Disclaimer! I am by no means trying to slut-shame. I am part of the group age of the girls I am mentioning. (16-18) year old girls
I just want to start off by saying that I know that this is something I know won’t interest everyone. Some of you might roll your eyes and say that it doesn’t matter. I agree, it doesn’t. But it still annoys me when it happens.
I go to a private school. Many of the girls there will wear their skirts in a way to show off their ‘assets’. They will unbutton their shirts to show off other assets. Excessive makeup. Extravagant hairstyles.
For most part I am fine with it. I am all for wearing your outfit and makeup in a way to make you feel confident. But it seems to me as if they are trying to act like they are 30 sometimes.
Like, why are you trying to show off your body when you’re trying to get an education? Why are you posting pics of you smoking rather than studying? Why are you going from party to party rather than having some time with your family?
It seems to me so fake. I miss the old days when teen girls would gush about movies and celebs and art or sports or stuff like that. What to wear to this party and that party seems like issues college students would have.
I know it is to be expected from girls this age and with social media, but COME ON. It has become the measurement of greatness upon my gender. What happened to a good personality?
For those who might be wondering, I am a teen girl who focuses on school (as my family encourages me to) and currently recovering from knee surgery. These past few months I have been waiting in locker rooms and in elevators and in bathrooms and I’ve had the chance to see these girls more often. I’ve heard some of their conversations too. How they want two makeup palettes and can’t choose which one to buy, how two can’t have the same nail color, etc. I am a sports fan, I enjoy music and tv in general. Clearly, I seem like an alien compared to these girls
