dragon Ball Summarised Part 1

Dragon Ball Summarised Part 2

Five years after Goku's fight with Piccolo, Goku and Chi-Chi are living happily with their son, four year old Gohan, named after Goku's grandfather. Gohan is going with Goku to meet up with his friends, but when the two arrive at Master Roshi's island, an evil warrior named Raditz shows up and tells Goku that he is actually an alien called a Saiyan from the planet Vegeta, and that they are brothers, two of the last of their kind. Before he leaves, Raditz kidnap Gohan. Raditz is far stronger than Goku, so he calls upon an unlikely ally in Piccolo Jr., who has been training to defeat Goku for the past five years. While Piccolo may be a villain, he does not want to see the earth destroyed, and has grown to enjoy living there, so he agrees to fight alongside Goku. They fight Raditz and he and Goku are both killed during the fight. Gohan gets upset and it's discovered that he has a great power living inside of him. But Raditz was sending a signal to his fellow Saiyans Nappa and Prince Vegeta, who are on the other side of the galaxy. It should take them a year to reach earth, and because at some point the Dragon Balls were mentioned, they will be after them, which is bad because the "Z-Fighters" (a term adopted to encompass all of Goku's friends) need them to revive Goku.

In the year that follows, Goku, while dead, trains on the planet of King Kai, also known as the North Kai, essentially overseer of the northern quadrant of the universe. On King Kai's planet, Goku trains in 10x earth's normal gravity, quite close to the normal gravity on the planet Vegeta where Saiyans come from. Goku also learns the Spirit Bomb technique, which draws energy from everywhere around him, and is extremely dangerous. Piccolo, meanwhile, trains Gohan for Goku, so that he can become a powerful fighter in his own right and assist with defeating the Saiyans.

When Nappa and Prince Vegeta arrive, there's a big fight before Goku is revived, and Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and eventually Piccolo (and by extension Kami, as the two are linked) are all killed, but Goku arrives at the scene just then, and begins to put the hurt on Nappa, who gets killed by Vegeta for his incompetence. A big fight breaks out, Goku defeats Vegeta with the help of Gohan and with much less help from Yajirobe, and allows him to live with his life, because Goku thinks that Vegeta can do what Piccolo did and become a good person.

Because the Dragon Balls were created by Kami, when Piccolo died, and Kami died, the Dragon Balls were rendered inert. Not only that, but Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu have all been brought back with Earth's Dragon Balls before, so they can't even be brought back with them. While Goku is resting up in hospital, Mister Popo makes a stop there during visiting hours and brings Bulma to the place where Kami grew up on earth, a spaceship. Apparently, he was an alien called a Namekian, from the planet Namek, and so Bulma, daughter of the owner of Capsule Corp, one of the richest companies on the planet for having created vehicles that can be shrunk and put in your pocket, gives the spaceship to her father so that he can fix it and Bulma can travel to Namek, where there are more Dragon Balls. He fixes it up for her, and Bulma, Krillin and Gohan all travel to the planet Namek over the course of a few months in order to revive Piccolo and their fallen friends. Along the way they meet refugees from a planet that was devastated by an evil warlord named Frieza.

Vegeta has been healing up on Frieza's ship, where he's lived all his life. When he awakes, he learns that Frieza is on his way to the planet Namek, in order to make some wish for some reason, it's not that important in the grand scheme of things. Anyways, Vegeta wants to use the Dragon Balls to wish for eternal life, with which he could defeat Frieza once and for all. So Vegeta, Frieza and Bulma, Gohan and Krillin are all on their way to Namek seeking the Dragon balls.

What follows is very long, but essentially, Goku heals up and boards a ship Bulma's father made that can increase gravity on board up to 100 fold, and can take Goku to Namek within six days. While Goku eventually trains under 100x gravity, Bulma and the gang run from Vegeta and Frieza's crew, and manage to get all the Dragon Balls in one place. On Namek, however, the Dragon Balls grant not one, but three wishes, and each wish can only restore one person to life. King Kai has a special power that allows people in the spirit world to speak to people, so Piccolo tells Gohan, Krillin and their new friend Dende, a Namekian, to wish Piccolo back to life, restoring the Dragon Balls on earth in the process, and wish Piccolo to Namek, which they do. One of Dende's friends, Nail, is fighting with Frieza at the moment to stall him so they can make their wish, but Frieza beats him within an inch of his life and realises that the dragon Porunga, the Namek's dragon, has been summoned, so he leaves. On his way to meet up with everybody, Piccolo meets Nail, and Nail offers to fuse with Piccolo, which will make Piccolo stronger, and make Nail a part of him. Piccolo agrees, then proceeds to do the cutest thing he's ever done, and goes off to fight Frieza. Goku arrives on Namek, defeats a bunch of idiots called the Ginyu Force, the leader of whom has the ability to switch bodies with people, eventually ending up in the equivalent of a Namekian Toad who you can spot throughout not only the rest of Dragon Ball Z, but also in episodes of Dragon Ball Super, and Frieza arrives, Goku becomes a Super Saiyan, which is a way of saying his hair glows yellow, he bulks up and he's super strong, Krillin dies again and goes to join everyone else on King Kai's planet, everyone on Namek who died is wished back to life by Earth's Dragon Balls, except Krillin who'd already been wished back to life once, then everyone on Namek is quickly wished to Earth by the last wish from the Namekian Dragon Balls, including Vegeta.

Goku fights Frieza until Namek is destroyed, at which point Goku manages to escape just in time, and leaves Frieza on the brink of death, and Goku doesn't return to earth for like, three years. In the meantime, the Namekian Dragon Balls were used to wish everyone back to life, and they all find out that Goku is alive, just unwilling to return to earth at that time. The Namekian Dragon Balls have a shorter regen time because Namekian years are shorter, so it only takes at most a full year to get everyone back to life, Yamcha and Vegeta stay at Bulma's place, Chi-Chi is an absolute wreck after hearing her husband died twice, then being told the second time he didn't die and just wasn't coming back for years, Tien and Chiaotzu go off to train, and Piccolo just kind of does his thing.

Three years have passed, and a cyborg Frieza is returning to earth. When he arrives, he and his father are both stopped by a mysterious boy with light blue hair and a Capsule Corp jacket. He tells the Z-Fighters that Goku will be arriving on earth shortly, and takes them exactly where he's arriving. When Goku does arrive, the boy pulls him aside and tells Goku that he's going to die in the next three years unless he takes an antidote that the boy gives him. The boy's name is Trunks, and he is from the future, a time-travelling future son of Bulma and Vegeta. In his timeline, two androids built by a scientist who once worked for the Red Ribbon Army, Dr Gero, had devastated his world and he went back in time to stop it. Goku is to take the antidote and kill the androids before that comes to pass, so he and the Z-Fighters all train for the androids' arrivals for the net three years. Trunks, on the other hand, goes back to his own time.

Another three years pass, and everyone gets ready to fight the androids, who it seems cannot be traced by energy as they don't give off any. It turns out Trunks was a little off, however, as Goku didn't come down with the sickness until the actual fight, so he had to be rushed home quickly and take the antidote, which would take a full week to heal him. Everyone else, led by Vegeta, takes on the androids, but after one is destroyed, the other flees and returns to Dr Gero's hideout. Bulma with her newborn child Trunks, accompanied by Yajirobe, goes to the fight before this, and sees the android's face. The android is really Dr Gero, and Bulma knows exactly where his hideout is because her father, a great scientist, once told her. Bulma tells them exactly where to go, and the Trunks from the future arrives, and notifies the Z-Fighters that the androids on his world were much stronger and didn't look the same as the ones they'd been fighting.

Dr Gero releases two of his androids, who turn on and kill him, then fight everyone, but are looking mainly for Goku. These are Android #17 and Android #18, and they release Android #16, who appears to be less inclined to fight than the others, but is still very much set on killing Goku. Despite the fact that they're enemies, Krillin develops a crush on Android #18, and can't help think about her over the next few days. The Androids set out on a destructive road trip to Goku's house, but Goku is actually at Master Roshi's place. While this is going on, Future Trunks and possibly also Bulma, I don't remember, go to a place where a Capsule Corp machine was found, and Trunks says that the machine is his Time Machine, as can be identified by the message Future Bulma wrote on it before he left. Only, this machine must have been sitting there for five years at least, which is before Future Trunks even arrived for the first time. They find a strange looking shell, then book it.

Not long after, everyone starts sensing all sorts of high and bizarre power sources, ones they recognize, from a city where people had begun disappearing, leaving only their clothes. Piccolo decides that with Goku out of power, he must step in to save the day, so he decides to do something he'd been putting off, fusing with Kami, in order to be more powerful. Fusing with Kami does render the Dragon Balls inert, though. When Piccolo arrives on the scene, a new face, Cell, is there, and is absorbing people with his weird vampiric tail. He was Dr Gero's creation, an organic life-form that had the DNA of every powerful fighter Gero could get it from with his bug drones, and he went there to absorb Android #17 and Android #18 to become a perfect version of himself, incapable of running out of energy.

Long story short, he does this, and longer story short, Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks and Gohan all reach a level beyond that of a Super Saiyan, a Super Saiyan Level 2, all in preparation for a challenge that he offers, saying that if they can beat him in a tournament not unlike the World Martial Arts Tournament that used to be on and then was essentially cancelled forever due to the fight between Piccolo and Goku, he wouldn't destroy the planet.

It's around this time a guy called Mr Satan shows up, a wrestler kind of guy who's an arrogant prick and thinks he can beat Cell in the ring after Cell notifies the world of the tournament. Mr Satan gets tossed out of the ring without a second, or really a single thought from Cell, and although cameras are rolling, he manages to bullshit his way out of being seen as a wuss. After Goku fights Cell, there's massive destruction, including that of the ring, which means the new rule is that the entire desert is their ring and if they get out of that, they lose, but Goku does lose, and he nominates Gohan to be next, the cameras don't quite catch what's going on other than glimpses, Android #16 is destroyed, Gohan beats Cell so hard that Android #18 is ejected from his body, then he begins to explode himself as a huge bomb, Goku teleports him to King Kai's planet, where they all die and the planet explodes, except Cell isn't with them or with a Halo on, because he's technically still alive due to his regeneration and the fact that not all of his cells have been destroyed. In fact, he comes back as strong as he was when he was perfect, and he and Gohan have a huge fight, ending with a massive clash of the Kamehameha wave, and then Cell is defeated, everyone goes home, Goku reveals that he'd rather not be wished back to life because the earth is safe if he's not on it and he'd like to train in the spirit world with the greatest fighters in history, and Mr Satan, somehow, becomes known as the man who defeated Cell and saved the world. Dende's the new guardian of the earth and puts new power in the Dragon Balls and now Shenron can wish two wishes instead of just one.

Years after Cell was killed, Gohan is going to high school for the first time after years of homeschooling, and has a little seven year old brother named Goten, who is Goku's son. Gohan soon decides that his powers should be used to help people, and he begins saving the city, Satan City named after Mr Satan, as an alter-ego known as The Great Saiyaman. While in school, he is stalked by a girl named Videl who knows he's secretly The Great Saiyaman, because he's really obvious about it. Videl is the daughter of Mr Satan, and she's the city's hero as well, but she doesn't trust The Great Saiyaman because he wears a mask. Eventually, she bribes Gohan to teach her how to fly in exchange for not revealing his secret, he agrees and she learns about how to control her energy, something every Z-Fighter can do, but most normal fighters cannot. This already makes her a better fighter than Mr Satan, but she continues to train until she can fly, and she and Gohan all go to fight in a new version of the World Martial Arts Tournament, held by Mr Satan, and Goku is given a one-day pass to come back to life just for the tournament.

The tournament is interrupted by weird zombie guys who steal some of Gohan's energy while he's a Super Saiyan, and they fly away, shortly followed by everyone else, including someone called the Supreme Kai. The Supreme Kai tells the Z-Fighters of a space wizard named Bibidi, who created an evil weapon named Majin Buu. Buu was trapped in an orb on earth for years, but Bibidi's pathetic son Babidi wants to free Buu in order to become the most feared thing in the universe. It backfires, Vegeta dies, Gohan goes the the Supreme Kai's planet where he trains with an Elder Kai who was trapped inside a cursed sword, Goku reveals that he reached a higher level of Super Saiyan called Super Saiyan 3, he fights Buu, Buu kills Babidi, Goku trains Trunks and Goten to fuse with a fusion dance into Gotenks, they manage to match Buu's strength so he begins absorbing people, Gohan gains power and fights Buu but gets absorbed by him so the Elder Kai gives his remaining life force to Goku to come back to life, he goes to earth, Vegeta's given a one-day pass to earth in order to defeat Buu, the two fuse in a different way with Potara earrings that only the Kais have, Vegito, the fusion of Goku and Vegeta is better than Buu and defeat him from the inside-out (literally), free their friends who'd been absorbed by him, Buu becomes Kid Buu and Vegito goes back to being Vegeta and Goku, Kid Buu is stronger than Buu was, the original fat Majin Buu long before this actually was rather innocent and became friends with Mr Satan, so he's kind of a good guy now, they all fight on the Kai's planet after Earth is destroyed, then while they're there it's wished back by the Kibito Kai (a fusion between Supreme Kai and his semi-manservant Kibito) the Elder Kai and Dende on the new Namek where the Namekian Dragon Balls have been changed to be able to bring back large amounts of people in situations like this. Goku prepares a Spirit Bomb to defeat Kid Buu once and for all, during which the Fat Buu's true colours shine, and the day is saved once again.

The follow takes place after the events of Dragon Ball Super, but was the end of Dragon Ball Z

There's a timeskip, and the last few episodes of Dragon Ball are set far in the future, when Goten and Trunks have grown up, Gohan has a daughter named Pan, Goku and Vegeta haven't aged a whole lot physically due to their Saiyan heritage, and because of something Goku said while fighting Kid Buu, at the latest World Martial Arts Tournament, Goku fights a kid called Uub, who is the reincarnation of Majin Buu as a good person, and the two leave the arena to train.
