Hi, I’m a 22 year old college student who lives in Southern California. I work in production and have lived here a couple years. I’m fairly active and love to go hiking. I also have a hobby of making ceramic art, like bowls or dishes. I think I’m decently attractive, people have said I look like Amy Adams. But I don’t think I could ever make money from my looks
I come from a well off family, but I hate to fault it. I wear nice clothing, but nothing ever with logos or that is “on trend”. I don’t have social media. I like to get my hair, eyelashes, and nails done regularly. But I would never except most women to do that kind of up keep. I have a good group of girlfriends who support me.
I have one friend named Traci from my friend group. I hangout with her a lot of one on one or sometimes with people she used to live with that my other friends haven’t met. She has this one friend named Ashley she’s from New York. She finds men on seekingarrangement.com a lot to give her money and be her boyfriend. She’s always decked out in everything designer. She never cooks her own food, always going out to eat.
She had one boyfriend from the website for a year where she lived rent free showered with gifts and fancy dinners. He was 40 she was 26. She always complained about his kids from a previous marriage and about how during his divorce he couldn’t take her to the Gucci store as much. It ended because someone told him she was cheating with multiple people, but she denies all this.
Anytime she comes over she complains about her easy job, being broke, and shitty dates guys take her on. She complained about how a guy took her miny golfing and that he was so pathetic. Or she talks about the 40 year old buying her a bunch of stuff and taking her to Santa Barbra. I try to always ask questions about her and what’s going on in her life.
Whenever I tell a story from work or like talk about my family or anything other than her, she will repeatedly roll her eyes and fake laugh. She implies that I’m stupid a lot and never asks me anything. I feel like something is wrong with my personality? I always try to be respectful of people’s boundaries and try to take a genuine interest in my friends-friends and want everyone to get along.
She always gives me dirty looks and is nice to me sometimes. But maybe I just have an annoying personality? I worry that I come off wrong or am confused by why I always irritated her. Ever since I met her she’s treated me this way. She acts like she’s above me or smarter but this girl used to be addicted to meth. So I don’t understand why she acts like she some celebrity.
What could I do to be less annoying? Is it me or it her?
Tl;dr: friend of a friend is very materialistic and always talks down to me. Not sure what I’m doing to make her upset?
