So I came out to (almost) everyone...

Today was 'Diversity Day' at my school (AKA Wear It Purple Day, which is supposed to be an LGBT+ Youth awareness day but we are a catholic school), so I decided to come out on my Instagram and Snapchat to my classmates and such the night before. I got a response from a classmate only a few minutes later, who was proud of me for coming out. I felt so touched because I never expected her to ever message me about something like that.

'Diversity Day' rolled around and, in general, I didn't receive much face-to-face response from my classmates. My close friends were happy for me to come out, but most of the reactions from my coming out came from DM's from old classmates and past seniors I was good friends with. I guess it wasn't such a big deal, but I still wore the flag on my face and on my nails to celebrate. My friend was also inspired to come out as bisexual, and I know she was a lot more scared of coming out than I was, so I'm the most proud of her.

I came out to my buddy (a second year I kind of 'look over' during their first years of high school) in homeroom and she gave me a big hug. I love that she could accept me straight away.

The only negative response I really received was when I finished school and went to go do my usual friday-evening coaching for a kids' martial arts class. I showed up, and a friend of mine, who is much older, that helps run the class asks me what pansexual meant (saw from my Insta). She didn't understand that gender isn't limited to the binary, but I've since sent links so she could hopefully understand. I know she still accepts me either way.

I haven't told my family yet, not out of fear, but because I simply don't think they will understand. I told Dad just a few hours ago. After five minutes of hinting I had to say it out loud in the café, "Dad, I'm PANSEXUAL." and he understood it within a few minutes. I'm gonna have to do the same thing with Mum when I find the right moment.

So, that's my first day out in the open. I feel so free and so happy now that I'm out. :) I can't wait to go to Pride in a few weeks!!

Edit: spelling mistakes
