Can I be a nail tech and an actor?

Thinking of enrolling in cosmetology school to get my nail tech license. After I graduate and get a job, my plan is to train, attend occasional auditions, maybe get a few bookings , and work casually during weekdays but heavily on weekends. Are salons typically flexible and understanding? Would it be possible to maintain a balance? My worry is that I’ll be so consumed by working in a salon that I won’t have time for anything else. I’ve always had a passion for nail art; but not as much as a passion as I’ve had for acting and I don’t want to give that up. It would be worthy to have a new skill so I don’t have to wait tables the rest of my life. I also don’t want to put myself in debt and go through the trouble of getting a license if I don’t put it to use.
