Why people/fanboys are trying to downplay this? avoiding the Mammoth in the room! The whole cake island was one of the biggest screw up in the history of manga.
We can clearly see the points in the arc where the author realised he screwed up big time and was trying to repair/make up for it and in that process he damaged it even more, Oda had no idea what he was doing most of the time. I am even wondering what happened in oda's personal life? because it's very unlikely of oda to slip up that bad cuz he is a great artist.

Big waste of many 'Build ups' like sanji's family, first time full introduction to a yonko and crew.

Character wastage of jinbe (Opposite of white beard where oda used the character to it's fullest extent)

Biggest nail in the coffin : sanji's crying seen.
Edit : Edgy fanboys who don't know anything about art.
