SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT UP TO THE COMICS. I only catch bits of the show, but I've been a huge fan of the comics for awhile. I'm interested in what everybody else thinks.
Hard to really nail any kind of conventional "villainry" in this series due to a lot of moral ambiguity and the central theme having more to do with fighting a system rather than a story of "good versus evil." We do see people committing straight-up vile acts, but most of the cast has dabbled in the art of doing shitty things. HOWEVER, we definitely do have a few characters that are built up to take on an antagonistic role.
Two of my favorite antagonists would, honestly, have to be:
1) Fuckface/Chester Wilson. That scene where he comes in right after the gang kills Chico, and just nabs the dude's head. That whole exchange is right about where the series really hooked me. It was a genuinely "What the fuck?" moment and I thought it was phenomenally executed. Was kinda bummed this part was rewritten in the TV show, but I also think the actor has done a pretty good job portraying the character so far. I love this deranged, kind of "wild card" type character in fiction; just a totally fucked up individual. His whole gang was just revolting, but I loved it so much. While being an impetus for later conflicts, Chester was a character that honestly could have been relevant for a few more arcs. I really loved how he was hyped up for a bit, but his actual demise ended up being lackluster; having that acknowledged in narration really drove this series forward thematically.
And... 2) Viktor. He is an absolute powerhouse of a character; both in terms of physicality and actual characterization. While certainly fulfilling the role of the meatheaded jock, he actually subverts quite a few expectations. There is an academic philosophy he adheres to that sheds some light on the ideals he values. We see him built up as this big bad adversary, but when he's on his knees and at Marcus' mercy (really loved that last arc), it's an insightful moment for the both of them. We see them both as victims; two very broken individuals who are different, but not so different. While he was still in that more clear-cut antagonistic role, I found myself strangely rooting for him at times; being a steadfast, resolute and highly determined student. Even if I hated a lot of the things he'd done in the story, he was never a character I could outright hate. He has a lot of depth/personality, is quite funny and produces some of the best dialogue the comics have to offer.
Other than that, I don't think that anyone out of the cartel received enough development to wow me as characters. I have to say they were killed off in hilariously abrupt fashion. Shabnam and Kenji are pretty well-developed antagonists in a climb for power and control, but I can't exactly say I like them. Also, Brandy's a damn monster; did not expect her to be the powerhouse that she was in that last arc.
