Legend's Unofficial In-Depth Tier List

Hello ZFighters,

Welcome to Dragonball Legend's Unofficial In-Depth Tier List. This list was created to give players a guideline on a specific unit's strengths & weaknesses. This will be constantly updated when: new units are released, the meta changes, and when new equipment is added. Sparking units have Pros & Cons section due to them being the meta defining units and Extreme units have also been added. Hero units will be added if we receive any good ones later on. Now onto the list...

Update: 3 Sparking and 6 Extreme units have been added. I've also put more weight on the cards characters come with. Building a certain team to accommodate a specific unit is a negative when it comes to team-building.

S-Tier:

SP LSSJ Broly: The unstoppable Legendary Super Saiyan Broly smashes his way right into the top of S-Tier. His main ability allows him to draw another super attack card which is valuable with the new changes. His Z ability gives a minimum 17% base blast defense for characters from movies tag which at the moment is only Pikkon. He comes with two unique ability passives: the ability to cause the enemy to receive a -15% Ki recovery for 15 counts every time Broly enters the battlefield and his second unique ability to increase his already massive strike damage by 20% when faced with any Goku character. His gigantic meteor special attack causes the enemy to receive 15% more strike damage for 15 counts and has a faint chance of 30% like SB Goku. He's the first SP unit who's extra ability is an attack move and a buff! His gigantic claw gives 15% to own Ki recovery for 20 counts and forces your opponent to switch characters, but will cost you a hefty 35 Ki to use. He comes with the Saiyan tag which is insane for all the stat boosts he will get, and is a much tankier unit than Vegeta so he will last longer. All in all, Broly is a very scary unit and is just about perfect He's able to use good equips, has the highest base strike damage and critical from the SP released, with the second highest Ki restore speed, and the third highest health. His only notable drawbacks are low blast attack and blast defense really, and is of course hard countered by Piccolo/Captain Ginyu which you'll see often.

Pros: Good equipment, fits on the Saiyan team, has the faint mechanic, highest base strike attack in the game, highest critical out of the SP (2nd highest in the game), extra ability forces switches, has the ability to draw a special attack, 2nd highest Ki recovery rate, balanced art card held (strike/blast) means he can go on any team.

Cons: Countered by Piccolo/Captain Ginyu, low blast attack and blast defense, extra ability cost of 35 can put you in awkward situations.

SP Vegeta: The Saiyan Prince arrives in the S-Tier being the best blast damage dealer in the game. While Vegeta's blast & strike defenses are below average and he has the lowest health and strike attack compared to the other SP, the sheer amount of damage output he has carries him to the S-Tier. While at face value his blast attack is only 2nd highest from the SP units, he is full of blast attack boosts. His Extra ability gives a 15% blast damage increase which lasts 30 counts. His galick gun special attack increases blast attacks by 15% for 15 counts, and his Z ability increases saiyan base blast attacks by minimum 19%. His main ability gives a massive 50% increase to blast attacks for 20 counts. He also has a nice bonus of doing 20% more blast damage against units of the Super Warrior category. Being a fragile unit however, you'll have to know when to bring on Vegeta to bring the pain to the enemy team. With a total of 100% in blast attack boosts, it's easy to see why the Saiyan Prince is feared in the right hands. Since he comes with 2 blast art cards, putting him on a Saiyan blast heavy team that runs EX Vegeta, makes this SP Vegeta able to win matches alone.

Pros: High blast damage potential, good equipment, fits on a Saiyan team, counters Piccolo/Captain Ginyu which is used often, comes with 2 blast art cards which is perfect for him.

Cons: Fragile unit with the lowest health and low defenses, high skill cap, countered by Yellow which will be popular now.

SP Piccolo: Having an amazing balance of attack and defense, the Namekian is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with. Having the best health with the best strike & blast defense of the game currently, your opponent will have to spend a lot of Ki trying to take him down. While his Z ability is practically useless, his main ability to restore ally health for 25% for your team is huge. Especially once characters reach high levels, 25% is a lot of healing. He comes with the passive to do 20% more blast attack damage to Saiyans (SS Goku, SB Goku, Vegeta, Broly) which you will encounter all the time. His unique ability to reduce 50% of all damage when switched in during a combo is pretty ridiculous also. His extra ability is a 15% boost to both Ki & strike attacks for 15 counts. This unit's downsides is the lowest critical rate and Ki restore speed in the game. He doesn't have synergy with any specific team, but he does have good equips. He is also hard countered by Vegeta which most players have since they re-rolled for him in the beginning. With that being said, Piccolo being the best healer so far might make him a viable unit for a very long time. He's also the only unit capable of surviving rising rush right now if his 50% damage mitigation is active.

Pros: Best healer, best tank if switched in, good equipment, highest health, highest base blast & strike defense, counters Blue which there is a lot of, can survive rising rush, one of the hardest to kill, goes well with Gohan (Kid), balanced art card held (strike/blast).

Cons: No synergy with any team for now, countered by Vegeta that's used everywhere, lowest Ki restore speed & critical, low damage.

SP Gohan (Kid): Goku's first son arrives as the best potential strike damage dealer in the game. His main ability gives an astounding 50% damage increase to strike attacks for 15 counts. His Z ability isn't the greatest for now, giving a minimum 14% base health increase to mixed-saiyans, which is only Pan at the moment. He has two unique abilities: the first is 20% strike damage increase while you have your 3 party members alive, and huge 35% strike damage increase when a Piccolo on your team is defeated. His masenko special attack increases his strike damage by another 15 counts and his extra ability increases both his strike and blast damage by 20% for 15 counts. With a strike damage potential range of 110% to 125%, he is the best potential damage dealer currently. Since most users will bring him with a Piccolo, you'll have excellent synergy with these two while being very hard for your opponent to handle. He is also very durable with the 3rd highest strike & blast defenses compared to the other SP and has above average health. His notable drawbacks are very low critical and Ki restore speed and he has the lowest base blast attack out of all the SP so far. He also does not have any good equipment currently. He also comes with 2 blast cards instead of strike, so you'll have to bring a Pikkon or SS Goku to help him reach his potential which can put you at a disadvantage. Luckily for everyone, SS Goku is free at Z level 20 and will be relevant now with all the yellow units roaming.

Pros: Highest strike damage potential, great synergy with Piccolo, counters popular Vegeta, very durable for a damage dealer, only has 1 counter.

Cons: No good equipment, no team currently, lowest base blast damage compared to the other SP, needs a Pikkon/SS Goku to get enough strike cards, having to bring certain units to help him can put you at a disadvantage.

SP Final Form Frieza: Goku's most popular arch-nemesis Final Form Frieza joins the bottom of the S-Tier. His main ability allows him to draw another super attack card after 25 counts. He has the first Z ability that buffs both strike & blast defense for yellow units by 19% minimum. He also has two unique abilities. The first gives him a 20% strike damage increase against Saiyans which will always be popular and his second gives him a 15% strike and blast damage increase to Frieza Force characters. This effect does not apply to Frieza characters however. His death ball special attack causes enemies to receive 15% more strike damage for 15 counts and his telekinesis "immobilizes" enemies and causes enemies to receive another 15% more strike damage for 15 counts. This lasts for 1-2 seconds and sets up an attack window for you. While it isn't as long as a faint, this is guaranteed as long as the opponent doesn't vanishing strike. His drawbacks are: he doesn't have a good team to go on yet unless you want to try a full yellow starting team, he doesn't have good equipment, and he has low blast defense and health. He's a yellow type attacker similar to Vegeta, but trades his damage for better survivability stats. While he is still a very good unit, the other SP above offer more value.

Pros: High strike damage, buffs both strike & blast defense for yellow units, able to draw a card with main ability, does more damage against Saiyans, shreds through Vegeta, balanced art card held (strike/blast).

Cons: Doesn't have a good team yet, no good equipment, countered by free SS Goku, very low health and blast defense.

A-Tier:

SP Super Saiyan Goku: Bardock's famous Saiyan warrior son SS Goku joins the A-Tier. He surprisingly has the highest base blast attack compared to the other SP, and the 2nd best strike attack and critical. Unfortunately, he also comes with the lowest strike & blast defense, 2nd lowest health and Ki restore speed. His extra ability gives him a 15% damage increase for 20 counts, and his super kamehameha attack will buff his next special attack by 15% for 15 counts. His main ability will give you a 20 energy super dragon fist at any moment, which is huge with you unable to draw cards normally during combos. His Z ability to buff Saiyan's base strike attack by 19% minimum is also nice. This is still a decent unit and considering he's the first free SP that was given, we can't complain too much. He might see a lot of play now with more yellow SP units released. Although he comes with 2 strike art cards held, he's has slightly above average strike attack so this doesn't affect him too much.

Pros: Free at level 20, fits on Saiyan team, good equipment, main ability to draw a special attack card is strong, highest base blast attack, counters yellow which we have a lot of now, comes with 2 strike art cards which is excellent for Gohan teams, or to balance the costs of your cards.

Cons: Most fragile SP with lowest strike & blast defense, very low Ki regen, countered by Blue units which are in abundance, takes too much damage event against Yellow units.

SP Spirit Bomb Goku: SB Goku joins the Legend's roster as the first off-tank SP unit released. He has the 5th best health, 2nd highest strike, blast defense and Ki restore speed, while having the third best critical in the game, his abilities are very offensive with stat increases to help this tank deliver the damage needed. His Z ability makes all other Saiyans on your team tankier with a minimum 19% base strike defense. He has an extra ability that gives a 15% damage increase to all damage for 30 counts. He has a passive that increases his blast damage by 20% as long as you have all 3 team members alive, and he has an excellent main ability to cause the enemy to receive 40% more blast damage for 25 counts. He also brings the faint mechanic with his Spirit Bomb special attack with a 30% chance to hit. This free SP unit is as durable as Piccolo on a Saiyan team and is definitely worth the medals to upgrade. He comes with 2 blast art cards which is perfect for his Saiyan team.

Pros: Free from exchange shop, good equipment, best tank while on a Saiyan team, has the stun ability in his special attack, passive active until someone dies on your team, counters SS Goku which is seen often, comes with 2 blast art cards which is perfect for his Saiyan team.

Cons: Countered by Piccolo/Captain Ginyu, damage is mediocre without buffs, upgrading to higher tiers costs a lot of medals, not as impactful as the higher SP units.

SP Pikkon: The champion of the West Quadrant arrives at the A-Tier as the most well rounded and optimal unit in the game so far. With the 2nd highest health, strong blast & strike defenses, and the 4th highest strike attack compared to the other SP, Pikkon is a fantastic unit to open your battles with. While his unique ability and Z ability are mostly non-existent, his extra ability to increase all forms of damage by 15% for 25 counts is a big help to his overall damage. He also has the faint mechanic like SB Goku and Broly, but at a lower chance to land at 20%. He has a main ability that adds a +10 cost to all enemy unit's strike and blast cards . Unfortunately, he also suffers from having not very good synergy except with Final Form Frieza or Broly and has no good equipments yet either. That being said, he has balanced stats in almost all the categories making him a good unit to have. He also comes with 2 strike art cards which is great for the Gohan team, or to balance the costs of your cards held. Having too many blast art cards can make you "slower" in cycling the cards you hold.

Pros: Most well rounded fighter, counters popular Vegeta, can stun with his special attack, increases card cost for your opponent, has synergy with Broly and the new Final Form Frieza, comes with 2 strike art cards for Gohan teams or to balance your Ki costs.

Cons: Doesn't fit in any team currently, countered by the free SS Goku, low critical & Ki restore speed, no good equipment.

SP Captain Ginyu: The flamboyant leader of the Ginyu Force dances his way to the lower half of the A-Tier. His main ability draws a card that allows you to deal major pierce damage and inflict bleed after 25 counts. His Z ability gives "Ginyu Force" characters a minimum of 17% base max health. His unique ability is good since it increases all of his damage by 20% if you have a "Frieza Force" unit on your team. His milky canon special attack also causes the enemy to take 15% more strike damage for 15 counts. His extra ability causes the enemy to receive an additional 20% from blast damage for 20 counts. While Captain Ginyu is a new unit, he is actually not as good as we thought he would be. He works well for a Ginyu Force team by buffing their health, but those units are all subpar compared to SP units. His main ability art card we thought would switch health bars, but it only does piercing damage instead with a bleed effect. He also has the lowest strike attack from the other SP and very low blast attack and strike defense. Another thing to note is bleed can not knock out an opponent if he has 1 health. He's the first SP that comes with an extra ability card (green) and a strike art card. While having more extra ability cards can be good in other units, it is not as impactful on Ginyu. He's not all that bad though! He comes with 2 very good silver equips, and has the 2nd highest health, critical and Ki restore speed compared to the other SP. This could be helpful for completing missions that require multiple ability card usage. He's not a bad unit to run by himself on another team, but a Piccolo would be a much better choice for a green unit. Having no synergy and very low damage, even with his equips, hinders this unit. He can possibly be better if EX or SP Ginyu Force units come later on, or if a good Frieza Force team comes in the future.

Pros: Counters all the Blue units we have currently, 2nd highest health, Ki restore Speed and critical compared to other SP, gives a big health increase to Ginyu Force units, has good equipment.

Cons: His buff to his Ginyu Force team isn't enough, his other stats are below average or very poor, doesn't offer much to your team compared to the above SP, coming with a strike and extra ability art card can hinder your damage output if you draw extra cards too many times.

SP Pan: Goku's granddaughter join the bottom of the A-Tier. With the highest Ki restore speed in the game and the unique ability to boost her Ki restore speed by 20% for the first 25 seconds since the battle starts, you will have no problems regarding Ki management. The problem is, you don't want to start off your matches with Pan. She's not very tanky and the damage isn't there either. With the change of not drawing cards while attacking your opponent, this is also a huge nerf to Pan's almost infinite attack combo from before. She has the lowest blast attack & blast defense of the game compared to the other SP, and the 2nd lowest strike attack & strike defense. Her Z ability is useless since there are no other female warriors in the game currently, and while her extra ability buffs her strike attack by 15% for 30 counts, she has the 2nd lowest strike attack in the game so the increase isn't noticeable. Her main ability is her only shining point since it reduces the enemy's ki restore speed by 30% for 20 counts which can definitely set them behind especially if used with Pikkon's ability. The new Gohan (Kid) does make Pan last longer with an increase in her base health which helps her out a bit. While Pan is still an SP unit and can be helpful to players with not many options, she is easily replaced by any other SP unit.

Pros: Highest Ki restore speed in the game, useful to use as a stall character to refill Ki, has synergy with Gohan (Kid), balanced art card held with blast and strike.

Cons: Unlimited combo removed, very low blast & strike attack and very low blast & strike defense, countered by Piccolo/Captain Ginyu, no good equipment.

B-Tier:

EX Fused with Nail Piccolo: This version of Piccolo special beams his way to the top of the B-Tier. While his stats aren't as high as some of the other Extremes below, he is essentially a powered down version of SP Piccolo! His main ability restores all ally's health by 20%. His Z ability isn't so good with a minimum 17% health restoration increase to yellow units. His unique ability is amazing with a 40% damage received reduction when switched in during a combo. His special beam canon attack causes enemies to take 10% more blast damage for 15 counts and his extra ability to increase both strike and blast attack by 15% for 20 counts. An easier to pull version of SP Piccolo that can also use his good equipments, what more is there to say?!

EX Vegeta: The extreme version of the Prince of all Saiyan's joins the upper-half of the B-Tier. His main ability gives a massive 45% blast damage increase for 15 counts. His Z ability is very good with a minimum 17% base blast attack for the popular Saiyan teams. His unique ability gives a 15% damage increase for 20 counts from the start of the battle. His galick gun special attack causes enemies to take 10% more damage 15 counts. His extra ability gives a further 20% blast attack increase for 20 counts. Being a counter to all the blue units, with a lot of blast attack increases, and able to use Saiyan equipment, this Vegeta is a solid addition to your team. He's also the best partner for SP Vegeta making this a must have unit for your Saiyan team.

EX Goku: Extreme Goku is pretty common to encounter in ladder currently. He has the highest strike attack in the game. His main ability causes the enemy to receive an additional 35% more strike damage for 20 counts, his extra ability gives 10% more strike damage for 20 counts, his kamehameha another 10% strike damage for 15 counts and he has a unique ability that gives 10% strike damage for each downed member. he even comes with a great Z ability to buff Saiyan strike damage by at least 17%. With strike attack boosts totaling to minimum 82%, EX Goku can output some insane damage. His drawback is his other stats are lower compared to SP units but you will see him regardless due to his buff to Saiyan teams. Most of the time he will be used as a bench character instead, but don't be surprised if he's brought into battle.

EX Raditz: Goku's overly aggresive brother also makes the B-tier due to his synergy with the popular Saiyan team. He doesn't have any stat that particularly stands out since they're mostly balanced in each category. His main ability isn't great since it only reduces blast card costs by 5 for 15 counts. His unique ability is limited since it gives a 15% increase to blast damage against Super Warrior units. His extra ability is decent since it gives 15% increase to all forms of damage for 15 counts and his double sunday special attack increases blast attack damage by 10% for 15 counts. While he is deffinitely sub-par compared to EX Goku, you will see him on Saiyan teams for his 12% minimum buff to Saiyan max base health. With his event that ended a while ago, most players will have Raditz at 3* or 4* giving a bigger buff to your Saiyan team.

EX Yamcha: Earth's best baseball player Yamcha is actually a very good extreme unit. His main ability gives a 45% strike damage increase for 15 counts. His Z ability gives a minimum 17% blast attack increase to green units. He also comes with two unique abilities. His first gives a massive 45% damage boost for his special attack but this is only for the first 20 counts of the battle. His second one comically causes Yamcha to receive a 50% damage increase from self-destruct attacks. His neo wolf gang fist special attack increases his critical rate by 10% for 15 counts with a 50% chance to inflict bleed and his extra ability increases his strike damage by 20% for 20 counts. Aside from the hilarious self-destruct damage increase he takes, this Yamcha is a very good green unit to counter blue cards and has good equipment. With huge buffs and solid stats, don't sleep on Yamcha!

EX First Form Frieza: The first form of Universe 7's emperor Frieza also joins the upper part of the B-Tier. His main ability is very good with a 45% blast damage increase for 15 counts. His Z ability gives a 17% minimum strike damage increase for blue units. He has a great unique ability that gives a 15% blast damage increase against Saiyans. His death beam special attack causes enemies to to recieve 10% more blast damage for 15 counts and his extra ability telekinesis immobilizes the enemy. Immobilization is like a 1-2 stun (dodge-able) that sets up attacks for you. While it isn't as long as a faint, this is guaranteed. While this Frieza is a much more weaker version than his SP version, he has very good stats for being an extreme unit. If you don't have EX Goku, this Frieza is definitely a good replacement.

EX Final Form Frost: Universe 6 emperor Frost joins the middle of the B-Tier. He has a good main ability that increases his strike and blast damage by 30% for 15 counts. His Z ability gives a minimum 17% blast and strike damage to blue units on your team. His unique ability gives a 15% damage increase against super warrior units. His chaos ball special attack causes enemies to receive 10% more blast damage for 15 counts and his extra ability immobilizes the enemy and inflicts poison. Frost has some stats that are very high for an extreme unit and buffs both the attack and defense of blue units on your team. Unfortunately his abilities aren't that great aside from his main ability and he doesn't really have synergy with anyone. He's not bad for a blue unit, but EX Goku is a much better option instead.

EX Tien: Being the strongest Earthling after Hercule, Tien Shinhan also makes the cut in the B-Tier. The descendant of the Three-Eyed People is almost like a discounted Pan. He actually has higher stats in pan in everything but health, ki restore speed and critical. His main ability is very strong with 35% Ki restore speed for 17 counts. His extra ability is nice since it gives a 15% increase to both strike & blast damage. Tri-Beam special attack gives a 10% increase to blast damage for 15 counts. His Z ability is mostly useless since it only gives a buff to yellow characters base strike defense and his unique ability to give a 25% increase to strike damage when a Chiaotzu is defeated on your team. His 2nd unique ability is good though with a 50% damage reduction from a kamehameha or super kamehameha attack. While not the greatest, his Ki charging abilities and tanking ability against a Goku could make him somewhat usable. Being a yellow type makes him a safe unit to run, since there's not that many Red characters in the game and on ranked ladder.

EX 3rd Form Frieza: The 3rd form of the Emperor of the Universe Frieza joins the bottom of the B-Tier. His main ability causes the enemy to receive 35% more blast damage for 15 counts. His Z ability increases purple base blast attack by 17% minimum. His unique ability isn't the greatest with a 20% blast damage increase against units with the regeneration tag. His crazy finger beam special attack causes the enemy to receive 10% more blast damage for 15 counts with a 40% chance to inflict bleed and his extra ability increases his own strike damage by 20% for 20 counts. This version of Frieza really doesn't offer much. Aside from a good main ability, he's completely outclassed by the other extreme units above.

EX Nappa: Vegeta's former best friend and the general of the Saiyan Army joins the lower half of the B-Tier. While he does have a main ability similar to Tien's that boosts Ki restore speed by 35% for 17 counts and the 3rd highest strike attack in the game, that's all he really has going for him. His Z ability increases damage against yellow type units which is very situational. His extra ability is decent with a 15% increase to damage inflicted for 15 counts. His giant storm special attack causes the enemy to receive 10% increase from self-destruct damage for 15 counts. Like Tien, he also has two unique abilities. The first is a 20% strike attack boost if Vegeta is on your team and the other is a 50% damage reduction from self-destruct attacks, which you'll rarely encounter. While he has some synergy with a Saibaman or Chiaotzu on your team to benefit from the self-destruct synergy, he won't be seeing any spotlight in high competitive ladder. While he does have better synergy now with more Vegeta's available, he is also countered by Blue which we have a lot of currently.

EX Krillin: Goku's first rival joins the bottom of the B-Tier as a decent support unit. His main ability is a 30% heal to himself, while his Z ability gives a minimum 17% base blast defense to red characters on your team. His unique ability increases his own Ki recovery by 15% while you have all members on your team alive. His extra ability the solar flare inflicts flash which is a guaranteed 1-2 second stun, and gives a 10% boost to his own critical rate for 30 counts. His destructo-disc special attack causes enemies to take 10% more strike damage for 15 counts and has a 70% chance to inflict bleed (a damage over time effect). His stats aren't the greatest but he does have semi-high health. Krillin can be used for teams that wan't to activate SS Goku's effect that increases his blast attack damage by 35% when a Krillin on your team is defeated. Besides the synergy that he has with SS Goku, Krillin is a very average unit.

C-Tier:

EX Mercenary Tao: The expert assasin Tao Pai Pai is all about that critical damage. His main ability boosts his critical rate by 20% for 30 counts and his extra ability boosts his critical by 15% for 30 counts. His full power dodon ray special attack boosts his critical damage by 10% critical damage for 15 counts and his unique ability increases by 20% if 2 allies are downed. His Z ability is alright with a minimum 20% increase to purple base critical damage. Tao was actually used quite a bit in the first 2 weeks when Legends was released to buff Vegeta, but ever since then he's rarely been used.

EX Chiaotzu: Tien's best buddy explodes at the bottom of the C-Tier. His unique ability gives a 50% damage increase to self-destruct damage if a Tien is on your team. His extra attack gives a 15% damage increase to self-destruct damage for 20 counts and his Z ability gives a minimum 17% increase to damage inflicted by allies with self-destruct during battle. His special attack dodon ray increases self-destruct damage by 10% for 15 counts and his main ability allows him to draw his self-destruct card. Unfortunately, with all of those boosts he hits like a feather and more often than not, kills himself while the opponent lives. He's not all bad however, since he's useful for missions where your other character might be too strong, so Chiaotzu is perfect for missions that require multiple extra abilities or a Rising Rush to be used. Maybe if he could get zenkai boosts everytime he exploded, he could've been a great rival for Goku.

Important: While majority of the users of this subreddit agreed on my previous Tier List, please be respectful of others with different opinions. Remember that this is my opinion so of course there will be differences between other players. Also, the tier list isn't absolute. You can play with anyone you like regardless of their tier, having fun is what matters. Lastly, remember that no unit is safe from being moved up or down tiers as time progresses.
