So i recently signed up to Reddit just for this. It happened today so its still fresh in my mind i'm sure many artists who do commission's will understand. Without further a-do lets get into it. Flash back two weeks ago my Art teacher called me and one of my close friends back after class to ask if i wanted to make and sell self portraits at the school fair. I happily obliged and she offered to even let us use the more expensive art supplies (usually used for GCSE work). Fast forward to today and i was at the booth i and my friend had painted it and it had some pre-painted portraits on display. It had taken us a while of our own time and we were proud of it and were planning on letting the next people who did the portrait booth at the next fair use it . Most of the first hour went smooth we took turns doing shifts and then going of to see the fair friends, and families. Then EP (entitled parent) had approached
EP (entitled parent) K (kid) me (me and A (my friend L(daughter
Keep in mind i have a temper but my friend A was shy and not confrontational
EP: hiya hun, me and K were just wondering how much a portrait is for two people and how long it would take" she was wearing a tight short black dress, heels fishnets and a ton of makeup very inappropriate for a kids fair
A: they are £1.50 for two people and time varies
EP: aww come on hun look at my little girl i'm sure you'll like to paint her cute face and just do it for free?" i had assumed she had a older kid who went to the school since her daughter was way too young
A just kind of looked shocked unsure what to say which is when i began to approach
Me: hey A your turn to go look around i saw-" she interrupted me with a face of disgust
EP: i know you!" pointing a finger at me
Me: what?
EP: you! you ! you cant be working here!" people from booths close to us began to stare at me
Me: and why is this" i was incredibly confused looking at A
EP: How dare you do that to my daughter!" her face was red
Me: whos your daughter?" i was pretty confused right now and beginning to get mad
EP: L of course!
As soon as she said that i knew why i "couldn't work there". Basically L was also a art kid but never got as much praise for her work as most of me and my friends did (we are known as "art kids" ). She had asked my Art teacher to do the booth but obviously had been declined (shed been yelling at me a few days before because of this) and had blamed me for it (A and her were mutual friends which is probably why she only blamed me)
Me: I can work here if i want now if you excuse me i have CIVILISED customers to serve" her face was shocked and she called over another one of the other moms who she was probably friends with. A explained what she had said and i told her to go and enjoy the fair. the other mom ran off and L approached her mom.
L: She can't talk to you like that!
EP: your right hun don't worry shes a brat and shell pay" they both smirked and walked away i thought that was the end but boy was i wrong
Later on during my last shift at the booth they approached again drinking fizzy drinks talking like i wasn't there.Talking about there hair and nails the "cute faced" toddler no wear to be seen. All of a sudden the girl was next to me behind the booth playing with paints. She spilled the water we used for cleaning brushes everywere. I picked up the girl and passed her across the booth and EP screamed throwing her drink in my face picking up her toddler and running then L tipped her drink all over the booth , paints, and portraits waiting to be collected while drying all ruined . A returned and held down the booth while i changed into my Pe kit. When i came back my Art teacher was there apologising to the customers saying she would re-fund them and the women would be punished including L.
I guess ill find out tommorow what happens
