Apothecaries are what makes the Legions spin. Without them, their wouldn't be a dedicated specialist to initiate Legionnaires, recover Gene-seed, tend to battlefield injuries on the superhuman Astartes on a scale and time management they would find suitable, and essentially keep the war machine of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy moving.
Each Legion has a specialty, and some like the Word Bearers, Iron Hands, and Thousand Sons had an overriding gift in specialty's of the modern Chapter like the Chaplain, Techmarine, and Librarian respectively.
Which Legion however was known for their Apothecaries?
If I had to make a choice based on the knowledge given to us, I'd say either the Emperor's Children based on Fabius Bile being one of the best Apothecaries and well known Surgeons for any warband. If I had to take a second guess...I imagine the Blood Angels or Death Guard would also rank up their due to either their special practices that are inherent to their chapter, or due to their own biological endurance and interest in all sorts of biological and chemical weapons that would be important to know about.
What are you opinion?
In The Buried Dagger, it was the only case I saw of Apothecaries working en masse to solve a problem unique to the Legion, but that's not discredit the EC Apothecaries who began large scale "perfection" surgeries or the Blood Angels with their ritualistic induction through the Legion or even the World Eaters who perfected the art of Nailing to the point of having almost an entire Legion of Butcher Nail-implanted Battle Brothers.
What do you think?
