For some reason almost all art of Dragonborn have them as barefoot.
Some say this is because they have scales and harder feet. But they don't have the same unarmored AC like lizardfolk do, so I think that might mean that their scales aren't that hard.
And even if they were hard enough to withstand standard wear and tear, wouldn't it be a bit risky in case of the occasional hazard on the floor? Like maybe there's broken glass, disease ridden animal poop, or a leftover rusty nail that they could step on.
And sometimes they are depicted with oddly shaped feet that are more reminiscent of that dinosaurs. The standard type of footwear that humans, dwarves, and elves make won't fit them, but surely they can make their own. Especially if it's considered unsanitary or rude in other cultures to go barefoot.
Like I imagine in a human city, it's considered rude to walk barefoot all over the place. Usually people who can't afford shoes are the impoverished and sickly, two types of people who would be considered undesirable in any type of business. So if they require humans to wear shoes if they want service at the bar, what makes the visiting dragonborn any different?
What especially bothers me though is the dragonborn paladins and fighters who wear full plate but no boots. They could be covered from head to ankle in shiny metal armor, but their feet are left fully exposed.
In a world where there are monstrous races who are on average under 4 feet tall, that's just asking to get their toes cut off in combat. Even archers and magic users could shoot arrows and firebolts at their exposed feet and make walking difficult for them until they can recover.
Maybe I'm just overthinking this.
It's just a pet peeve I have
